Laurie is the best in the business! From our first cake tasting to the day of the wedding she was incredible to work with. Not only are her cakes stunning on the outside but they are even more delicious on the inside! All of our guest complimented how beautiful the cake was and also how great it tasted. Delivery was hassle free and she was able to take inspiration photos and bring them to reality. We could not recommend her more for anyone's special day! Thank you so much Laurie!

I honestly can’t tell y’all the number of cake tastings we went on. I LIVE for my cake and desserts and every single place we tried was a letdown. We were about to give up when we had our tasting with Laurie at A Piece of Cake & Desserts. Her cake was fresh, moist, and the flavors were DELICIOUS! We were pretty open to the design of the cake but knew we didn’t want fondant. We ended up doing three tiers, each one with a different flavor. We did ask for a marble which did end up being more vanilla than a true marble but that was my only complaint! We also did a few dessert selections from Laurie which included mini cannolis, mini key lime tarts, macarons, and a few other things. Due to the venue being extremely hot from the power outage, some of the desserts did melt or become soupy but they still tasted great based on our guests! We didn’t have any leftover desserts but we did have a ton of leftover cake which made great leftovers for a few days after. Laurie was really down to Earth, friendly, and I felt super confident in my decision to go with her for our cake and desserts. She truly captured the theme we were going for through the design of the cake but she was a little slower with email communication. We didn’t have any issues and I would definitely recommend her for cake or desserts or both!

Laurie is amazing! We were so happy with our cake and desserts for our big day! She really took the time out to meet us and gather our thoughts of what we wanted and how we wanted our desserts - we are not huge sweet peeps, and she nailed it with such light and delicious flavor! Lori was able to make our wedding cake and dessert bar both completely vegan and incredibly delicious (though I didn't get to try everything we had to offer because our guests devoured them too quickly!) It was really hard to find a bakery that would be so flexible as to create all their items vegan, and A Piece of Cake & Desserts really impressed us!

We used A Piece of Cake & Desserts for our wedding in February 2019. The cake was delicious and was exactly the design I had requested. Working with Laurie was simple and did not take much time at all in the wedding planning process. I would highly recommend A Piece of Cake & Desserts for your event!

A piece of cake & desserts were so amazing to work with! Laurie made our cake tasting enjoyable and created the cake of our dreams! She truly took our beach inspired pictures and created the perfect cake for our wedding day! During the process Laurie was very responsive via email and I would most certainly hire her again!

Words aren't enough to describe how delicious and beautiful my wedding cake was! I had a pink champagne cake with 3 tiers, each filled with a different filling! It was so amazing! Every single one of my guests raved about how delicious and decadent the cake was, which made me beam with happiness! Can't forget the beautiful lace detail on the cake, that matched my wedding dress!! If you can dream it, Laurie can make it!

When we originally met with Laurie we were extremely excited about her cake. She mentioned how her fondant was the best fondant in Tampa, and her tasting was great she seemed very excited about our cake. After we hired her we regret our decision. We booked with her very early on, we never heard really from here the entire time until about the week before the wedding. They arrived to the venue late, got there just as the ceremony was about to start and I hated my cake. It was done in buttercream (which I normally prefer) but the cake had tons of piping done and the buttercream made it look sloppy, as well as the piping looked sloppy. It also arrived with a bride and a groom topper (we were having a harry potter wedding and at the tasting Laurie came up with the cute idea of two snitches with bowties) however when the cake arrived the snitches looked lumpy and were the wrong genders. Personally I feel like that's a huge thing to mess up and I had to fix it with a sharpie. I used to work in a bakery and I'm not ignorant to the skill and techniques needed to decorate cakes. But honestly it felt like they forgot about our wedding and did the cake last minute. The popcorn was good though.

The cake was beautiful and really delicious! A month later my friends keep telling me now delicious it was - two have even said it was better than their own wedding cake! I am leaving a 4 star review because Laurie was a bit challenging to get a hold of initially and the cake was a bit late on the big day. Once we signed the contract, Laurie said we could pick flavors closer to the wedding. Unfortunately, I did not remember to let her know what flavors we wanted, thinking she would remind me - so I emailed her a week before the wedding with our flavor selection. But the cake arrived in the correct flavors (lemon and vanilla confetti), and again, it was delicious!

