Knocking stars for the tasting experience. The cake was included with my venue package and I was soooo soooo excited for my cake tasting. When we got there we were shown the list of flavors and options for the first time - allow at that point we weren’t given a choice for the tasting, those were preselected. It would have been a much better experience if the flavors were shared with us ahead of time to select from. The tasting consisted of a total of 3 cake flavors and 6 fillings (many were premium). When it was clear we weren’t going to be buying any of the add-ons early on, the mood was colder. We couldn’t ask for additional flavors (and couldn’t even bring the leftovers on our plate home). We ended up going back a couple weeks later and buying other cake flavors and fillings which we selected from. Tasting was 2 star so overall I’d give a 3-3.5.

We ended up doing a simpler cake—our florist added fresh flowers to the cake—with a hand-drawn floral design, white fondant, and alternating tiers of chocolate/vanilla cake with fresh strawberries in chocolate ganache. We ended up with a 3-tier cake with 2 flavors (top 2 tiers were one flavor and bottom tier was a different flavor), and the resulting wedding cake was SO DELICIOUS! We got 4 massive slabs of leftover cake from the bottom tier (in addition to our top tier) back from the venue, and have been gladly eating it for dessert almost every night, as it still tastes as amazing as it did that night even though its been 3 (almost 4!) weeks since the wedding. Our guests were absolutely loving the cake too! Buttercream was not too sweet or too sugary as some buttercream frostings can be, and the fillings were perfect. Planning to go back to A Little Cake for any future special occasion cake needs!

He wasn’t trying to persuade us to upgrade our package. He helped us understand the package we were offered and the upgrades we could do if we desired. We ended up upgrading to a fondant cake. We showed the owner and artist a picture from pinterest, let them know what slice (flavors and icings) we selected, and discussed guest count, size of cake, cost etc… I was a little concerned that we we’re asking for a cake that wasn’t something they do every day or was in client example books, only because I didn’t see an exact example of in their books. I didn’t see the final product until the day of the wedding through the reception doors. I was shocked and delighted and literally smiling with glee. It looked like it came right off the page, picture perfect, and was exactly as requested and as in pinterest image. It isn’t often that people you work with surpass your expectations, but the cake was beautiful and delicious. Our guest complimented their work the day of and after. We couldn’t ask for much more. I would work with them again and recommend them to others.

At this time they also mentioned to us that they would not be putting any flowers on the cake. John told us his "delivery" guy would be there and he would not be putting the flowers on. This sent us in a panic with a million other things going on. Luckily the staff at the Park Savoy was extremely accommodating and fixed this up for us on our wedding day. The communication was not thorough and could of been better as far as a customer service industry.

We are sorry if there was any misunderstanding, however it is our policy that we do not decorate cakes with fresh flowers as we cannot sanitize them for the cake. We do not know how the flowers are treated, and they most likely have pesticides ...
which are unsafe for food.
At the time of the appointment we were shown the image of the cake design and it was not followed up with an email to us with the image for direct reference. We called to review all the details the week of, and asked for the image again then.
The tree stump was supplied to us the day before the wedding, which was nearly 18" tall, and cut incredibly unevenly. We reached out to let you both know that we would do our best to secure the tree stump so that we can stack a straight cake on it to keep it sturdy, secure, and let you know that you may need more fresh flowers to cover any gaps in the angles so that upon presentation your cake would be beautifully displayed. We did not want to leave you without a solution to the issues presented and would never mean to cause any stress for your special day.
