ake is a balance between edibility and structural integrity - tasty cake is light, spongy, and moist - stable cake is dense, stiff, and dry. Often highly decorated cakes like wedding cakes prioritize stability and the resulting product leaves guests grateful for a sliver sized portion. It's a frequent enough issue that when shopping around for a cake we considered the possibility of having a purely decorative cake and then feeding the guests using a sheet cake to avoid it. Our 'A Little Imagination Cakes' wedding cake, however, fulfilled both the "look good" and "taste good" roles to an exceptional degree that had both of us quite pleased. My one minor quibble would be that Hope, from what I can tell, is a very easy-going and laid-back type person. This can either be a blessing or a potential cause of worry given the temperament of the customer. If you have a neurotic bride like I did, you might find yourself having to make some calls just to make sure everything is on track. I can assure you that you needn't worry, but if your bride was like mine, you'll probably find yourself having to make that call anyways, 'regardless of what some idiot on the internet says'. TL:DR - Overall, we rate the experience very highly and recommend this vendor. We had many flavors to choose from and the ones we picked were awesome. The cake was decorated exactly as we had envisioned and the price was far lower than the competitors.

ope took my lack of opinion in total stride (I had no idea what colors I wanted, what kind of cake, how many tiers, what flavors, etc etc). She gently led me down the path to picking the *perfect* cake. It fit our decor (hand-sewn bunting everywhere at a tented reception) and she literally made tons of little bunting flags and strung them on the cake. It blew my mind and made me cry it was so perfect! She took minor venue snafus in stride as well (they didn't have a table ready for her when she delivered the cake) and was just totally professional in every way. It was seriously a highlight of the wedding. I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.

n sunflowers. I wanted the middles to be large because otherwise it would look like a daisy or a "black-eyed susan" so I showed her many pictures of what I wanted. I said more than once that the middles need to be large and the petals small so it will look like a sunflower. She said there was no issue at all and she would make sure the flowers were sunflowers not daisies. Also in one of the pictures I showed her she really liked the cupcake stand and said she would recreate the stand for us to use the day of the wedding. That made me even more excited. Well fast forward to the day of the wedding. I walked into the reception and was so upset by what I saw. The cupcakes had daisies on them. Yellow petals and dark brown middles but skinny yellow petals and small brown middles. Exactly what I said I didn't want. I was so upset. And on top of that the stand looked horrible. The stand in the picture had wood circles as the shelves and was trimmed in dried grape vine. This stand had one piece of wood as the top shelf and the rest of the shelves were bright white plastic with the grape vine wrapped around which made it look cheap and tacky. The cupcakes were there and on time. The cake tasted fine, not really as good as the tasting but honestly what matters to me was the sunflowers. I talked my husband into going with a more expensive cake baker who was not even close to our town because I was sure that she would do a better job. Our wedding was on a tight budget but I wanted to spend the money on our cake. And it was the biggest and only dissapointment of the day.

r, then they would show me more pictures of their work and would ask if I wanted something similar to specific photos they were showing me. With Hope, I showed her my inspiration images/discussed what I wanted and she immediately grabbed her pencil and paper and got to work at drawing the a picture of exactly what I wanted as if she had read my mind. She designed three different cakes- 1 large and 2 smaller with lace/peonies/pearls/ruffles and then a bunch of cupcakes to be arranged all around the cakes(by having cupcakes- I was able to save a lot of money instead of having the cakes large enough to serve all of the guests). Her cakes were also absolutely delicious- my guy wasn't able to make the consultation and she sent me home with huge pieces for him to try(automatic thumbs up in our book ;-) ) Not only was she able to draw my vision, but she completely delivered on my wedding day and made an absolutely beautiful wedding cakes/cupcakes that my guests couldn't stop raving about! She took my entire vision and brought it to life and I cannot thank her enough for making the perfect cake- A Little Imagination Cakes rocks!!!

She is definitely a perfectionist! In addition to her making my wedding day that much better, she also just fielded a wild phone call from me today...my realization that my 1st anniversary was this coming Sunday reminded me that I never picked up my little cake that she had made for us. She then told me that her freezer had broken down over the summer and she lost a number of cakes that were being stored in there :( Then, without hesitation, she said, "I am making pumpkin cupcakes today, so let me just make your cake for you and you can pick it up!" She truly went above and beyond, going to far as to deliver our cake to our venue to save us a pick up trip. I would recommend A Little Imagination to any bride- delicious, beautiful cakes, and SO fun to work with!

in touch with at times, but to be honest, it didn't really bother me that much. Plus, her work is SO AMAZING that it was totally worth a few extra phone calls! Her fondant is made of marshmallow, and I had several folks tell me that hers was the only wedding cake (with fondant) that they had that was really tasty! And on top of the original cake designs, her sugar peonies were amazing! I would recommend Hope to anyone looking for a creative or unusual wedding cake.