Laurie was absolutely amazing. We loved her from the first time we met. She had nothing but confidence in being able to make the cake we wanted just by showing her a picture. Throughout the whole time once she was hired she was nothing but helpful and attentive to all of our needs. The cake turned out beautiful and it was absolutely delicious. Other than the top of our cake that we kept, nothing was left to spare of it, so the guests must have loved it too! I will recommend her to everyone looking for a cake of any sort!

I will begin by saying the cake looked beautiful and tasted amazing, so my review is no reflection on the actual product we received. My main complaint is on communication. We visited prior to Christmas and didn't get everything solidified until late January because of the lack of communication. We needed some very small changes made but it took days at a time to get a response, which made us very stressed and nervous as the wedding was quickly approaching. We were also a bit peeved about pricing. We discussed that we wanted flowers on the cake and had a discussion about sugar flowers because we didn't want live greenery on it. We used her through our hotel, so it was supposed to be a fixed rate we paid the hotel with no additional charges. When the contract came she didn't list the sugar flowers, so I asked and she said we were supposed to bring some from the florist. She then said that it was an upcharge to get flowers made from sugar. This was after a long wait for the contract and we were too close to the wedding date to start over with someone new. We paid the extra fee, which was fine, but it is something that should have been disclosed from the beginning. The finished product was well made, but if lack of communication is going to stress you out I would not recommend using this vendor.

Our wedding cake was just what I hoped for. The cake itself was so scrumptious and flavorful. Our cake arrived just in time and it had 3 tiers with buttercream frosting. We had two flavors. She created handmade plumeria flowers for our cake the week of Thanksgiving. On top of that we ordered three jumbo jars of flavored popcorn for our wedding. It was such a real treat for our guest...they loved the popcorn bar so much. Returning the jars was a pleasure as well. They did what was asked and delivered!

I am far from impressed by Lori! She lost my wedding cake order twice! She lost my dessert bar order as well which was placed separately! 3 weeks before my wedding I called to make sur everything was ready and she had no questions! I had to give my order all over again! I gave her a diagram of my cake so she knew exactly what I wanted! She delivered not only the wrong design on the cake but an UNFINISHED cake! She also messed up my dessert bar order, not that I should hav been surprised! She assured me she had everything and everything would be perfect!!! After losing my order twice I didn’t expect anything less! Well let me tell you what she offered for my UNFINISHED cake! A free anniversary cake! Why would I want anything else from her! When I told her that was unacceptable I never heard from her again! Bad business! Wish I could post pictures here!

Laurie was great to work with from beginning to end. I was a long distance bride so we did a lot of emailing back and forth. She answered emails promptly. We flew down to Florida 7 months before the wedding for the cake testing and some other wedding stuff. When we went for the cake tasting she had everything ready for us and gave us some great ideas to enhance the cake that we wanted. It was also great that we were able to have my mom and aunt there to taste the different cake flavors. With a 7 month time difference from the cake tasting to the day of, the cake was exactly what we had agreed upon. Our cake had two different flavors, Raspberry swirl with pink champagne butter cream and chocolate cake with cookies & cream buttercream. Both were delicious. She was very accommodating with changes, especially when we needed to add a sheet cake a month before the wedding. We had nothing but compliments about the cake from our wedding guests.

We cannot express how disappointed we were with my daughter's wedding cake. It looked nothing like the pictures we gave her many times. People said that it looked like a Sponge Bob cake. It was supposed to be a delicate gold pineapple. The bottom tei was supposed to have a cursive V with delicate palms on either side. Not the thick block letter and globs next to it. The cake was dry and grainy, no one ate more than one bite. Communication with the owner is extremely difficult. When she did respond it was the incorrect information and we would have to correct it and send it back to her over and over again. Horrible experience, would not recommend her to anyone.

Our cake was amazing and exactly what we had envisioned. Laurie and her team also provided our popcorn favors which were a huge hit and equally delicious. We would definitely recommend and use Laurie again for another event. Wonderful all around!

