Used Tina for full wedding planning 18 mos prior to my daughter’s wedding. She fell short of our expectations. Pros: she was pleasant, it was very helpful that she knew the venue &...
caterer well (both selected prior to hiring her.) We live out of town so our availability for in person meetings was limited. It was great that she was able to schedule our tasting with the caterer during their busy season. She worked regularly with the DJ (suggested by her) and she was helpful in communicating concerns just days before the wedding. Her design suggestions were nice.
Cons: she often a week+ to respond to emails. Gave her the benefit of the doubt because it was mos away (she's a one-woman operation.) Communication was still too slow in the months before the wedding. On the wedding day calls sometimes went unanswered and I had difficulty finding her.
She didn't check invoices from vendors. Had I not reviewed things carefully I would have overpaid nearly 50% for linens.
We wanted a claw machine (mentioned in our first meeting.) Four months before the wedding she still wasn't able to find one. We found one with a 15 min online search. Tina didn’t even do a simple Google search. Tina recommended vendors, but only if she previously worked with them. Florists Tina recommended did not fit my daughter’s design vision. My daughter actually found our florist.
Tina used Aisle Planner to create a seating chart which I meticulously completed. We put a lot of effort into creating our seating plan, taking into account proximity to bride/groom, guests near friends, older guests far from loud music, etc. Unfortunately 100+ guests were in the wrong seats. because she didn't follow the seating chart.
At least one name on the escort wall (custom-made) was misspelled. Not sure if Tina provided vendor with the wrong spelling or it was their mistake since she has refused any follow after the wedding.
We rented an old fashioned phone to record audio messages from guests. Found out it wasn’t working at the end of cocktail hour so I quickly told Tina. It was finally working 3 hours into the evening. Follow up from the company proved it was never turned on, despite clear & simple instructions in the box. Tina must have realized it wasn't on, but she never explained or apologized for the mistake.
She didn't keep the timeline she helped create. Some of it due to speeches going longer than planned (fully on us.) She failed on many other timeline elements: ceremony started 10 min late even though the wedding party was ready 45 min beforehand, post ceremony bride & groom were kept by the photog/videographer much longer planned, and guests were ushered into reception 25 min late.
Tina NEVER ONCE asked about bouquet preservation during our 18+ months of planning. My daughter was preserving her bouquet, booked a vendor 6 months in advance, but we forgot to tell Tina. After the wedding Tina left the bouquet in a plastic bin she knew we weren’t permitted to pick up until 2 days post wedding. If she even asked me at the end of the evening I could have taken it. HUGE failure as a FULL planner.
We had 130 guests, six figures - at upper end of price range she typically handles (per info she gave in our first interview.) We had numerous surprises and unconventional elements. Tina was aware of them in advance. She was over her head coordinating details, understaffed on the day, and unable to handle it all. If your event is simple & slow response doesn't bother you, she could be fine

was searching for a planner that I knew I had to go with her. We didn’t have the slightest idea of what we wanted for our wedding but Tina helped guide us through the process not by making decisions for us but by showing us options and giving us suggestions.
Insert COVID and by May 2020 all of the plans we had made were not allowed to happen. We had to decide to either postpone our wedding or go through with it but at a different venue. We decided to move ahead with the wedding and canceled everything we had planned in the original location; meaning we had to replan a wedding in 1 month. Tina was right there with us helping get everything squared away at the new location and it turned out even better than it would have at the first location. We cannot begin to thank Tina and her team enough. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful and it is something we will look back on very fondly. Thank you Tina! You are a rockstar!

