We had the most incredible wedding experience on June 6th. We initially chose 618 because of the beauty of the venue, the reputation for the food and cocktails and the hospitality... of all the people involved. We looked at a few venues; we had never been to 618 and found it online. When we opened the door for our first meeting in my heart I knew this would be the place they would pick. The vibe (in my opinion) gives rustic, Great Gatsby, and NY chic. Everything from the floral motif, the elegant chandeliers and lighting, the wood accents, the fun bathroom made it an easy choice. We knew that the restaurant was known for their innovative cocktails and food; but had realistic expectations when serving food at one time for 100 people, but once again were surprised. Even on the night of the wedding the food was superb, which is a rare feat.
Once we solidified our choice we went for dinner and were treated by the servers with enthusiasm and they offered suggestions for the things they are most known for. And our family left feeling so optimistic, satisfied, and full. Then we stopped by for cocktails and in conversation told the bartender I was getting married there and they came out with pistachio martinis with our names and wedding date on them. We were so touched by the personalization and care.
As for the wedding, we can say it was an "imperfect, perfect night". Our guests cannot stop raving about the entire experience. Just like us, they were impressed with the beauty and originality of the space. I have some harsh critics when it comes to food and drink: guests were remarking that it was the best cocktail hour they had been to, how servers were always coming around with passed apps, and that the food was delicious. Being known for cocktails: we had two signature drinks for the bride and groom and then the bartenders made espresso and pistachio martinis when guests inquired; that was another level that our guests will remember. To that point everything was "perfect"- but toward the end of dinner we heard a loud boom and then the power went out (transformer blew locally). This could have been an alarming event and a cause for panic among the staff. Instead the staff quickly responded, made sure everything continued to remain seamless, and if possible were even more attentive. The dj lost sound for a couple minutes, but your staff quickly got him set up on blue tooth. Then after some time that started glitching and it was becoming hot without air condition. So they thought to move him to the other end of the room by the food and that worked! They opened the windows to cool off, moved the food over and created an even better dance space if possible. The decreased lighting just made it more romantic. This could have been a catastrophe, but everyone made sure that we continued to have the best time.
A big shout out to Hailey and Patricia. Everyone was spectacular, but Hailey problem solved in a heartbeat and kept checking on us and reassuring us everything was good. Patricia was the server assigned to the bride and groom and we could not have been more happy. During a wedding the bride and groom often miss out on food and drinks because they are being pulled in so many directions. She was attentive and made sure we had what we wanted and never had to ask for a thing.
Thank you for one of the best nights our lives.