We are so happy we chose Piece of Cake to make our wedding cake. Laurie is very personable and really took her time during our tasting to make sure we loved the flavors we chose and our design. She custom designed a cake to match our blush, gold, and ivory theme and it was picture perfect! She also offers a wide variety of cake and filling flavors, there is no way you won’t find something you love and it is great quality and delicious. Piece of Cake also offers flavored popcorn in tons of different flavors. You can opt either to have them host a popcorn bar at you event that your guests can visit and take home some treats or get small packages made up to give as favors. We got small packages of a mix of cheddar and caramel popcorn as favors and our guests loved it. Lauri even made custom labels for them with our names and a message “thanks for popping by.” They were so cute!

A Piece of Cake was one of three options as part of our Hotel Wedding Ceremony/Reception package. I decided to go with them based on their website and reviews. There was delayed communication from Laurie so I just booked an appointment online and come to find out I guess that's what she wanted us to do anyways... When we came in for the tasting the shop was very cute and clean. Laurie sat with us and explained the ENDLESS combinations available for the cake flavor. Very overwhelming. She brought out our choices and the cake was AMAZING. No more emphasis needed on the taste of the cake...it was great. My issue is with the way the cake looked. As we were looking at the pictures of previous cakes she had done, we were explaining exactly what we wanted ("we want this from this cake", "that flower from that cake", etc.). She did not take any notes. We wanted a plain white cake with tons of flowers (different purples) cascading down and Laurie even said she could do gold tips on the end of the flowers for extra detail. She assured us the cake would look exactly how we wanted and she never had any delivery issues. The wedding day came and the cake was NOTHING like we ordered. My husband and I literally said, "What is that?" It was the most plain/ basic cake I had ever seen. There was one row of flowers cascading down. Not the "tons" of flowers we had discussed. No gold tips and only one color purple. The cake was not hideous so its not like the cake cutting was ruined BUT it was not what we described or paid extra for.

The cake was exactly like the picture I showed Laurie! It came out so beautiful and was incredibly delicious!!! Everyone loved the cake! She was even able to accommodate my egg allergy and my fiance almost liked my egg free version better than his! She was a rockstar!!!

We are still receiving compliments on our cake. We were directed to Piece of Cake through our venue. We went for our tasting and immediately fell in love with the amaretto flavor. We ordered a marble cake with amaretto flavoring and chocolate and vanilla ganache filling between some layers. We had a 4 tier cake and were only left with the top half for us to freeze. We (bride & groom) didn't even get to try the cake day of, except the bite we took when cutting it! Our guests RAVED about it. I also ordered a surprise grooms cake that was Tampa Bay lightning themed. It was just vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream icing but again, the guests raved about this as well. I definitely recommend Piece of Cake for your next event or wedding. Her popcorn is delicious too!

Luarie was fantastic! I had a very specific design i found that i really wanted. It inspired the entire theme of the wedding. When we went for our tasting everything was delicious and she was so easy to talk to and easy going and open to everything my husband and I wanted. The cake at the wedding was truly the best wedding cake I have ever had and her design was right on point with what I was looking for! Everyone loved the cake and even were hunting around the room for seconds and thirds. Laurie is a bit hard to get in touch with at times but has a fantastic talent, beautiful designs, and delicious cakes she was the aquariums recommended vendor and I would recommend her cakes to anyone!

We first met with Laurie last year and knew during our first tasting we didn't need to look further. We had a personalized tasting and she spent a lot of time with us. We never felt rushed. She listened to each detail and created a design for me & my fiance we loved. Throughout the course of the next several months we made some minor changes in color scheme and guest count. Each email and phone call was returned quickly; sometimes very late at night. Come the day of our wedding we had a cake that all our guests remarked how beautiful and some even remarked how much it really spoke to who we were as a couple. I was hesitant on fondant as I have had wedding cakes in the past with fondant and never liked. Laurie assured me that I wouldn't be disappointed with the fondant and she was absolutely right!! The taste was amazing. We have a top tier that will provide us with wonderful memories on our first anniversary. Thanks so much Piece of Cake for making our day so special!!!