My now-husband and I threw a surprise wedding so we could avoid many of the traditional aspects of the ceremony/reception that weren't important to us (bridal parties, cake cutting...
, bouquet tosses, first dances, etc.) We wanted to have a celebration of love (and an epic party) and from the minute we first talked to Tina she was absolutey on board with our vision - even though it was unconventional and something she hadn't done before.
Despite that, we couldn't have pulled off such an amazing event without all of her experience, knowledge and expertise to guide us along the way! For example, during our ceremony, instead of having our guests sit in chairs facing us, we had them stand around us in a circle to create a more intimate atmosphere and it was absoultey beautiful - but something we never would have thought of without Tina!
Tina is a true professional and listens to what you want as a client, helps you fit those things within your budget and still managaes to enhance everything in a way that you didn't even think was possible.
Our venue required that we have a day-of coordinator but we quickly realized that we needed Tina every step of the way. From organizing timelines to accessing discounts through her vendor relationships, Tina is worth every penny...and more!! She is timely, genuine, proactive, detail oriented and all around just a great person. My husband actually cried when we did our venue reveal on the day of our wedding and I credit all of that to Tina. 10/10 the best of the best and we can't recommend her enough!! It rained 15 minutes prior to our ceremony and like a true professional, Tina developed our action back up plan and moved all of the pieces into their secondary places. The day of our wedding was absolutely seamless. Our wedding had the feel of a much more expensive event, with impeccable planning and flow. She made many recommendations that really elevated the feel of the event, such as having pre-poured glasses of wine waiting for guests as soon as the ceremony ended to avoid lines at the bar and to coax the crowd to the cocktail hour location. h Tina, I felt relief and confidence in her that she knew what she was doing. Not only did I watch her coordinate three of my good friends weddings (which were all very different in style- she’s clearly dynamic!), but I felt like I was talking to my best friend. I loved my wedding day. There's always something that goes off the rails at a wedding, but no one but me, the groom, and Tina knew any of that. From running rehearsal, to helping us stick to schedule, to being there for moral support during a melt down, to keeping us informed of all that was going on behind the scenes, Tina was the perfect person to be there for us to "run" our wedding so we could enjoy our day. There is no such thing as a perfect wedding. Things will happen on your wedding day. That’s the reality and fact of the situation. The goal is for your planner to be sure that you know NOTHING! We found out that our baker got our wedding date confused and we almost didn’t have our cake, the transportation forgot
to pick up our parents, and our reverend was late for our rehearsal (but he did show up)!
Normally, you would freak out about the things I listed above. With Tina, there was no need to. She made sure our cake was there on our wedding day, our parents made it to the venue successfully (we got a refund for the transportation), and she ran the rehearsal while we waited for the reverend so that no time was waisted.
If we could give Tina more than five stars, we would! It was a fun and eventful journey to get to our wedding day, and it wouldn't have been possible without Tina! Trust us when we say she is a VISIONARY as she made our theme which was Modern Fairytale come to life. She knows all the right vendors for things because she’s been in the industry for a long time, and she will be honest with you about the entire wedding planning process.

After seeing how much work went into researching, scheduling and touring venues, my husband was quickly on board with hiring a wedding planner to help guide us throughout our planning process. Tina came highly recommended to us by our venue, Ritchie Hill. Prior to meeting with Tina I had spoken to a few local planners, but ultimately chose to go with Tina because she is personable, cheerful and I could quickly tell that she has a passion for what she does and would be able to make my wedding visions come to life. Throughout the year of working with Tina, she was always great about being flexible to meet with me 1:1 to talk about the wedding and would also attend vendor meetings with us; even prior to hiring Tina she met me in person rather than an over the phone meeting, which meant a lot to me as silly as that may sound! She always came to meetings organized, on time and gave me her full attention during the duration of our meetings. She was always quick to respond to emails and text messages - she would even reach out to our vendors on our behalf with any questions we had for them. When our wedding weekend came and we had our rehearsal at the venue, Tina made sure everyone stayed focused and knew their placements. The day of the wedding Tina and her team did a phenomenal job with everything from the schedule to the decor to our exit; they kept us on track the whole nights while also not making us feel rushed. As far as decor, Tina truly made my Pinterest boards come to life...when I first walked downstairs and saw everything for the first time I literally gasped because it looked even better than I envisioned it would. It’s been a month since our wedding and my family still talks about how great everything looked and how flawlessly everything flowed-none is this would have been possible without A Simple Affair Events. Looking back on our wedding day I would not change a single thing, especially not our decision to hire Tina as our wedding planner!!