ke that would look like the open road, with the penguin/Harley riding on top. In the mean time my mom decided to surprise me with a cake as well, so she ordered from them. That cake exactly matched the picture I had sent her of a ruffle style cake, just with purple instead of pink. I think they changed the shape of the groom's cake to match, but I was never consulted about this. In the end both were great, and people definitely smiled. We had penguin toppers on the traditional cake which were also adorable. Both cakes were delicious and people seemed to enjoy them, even competing alongside and ice cream bar, Italian cookies and Indian sweets. We were definitely happy with the overall product. I just wish a phone call had been made before changing the design.

s favorite cartoon to life. A Little Imagination Cakes did a great job designing a cake that brought all of the elements to life and the cake itself was tasty. Visually, the cake was a work of art and hubby was pleasantly surprised! I would definitely recommend them!

ith Hope on a secondary photoshoot using another wedding cake. WHAT AN UTTERLY FABULOUS JOB SHE DID WITH THE IDEAS THAT WE GAVE HER!!! I look back now and desperately wish that I had known about Hope and her services for my actual wedding day. My husband and I had a comic book themed wedding, and I've got to say - she BROUGHT IT TO LIFE! From the Batman head as the top of the cake, to the Superman cape in the middle tier and ALL the amazingly intricate details of putting our comic book invitation ON the actual cake itself! COMPLETELY blown away. Puts my "wedding package cake" to utter shame! Brides, if you are looking for a way to WOW your guests, HOPE is the one to go to! She is super friendly and sweet and a breeze to work with. NOT to mention that the cake was DELICIOUS too! I hope to be able to work with her again in the future. DON'T STICK WITH THE PACKAGE CAKE - GO WITH HOPE!!! SHE IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS!!!

er which the guests loved! We had three flavors: thai iced tea, coconut lime, and lemon raspberry. She has a lot of options and is very adaptable to your theme -- on top of being reasonably priced. I'd highly recommend for brides and for other events (I saw her cakes for kids birthday parties etc, they look almost too good to eat!)

If you want traditional or off beat I would suggest checking out A Little Imagination Cakes. I have also used Hope for work events. Great service and a great product.

t Disney Worlds Haunted Mansion. When we met with Hope for a consultation and tasting, not only did she know what it was but she had also researched it and had pictures loaded to her computer. She was the first person to be excited about it. Hope helped us pull together what elements we wanted to highlight and how they could be done with cupcakes. When we left Hope we finally had a good feeling that someone “got” us. When we saw our cupcakes at the wedding we were amazed. We never could have imagined that someone could do such awesome decorations on cupcakes that were spot on with our theme. Not only were they beautiful but they tasted amazing, the whole room that they were in smelled like chocolate and peanut butter. The chocolate cake was moist and flavorful, and the peanut butter ganache was creamy but didn’t overpower the cake. I would definitely recommend Hope to anyone having an event in Connecticut. She was super reasonable with pricing and delivery for us. The only thing I wish was that Hope had a store front so I could go there every weekend and get cupcakes from her all the time.

h. I knew that I wanted my cake to look like my wedding dress, but wasn't sure what that would entail. By the end of our consultation, Hope had drawn up a sketch that already exceeded my vision. On my big day, the actual cake was even more wonderful than I imagined. It was so beautiful that I felt horrible cutting into it - until I remembered that meant I would get to eat it, that is. It was DELICIOUS. Hope was professional and helpful throughout the process, and the cake was everything I could have wanted and more. 5 stars!

e precise 'minutes' where my favorite cake appears and sent it to her. The cake was exactly like the picture with flowers so realistic, you wouldn't believe they were sugar flowers. It was gorgeous (everyone was in awe) and delicious and Hope is just wonderful, creative and professional. I'm not one to give compliments but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. She's in a class of her own.

the cake itself was gorgeous. She even made a sketch of what it would look like while we sat in her office devouring the 5 in. round sample cakes she made especially for us (and got to take the extras home!)! Even though her Dad was ill and in the hospital she still made sure the cake made it to the HUMID reception and was in perfect condition for the photos and cutting. She also made our cookie favors in the shape of leaves (part of our theme) and wrapped them and put tags on them. I'm so happy people forgot to take them becuase i'm LOVING eating the leftovers! Thank you Hope for everything - you really are amazing!!

I would have thought they could have placed it on a colored board or matched the theme because it was just sitting on a piece of wood colored board... it took away from the cake a little bit. The cake tasted great and looked good besides that. I worked soley through email and telephone which I was a little skeptical of at first but it went through just fine! They provide a good service and are reliable.

initial meeting and tasting and worked out what we were looking for. As we talked, Hope was sketching. As soon as we finished our thoughts, she had it on paper! It was perfect. She was even accomodating when I changed my mind on the size of the cake with less than a month to go. Our cake consisted of two flavors- vanilla orange and cookies and cream. Both were delicious and got so many compliments! We will be recommending Hope and her team to anyone who will listen!

not willing to compromise on look or taste, and Hope provided us with an extremely beautiful vintage style cake in our colors, that tasted WONDERFUL. We gave her some creative freedom, and she made our cake a work of art. Occasionally, I had a hard time getting responses via email, but I' sure if I would have picked up the phone, Hope would have been there to answer my questions on the spot. She is wonderful! We are hoping to take one of her cupcake decorating classes in the future!