When we first met with Laurie for a tasting, she was very nice. She told us she would come up with a sketch and get back to us. After a month, we tried relentlessly to get a hold of her, as she would never return our calls/emails. My fiancé finally stopped in her shop and she admitted she LOST all of her information and would need us to come back for a second tasting. (This should have been a red flag) however we made another appointment after several more unreturned calls. At this second tasting, she asked who all of my vendors were (not sure why she needed this information) and spoke VERY negatively about all of them. After this second tasting was done I realized we never signed a contract with her. It took me a MONTH to get a hold of her. She literally never returns calls or emails. Instead of sending an actual contract for us to review, all she did was email me a HIGHER price quote from what she told us at our tasting AND a $60 delivery charge she never mentioned before (she also "couldn't remember" whether of not we paid a deposit- which we did!). She refused to give us back our $50 deposit after we decided to finally give up and go elsewhere, despite the fact that we had never signed a contract and the deposit was never identified as nonrefundable. She didn't even remember whether we paid it or not! She also basically said she wasn't at fault for being so unresponsive and said she was "too busy during wedding season." (Which I even question in mid-February.. But isn't that her business anyway?!) If I can't even trust her to get back to me in a timely manner with a CONTRACT, I certainly don't trust her to deliver my wedding cake on time. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TO CONTACT THIS WOMAN. She is EXTREMELY unprofessional and it's not worth the stress and aggravation of trying to get a hold of her... For something as simple as a cake.

This was a preferred vendor through our venue and we met them at an event. Easy to work with and responded quickly to emails. The cost per serving was really affordable and adding on embellishments to cake, like sugar flowers, was too! We had a beautiful 3-tier cake and it didn't break the bank. The buttercream cake was so good that we didn't have any left over! We also rented a gorgeous gold metallic cake stand from the vendor as well so it was all from one place.

The cupcake tower for my wedding was delicious. The reason for the low ratings is strictly poor communication. Unfortunately phone calls do not get returned and emails take weeks to get a reply, it caused a lot of stress right before the wedding, but it ended up tasting delicious.

Despite reading mixed reviews, I went to a Piece of Cake cake tasting. The cakes were delicious and Laurie was wonderful. She had lots of photos of her cakes which showed great attention to detail. I also had a discount from the bridal shop where I purchased my dress, so I knew I could get a delicious cake at a reasonable price. After I emailed Laurie that I was ready to move forward, she sent me a contract. I had a couple of questions (and because of reviews I had read, wanted to make sure the contract had every detail right), and I never heard back. Needless to say I am not using A Piece of Cake for my wedding cake -- if you can't answer my questions to take my deposit, how can I count on you on my wedding day?

Cake tasted delicious. Make sure your contract is in writing to make sure that all of the cakes arrive and it is written exactly as you want it. There was confusion with my cake and part didn't show up, but what was there was delicious.

Lori did a great job with our cupcakes and top tier cake. We had 3 different flavor cupcakes with 3 different fillings and everyone said they were delicious. The only issue I had was communication. She did not always respond back in a timely manner (had to follow up a lot) and was not easy to get a hold of. All of our payments were cc authorizations and didn't charge us as directed. It ended up burdening us as we got closer to the wedding, but all in all, we were happy with the end result.

Laurie was wonderful when we first met; very understanding and made us feel at ease about her ability to create the design we wanted. We signed the contract which outlined the flavors of every layer of cake, the design, the topper, size of each layer. On wedding day, we did not get the flavors of the cake or the icing we ordered; we ordered one layer of coconut cake with chocolate ganache icing and chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for all remaining layers. Instead we got some layers of chocolate with peanut butter icing and other layers of chocolate cake with white icing. We never got the coconut/chocolate ganache layer but white cake with white icing. We were a bit surprised by this as it was clearly outlined in the contract. Initially, she was also really nice and gave us a gluten free 6" layer at no cost for some members of our family and we were so thrilled by her flexibility and generosity. On wedding day, we got a white gluten free cake instead of the chocolate gluten free cake we were expecting. She was good at responding prior to wedding day but was unreachable after wedding day when I called, e-mailed and left voicemail to ask her about returning the cake stand (listed in the contract). I do not think she gave us a base layer cake stand as outlined in the contract either which explains why the cake was a leaning tower by reception time and beginning to fall over. She was great at first but we were sad to be disappointed on wedding day.

