What an awesome time this was thank you for allowing us to be your chosen vendor to provide all the fun for the night. I do want to address everything you mentioned so we can move forward with a proper assessment of what we could have done better. Here’s a point-by-point breakdown of your concerns, what we did, & where it seems we fell short: 1. DJ Height / Visibility Issue: --You noted that our DJ couldn’t clearly see over the banister and may have lost sight of the dance floor. Anticipating this, we offered the option to include a dedicated host/MC for elevated booths above guests, which honestly could have averted every issue you had. --Even though you opted out of the dedicated host option to save money, we provided an extra hour free of charge to ensure full coverage of the pre-ceremony and ceremony. --Ultimately, this isn’t a height issue. Booths raised above guests can block any DJ’s view, which is why we recommended a Dedicated Host/MC as additional support. 2. Timing of Mother–Son Dance: --You mentioned that the mother–son dance started early, cutting their special moment short. --We rely on clear verbal cues or visual confirmation before initiating key dances—typically from a Dedicated Host. --Without a dedicated MC or precise signals, timing can be off. That’s why a trained professional for that role is so important. 3. Playlist Adherence and Song Choices: --Your instructions were clear: Play only songs from your playlist, no outside requests (other than your fiancé, planner, or you), allowing us to fill any gaps. --You also mentioned a preference for more explicit songs after 9:30 pm, which we respected. --Towards the end the night you sent someone to let us know you want us to stick to your playlist. We visually showed them that we were actually playing right off of your chosen list. Still, I wish we had been notified of any discrepancies during the event—it might have avoided concerns in real time. 4. Lack of Slow Songs During Dancing --You felt disappointed that no slow songs were played during the dance portion, except only at the final dance. --Though you provided your playlist, timing, however, wasn’t specified beyond playing explicit music after 9:30 pm, according to conversations we have on record; therefore, we didn’t include slow songs during the main dance portion. --We emailed you a breakdown of four playlists as follows: prelude- cocktail hr- dinner- party time However, we only received a general Spotify playlist with no instructions on when to play each genre as you envisioned, and we were left to play music intuitively. --A Dedicated Host/MC could’ve helped notify The DJ to shift into the slow songs live-time by communicating what is needed to change & what wasn’t working on the spot. Where a planner is not skilled in this role, in fact, she said we were doing great & the night was going well, with no further feedback outside of your friend with your request that we stick to the playlist. 5. Regret Over Hiring Us: -- From day one, we followed your direction, consciously provided extra time at no charge, and did our best to honor your vision with the broad information provided to us. --Yet without clear, real-time guidance, it seemingly fell short—something we deeply do not feel good about. In Summary: --We anticipated the disconnect between the booth being above you & your guests, along with the layout, ahead of time & solutions were offered, but denied. --We extended our services at no extra cost. --We remained faithful to your playlist outside of 2 tracks the DJ chose & respected your instructions regarding explicit music. --We established that a Dedicated Host/MC is ideal in spaces where DJ booths sit above the party & no clear insight to how you wanted the music to flow.
