DJ Carol was punctual and very professional from start to finish: she gracefully talked us through her suggestions, and what to expect from A Starry Night Music, and then left plenty of room for us to brainstorm with her and make requests. DJ Carol truly thinks of every detail which helped put us at ease, so much so that we felt truly taken care of throughout the entire process of working with her. For our Jewish wedding, we had some very specific music requests: for example, we asked that the music for the hora dance (circle dancing) last for about 30 minutes, and start and end with a specific song. Not only did DJ Carol create a seamless process, her DJ skills are so smooth and her choices are so skillful that our hora kept dancing for an hour! While we didn't work as closely with Beledo before the wedding, his flamenco guitar skills are smooth, and highly capable. We asked him to play during our cocktail hour, and were so impressed. Overall, A Starry Night Music received our highest praise, and we sincerely hope that you'll be able to work with Carol and Beledo. We are so grateful for the heart that they put into their music, as well as their grace, professionalism, skill, and genuine hospitality throughout.

When we asked her to make specific edits to our first dance, she did them perfectly; when my mom surprised her with extra speeches at the last minute, she incorporated them seamlessly into the evening; when we asked her to play our ceremony at the last minute, she did, and she did it so well, and for such a reasonable price. Anytime we emailed or texted her, she got back to us immediately. She collaborated with our event coordinator to make sure the evening moved smoothly. work with; she is very sweet and knew our venue so well as she is there almost every weekend. We worked together to come up with a perfect playlist for our music taste, as well as a timeline for all of the formalities throughout the night (speeches, dances, cake cutting, etc.). She was a great master of ceremonies, keeping interruptions to a minimum. The dance floor was crowded all night, and once all of the planned parts of the night were over, I don’t think I left the dance floor for the remainder of the night!
We also booked the music for our ceremony/cocktail hour through Carol. Her husband, Beledo, is a talented guitarist and pianist, and he played for both parts of the day. He was able to play all of our requested music for the ceremony, and during cocktail hour he played a simple mix of guitar and piano that was the perfect background music. My dad and I walked down the aisle to “Sea of Love” by Cat Power, and it was one of my favorite moments of the entire day.

By the end of their set, we wished we had them stay longer. DJ Marla was great once she took over the music. The music volume hit that sweet spot where it was pleasantly loud enough to set the party vibe and keep our guests dancing and in good spirits, but also just moderate enough to allow for personal conversation without ever having to strain to hear or be heard. This consideration for the attendees is such an important intangible. Done right, and you’ll never have to hear complaints about volume. Instead, all we received were compliments and praise about the great music selection; a selection that DJ Carol put together herself.
Another important intangible was the excellent communication about specific requirements and preferences that I had with Carol. She was refreshingly super pleasant, articulate, and accommodating about the details that were required. It was like talking to an ol’ friend who happened to be a seasoned pro, who you honestly just felt and knew would be completely trustworthy. And, this is coming from me, a perfectionist with the tendency to, dare I say, micromanage at times. In other words, when I spoke about the details for this event with DJCarol, I knew that this, DJing, was one less thing that I had to worry about. Priceless.

It set the mood for the night, and Beledo’s piano music during the cocktail hour was the perfect backdrop.

vailable via phone and mail and kept the evening alive from arrival to the final getting everyone on the dance floor for the last couple of tunes. We left the evening on a complete buzz and only wish that we had been able to continue into the wee, small hours.
Carol also came to our assistance when a last minute panic meant we were unsure of what was happening with our photographer. Five minutes later and she had a backup for us lined up and waiting in the wings to assist as needed.
Carol was the ultimate professional and not only did we leave the night with our feet exhausted but all our guests raved about the music. There was most certainly something for everyone from the teens to the oldies, everyone was up on the dance floor.
Not only did Carol manage the entertainment but also stepped up as MC for the evening, guiding us through the speeches and celebrating with us. We would not hesitate to recommend her and her team for your event.

de and groom will remember vividly for the rest of their lives. Carol unfortunately ruined this one day. Carol played my brother's wedding and unfortunately she was the worst part of the night. She might as well have dropped off a radio and left it on a station and walked out. Each song was played in its entirety whether it was a 3 minute song or 10 minute song. There was no transitioning or mixing or getting the crowd excited about the music she was playing or anything of the sort. There was no connection whatsoever from one song to the next. Her speakers were horrific as she was asked multiple times to increase the volume. I have never seen a DJ sit on a stool as Carol did all night. I have never seen a DJ be so uninvolved or disconnected with their equipment or music they are playing, as Carol was. Songs were repeated over and over. Unfortunately, the night cannot be redone but fortunately everything else was great. I would discourage anyone who is thinking of using her for a special event.