We chose A Piece of Cake for our wedding cake. We went in for a taste-testing and had the BEST wedding cake I had ever tasted. We decided to go with yellow cake over chocolate so that our guests would get to have both flavors. Now, I’m not usually a chocolate cake kind of person (I generally prefer yellow cake), but their chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream was out of this world! Our guests were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the cake was because they are used to “regular” wedding cake.

We were so pleased with our wedding cake and our guests loved the cake so much, they asked for seconds and thirds! The cake presentation was beautiful and Laurie was very knowledgeable during our consultation, which was greatly appreciated. I am excited to have her make our first anniversary cake for us as I know it will be delicious!

Bought a grooms cake never delivered. Cake topper not on cake. Cake was leaning. The cake did taste good.

Laurie was fantastic! She created a delicious cake and even included two gluten-free layers for my groom. Highly recommended!

Laurie was awesome to work with. We chose to have red velvet cake with cheesecake filling and amaretto cake with dulce de leche filling. I jokingly called our wedding cake southern charm with Puerto Rican flare. It was the perfect mixing of our backgrounds. Our guests LOVED and could not stop talking to us about the cake and how delicious it was. I highly recommend if you want a cake your guests won't forget!

I loved Laurie! She was really nice and her cakes are amazing! She drew out what I wanted and the cake looked and tasted amazing. I used her for my groundsels too and she mad a fish that looked just like the picture I sent her, she is so talented, I will use her again!!!

This was the best cake I have ever had. Laurie created our grooms cake, to look exactly like our beloved bulldog. And our gluten free cake was amazing. We had no cake left!

I was just starting to worry when she took more than 24 hours to respond the week of, but she returned my call and assured me everything would be as I wanted it. IT WAS! The cake was more beautiful than I had imagined! and nice and moist still!

A Piece of Cake was one of the preferred vendors with our venue and we were able to first meet them and taste their cake at a bridal show held there. When we were ready to make decisions on the cake we called and scheduled out appointment. Our meeting went smoothly and we pretty much had decided exactly what we wanted. We left with being told we'd be emailed the description of the cake we talked about and the contract to sign and send back. I never received anything. I called and left several voice mails and sent several emails with no response. I decided to call 1 last time and finally had it answered. I signed the contract and sent it back with payment information for the deposit and cake stand rental, but then never heard anything. My card was also never charged. I emailed to confirm everything was set and was told all was good. I never heard anything again. When I met with my wedding coordinator at the venue, I confirmed with him that my cake was actually being delivered since I hadn't heard anything. He said I had nothing to worry about, but was aware of the lack of communication I was experienced. The cake was there, but it wasn't 100% what we had previously discussed and there was no cake stand. The cake was absolutely delicious though! So good that instead of freezing our top layer we ate it every day until it was gone. At the end of the day we were pleased with the cake, but just wish there was better communication leading up to it.

First of all, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cake tasting. We sat at a nicely decorated table and various little cake options with different fillings and creams were presented to us. It was very fancy and cute! Then, when I presented Laurie a picture of a cake that I wanted, little did I know that she had made that cake. So, of course, I hired her. We ended up with a simple yet beautiful three-tier fondant cake that looked exactly how I wanted and was perfectly topped off by flowers. Laurie was very friendly and the cake arrived promptly the day of the wedding. The little bit I got to taste during the wedding was really good. I'm looking forward to the year anniversary to eat our top layer :)

We asked for a vegan cake, the Laurie delivered with the best tasting cake I've ever had! It was beautiful, delicious, and no one would have known it was vegan unless we told them. It was absolutely perfect.

Laurie was fantastic. We gave her a copy of our invitation and she created a cake with our colors and style. At the meeting she gave us a bunch of cake and icing flavors to try and we created any combination of flavors we liked. My guests RAVED about the cake!! I will plan to use her for future cake needs!! Highly recommend!