I would highly recommend Tina and her team for wedding planning, and in fact two of my friends are using her as well for their weddings. On wedding day her team was amazing and so helpful!! all times - I was quite positive I could handle our wedding. However, as time grew closer I decided I didn't want to do the stressful work during our wedding week - I just wanted to focus on our marriage (The goal: wake up married on Sunday, everything else is a bonus). When I first met Tina I knew she was the perfect match for us - making everything look care-free and fun up front but behind the scenes working her booty off to get things done correctly. We (and by "we" I mean "I") had A TON of diy decorations for set up and seriously we don't know how we could have even had a reception if it weren't for Tina and her team -including the surprise Ghostbusters exit with us leaving in the Echo1 car (I'll let her tell you that story). I first started with a different coordinator who told me up front that she didn’t set up all the decor which is the main reason i went searching else where after talking everything over I was so comfortable and confident in this company. I was very thorough by explaining all of the decor I had purchased for the event. I set things up in my phone and sent pictures as well as discussing and drawing out in person. The day of I also had everything organized into storage boxes labeled as well as everything in the box labeled so that there was no question as to what needed to be done! Decor is everything to me and I spent countless hours for a year planning and searching for everything for my day!! Well needless to say my day was ruined by decor. I had at least 4 boxes that had never been touch or even attempted to be opened. I was at the venue all day as our bridal suite was there prior to getting ready I went out to take a peak multiple times, each time Bryce was walking around talking to the vendors I thought we had plenty of time as she kept assuring us that she didn’t need any help. I urged her multiple times prior to the day and the day of to come and get me if she needed anything or needed any help reminding her that helping with the decor would actually be soothing to me. This was never done. My entire wedding party was ready to go and we were waiting on Bryce to finish getting things up. A couple minutes prior to this they were loading decor never opened into the grooms lounge when my groom got my bridesmaids and mother/mother in law and sent them out to set things up because none of it was done. My wedding was delayed because the decor was not set up. The pictures and things we talked about never got accomplished she took it into her own hands to set up things how she felt they should be thrown together. No one wants their wedding day thrown together, if there was issues as I expressed earlier I wish she would have come to someone and asked for help as myself, my wedding party, my mother AND mother in law all tried to help her and she told them she had it under control not to worry until the last moment when they saw she did not. I saw Bryce when I was walking down the aisle after that I saw Bryce two more times the whole night. Thankfully she wrote out a timeline that my band had because they announced everything. As I said I did not see her the whole night. I had multiple people ask me if it was her first wedding including my photographer who knew my vision and was fixing multiple decor pieces of mine as well as helping Bryce and her assistant set everything up the correct way. Throughout the entire night i was noticing things being set up wrong and fixing them or asking Bryce’s assistant to fix them for me!!! INSANITY!!!! I don’t know where my day went wrong but at this rate I wish I went with another company!!!
To make matters worse I brought this attention to Tina she respectfully answered promptly and was very concerned. After speaking with Bryce she informed me that my vision being fully set up wasn’t in the contract but because of the things that happened to my day she was going to refund me $300.. $300 out of $1,500. She said she believed this was fair. I believe the only person it is fair to is her company. I would have paid double the amount for my wedding to have been set right and to have had my day perfectly. I spent more than $1,500 on the decor that was never even touched in the unopened boxes! The entire thing is very sad to me and the fact that this is the compensation I get is also very disappointing.

I sent an inquiry and Tina was in touch less than 24 hours later. She was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive from the start. My now-husband was a bit skeptical about hiring a planner at first. Within weeks, he was regularly commenting on how lucky we were to have Tina in our corner. She worked tirelessly with us for nearly a year. She connected us with fantastic vendors. She helped us figure out where and how to best spend our wedding budget. She moved mountains to incorporate details that were important to us. For example, our wedding was very family centered. We married in my husband's family church on my parents' anniversary. We wanted to honor our families and recognize those who could not be with us by hanging framed photographs of them on the church pews, which did not have an obvious place from which to hang photos. Tina made it happen. When the doors opened and I started down the aisle, I saw my husband, our friends and family, and the smiles of family members who have passed. That moment is priceless to me. Tina's attention to detail and diligence carried over to the reception. We had to incorporate a rain plan days before the wedding. She found and installed a beautiful pipe & drape that made the space warmer and more classic than it would have been without it. The room was perfectly executed with every detail we had discussed in place. Thanks to Tina's excellent florist recommendation, we had fabulous floral displays, including a large hoop full of floating tulips. Tina and her assistant transitioned the hoop from cocktail hour seating chart to cake cutting backdrop seamlessly. If there were hiccups on our big day, we weren't aware of them. Tina had everything handled, which gave us time to enjoy each other, the event, and our friends and family! At the end of the night, Tina willingly and flawlessly executed the perfect sendoff, picking up lighted balloons in the middle of the reception, distributing them to our guests at the end of the night, and directing them on how and when to release them as we walked by. We had rented a classic car, which showed up more than fashionably late. Before it arrived, Tina had an excellent backup plan ready for execution. When the car did show, she quickly transitioned back. These are just a few examples of Tina's dedication and commitment to her couples. We are so grateful that she was with us throughout the planning process. Her vision is unmatched and her execution is flawless. Without her ideas, we would not have had the wedding we did. If you're not sure whether you need a planner, talk to Tina about it! She has a realistic sense of how the process works and what's required. She will tell you the truth and you will always be better for having her guidance. She is worth every penny and, frankly, probably many more than she charges. As a result, we really appreciated Tina providing a curated list of her “go-to” vendors. While I’m sure we could’ve asked Tina to setup meetings with various other vendors to meet and compare offerings, we didn’t always have that flexibility being so far away from Charlotte.