We had an odd request for our wedding cake, and Laurie-the owner- was so sweet and super excited to make it! My husband and I both work in Law Enforcement and wanted a white cake with "police tape" covering the bottom of the layers. Laurie was so sweet and helpful throughout the whole process! The price was amazing- $500 for a three tiered cake to serve 80 people! She also had so many different cake flavors and filling flavors, and was so helpful by giving us a tasting to try all of her works of art! We got SO MANY compliments on the way our cake looked and tasted- so glad we chose A Piece Of Cake!!!! HIGHLY recommended!!!!

Laurie's cakes are OUT OF THIS WORLD, DELICIOUS!!!!! The best cake I have ever ever had!!!!! The cake was beautiful and no one at our wedding would have thought otherwise. I was very please with the service and professionalism that Laurie extended, until after the wedding. I called to inform Laurie that the cake tasted amazing and was very very pretty, but not what we discussed or what I had in mind, but very close. 2 weeks prior t my wedding I stop in to give Laurie my cake topper and at that time we went over the details and made a few changes. I had a copy of all the details of the cake and several were incorrect and not updated from when we last spoke. I changed a few of the colors arrangemnts and decorations leading up to the wedding (which in the contract were not aloud) but, I was confident that the changes would be included in the final cake. I wrote an email explaining my concerns about my cake and no one every replied. I wanted to make Laurie aware of the imporfections so that it would not happen to anyone else. I have seen several other cakes from Laurie and they all taste an look amazing. I really enjoyed working with Laurie as well she has a great personality and is very talented. I was a little disappointed in the final cake, but like I said it was still beautiful just not 100% what a asked for. I would recommend this vendor to any Bride, just make sure both parites are clear on your decor instructions.

Working with Laurie at a piece of cake was just that "a piece of cake"!! She was so accommodating and really worked with us and our budget!! She was able to make the beautiful delicious cake we dreamed of for a price that we could afford. She was so easy to get in touch with and everything just fell into place. We are looking forward to getting more cakes from Laurie in the future!

She was more than accomodating when we had to make changes in numbers of cupcakes. For the most part, it was what I wanted. There was a bit of miscommnication, but nothign that would ever ruin it. The cake was more than amazing, moist and delicious!

The staff at A Piece of Cake were phenomenal. Our cake was everything we wanted and more. And the cake was Delicious!

I could gush about the wonderful cake that we got from Laurie! The cake was kind of a last minute idea for me... I am actually from Canada and she was so helpful. I really wanted something different that I couldnt find in Canada. So I decided on doing push up cake pops in a stand and then having a small cake on top. There were so many different flavors to pick from! Once we got down there I had a meeting with Laurie and she was so nice and helpful. We got to try the flavors I picked and WOW! I wanted to bring her back to Canada with me. I kinda gave her creative pick on the cake she did and it turned out way better than anything I could've thought up! I would definitely recomend this company! The price was so great for what we got!

The cake tasted great but was lacking in looks. The process of getting the cake was a nightmare. Unreturned emails and phone calls. Very frustrating. Luckily the cake was included with the venue

We used a piece of cake for our wedding cake and the cake turned out amazing. It was better then I could have imagined. The cake looked greats with the two tiers of lace detail and two tiers of design detail. Laurie was great to work with at giving us suggestions that she thought would work best and gave suggestions on what she could make for a cake stand too. The cake stand looked great with the cake design and really made everything look great. The cake tasted wonderful too. Laurie had different combinations you could use for fillings and we came up with two combinations that we loved using chocolate ganache, rasp purée and Bavarian cream. We received so many compliments about how great the cake looked and tasted from our guests. Laurie was even able to make me a few gluten free cupcakes for my dad which was a nice surprise for him at the wedding.

My wedding cake was fabuluos. She truly has a talent with her flavors and cake design, I would recommend her business to many as I already have sent her clients. Delicious! Everyone enjoyed the cake and some even had 2 pieces.

A Piece of Cake literally made my cake decisions a breeze. I found out about a Piece of Cake by sampling one of their cakes at White Closet Bridal. I immediately scheduled an appointment with them because their cake was delicious! Laurie was able to schedule an appointment and work with my tight schedule since I was only in town for the weekend. She listened to all the details of my wedding and sketched a cake design that fit within the look and feel of my wedding. Her pricing was very fair for the cake and the actual cake for my wedding was beautiful. And of course everyone talked about how delicious the cake was!