Despite our numerous calls and emails with her (including detailed lists telling her what songs we wanted earlier in the night, in the middle and at the end), it was as if she was flying blind at our wedding. She didn't play most of our songs, repeated multiple songs, had no idea how to transition songs, and our cake-cutting song "wouldn't play". Through all of this, she was extremely rude to us and made no attempt to salvage the night. "We made the best of it" shouldn't be the feeling you take away from your wedding. Please look for a DJ who knows what they're doing.

refund our money. Instead of an apology or working things out with us, she and her husband have launched personal attacks against us. These people are nuts.
Carol did not play the majority of songs on our list, ones that were VERY important to both of us. Ones that we agreed she would play both in writing and on the phone. She also repeated at least four different songs.
Additionally, the versions of the songs she downloaded were often not the original version, some were radio edits (even though we agreed to having explicit versions play later in the night) and some were just weird covers obviously not by the original artist that we listed. It was like the bad karaoke version of wedding music. She obviously did not preview any of this music and didn’t even have the majority of the songs on our list ready to play.
She also did not know how to do song transitions. They were odd, abrupt and sometimes there were pockets of silence in between.
For our cake cutting, she did not have our song ready to play. This caused a huge delay, large period of silence and we ended up having to plug one of our friend’s phones in (something she also didn’t know how to do). She also did not seem to know how to work her own computer or sound system.
Due to the fact that we had to constantly come over to tell her that she was repeating songs and ask that she play songs from our list, we lost track of time. Couple that with the time lost trying to get our cake song to play, we didn’t have an opportunity to dance with our parents. Something we will never get back.
We only had one day to make this a happy occasion and we spent a lot of time and effort putting together a music list that was important to us. We spent multiple phone calls with Carol outlining everything and she adhered to maybe 20% of what we agreed to.
We made the best of it, enjoyed our day and were grateful for having everyone together to celebrate. It was very sad and disappointing to us though that a big part of our day was focused on Carol.
If you are thinking of hiring Carol, save your money and just plug your iPhone in instead. Carol & Beledo are both extremely unprofessional and have been terrible to deal with. We don't want what happened to us to happen to anyone else.

From our first meeting with Carol, we were so excited to have her be a part of our big day! Our emails were answered quickly and she seemed to get our vision. A few months before our date Carol sent us the DJ forms to fill out (wedding details,...
timeline, song lists, etc). A week before the wedding, Carol emailed me and asked if we were available to chat, I said yes, we could chat the next evening, but then I never heard from her again. We did not end up speaking the week before the wedding, but I was confident in Carol (and busy with other things!) and her ability to execute. However, looking back I feel that I should have stayed on top of Carol to ensure this meeting was held, as there were a few items on our Wedding day that didn’t go quite as planned.
Our guests were sent onto the dance floor for introductions and the bridal party and parents were held in a separate room awaiting intros. On our wedding details page I had sent to Carol prior to the wedding, I specifically put “no parent introductions”, so I was surprised to see the parents waiting for introductions with the rest of the bridal party. However, trying to go with the flow, I figured it was fine and not worth causing a stir about. However, Carol did not have our parent’s names (as they weren’t supposed to be introduced). Our venue maître d’ stated Carol was on her way over to write down their names, again not a big deal. However, it took Carol several minutes to come over to get the parent’s names, then she had to go find a pen to write them down. I wouldn’t have been too annoyed, however this whole time our guests were standing on the dance floor awaiting the intros. It felt like they were waiting for an eternity, although I’m sure it was more like 5 minutes, but nonetheless, any amount of time was too long.
The other thing that I wasn’t so happy about was when I had multiple guests come up to me throughout the night stating Carol was not taking requests. Again, trying to go with the flow, I went over the Carol and nicely asked her to allow guests requests. Instead of a simple “of course!” I ended up in a conversation about why certain requests weren’t being taken.
Overall, Carol was just an average DJ. Maybe we just caught her on a bad night, but the one vendor I was not worried about and thought would hit it out of the park, ended up being just ‘ok’.

I was summoned to come out and lineup the bridal party. My very clear notations were that there were definitely not going to be parent introductions at the beginning.
I was completely taken by surprise when I was told by the maître d' at the last minute of the change including the parents. Ashlee never gave me the names of their parents in our paperwork. The maitre’d ran to find a pen to write down their names as they were never given to me. I was taken by surprise more than anyone - I had been perfectly prepared. I was shocked at this major change and that I should be held responsible.
Regarding the requests, I was focusing on playing the bride and groom's song list. I absolutely did take and play quite a few requests throughout the evening. There was one person who was trying to give me a request and we were interrupted by staff about the cake time so I politely asked her to wait a moment and she just walked away.
I always try to accommodate the guests requests and prioritize the bride and groom's song list.
I always do my best to accommodate everyone especially the bride and groom.

So, this year as co-chair of our country club's 125th Anniversary Ball, I knew we had to have Carol. Our club always has a band so we were breaking with tradition when we decided to go the DJ route. Trust me, there were people who questioned that decision. The result? Carol was absolutely incredible and better than any band we have ever had. Everyone raved about her and said she was so much better than a band! I've never seen the dance floor so full for so long at a party at our club. We had 659 people in attendance and she managed to get every one of them out to the dance floor. Fortunately, we had a huge dance floor because with Carol at the helm, you need a huge dance floor. She played non-stop for 6 1/2 hours and there were many that would have stayed 6 hours more!
Whenever I recommend someone or something to anyone, I always worry that they will not meet expectations EXCEPT when I recommend Carol. She is, quite simply the best, the most professional, and the most spectacular DJ. She made our 125th Ball the best party ever. From our youngest member (age 23) to our oldest (age 99) they all said she was fantastic.
Not only that, but she is so easy to work with. Her ideas about lighting and extra musicians for the dinner hour made the party. She interacted seamlessly with our videographing team and our staff. She gives 110% of herself and personally takes it on herself to make the party great. In addition, she may be the nicest person I have ever met; she makes you smile just to know her.

On the actual day, she set the mood perfectly. We had given her a well curated list of songs to play that we were certain would get everyone dancing - but it was actually a song off the list that got everyone to get on the dance floor. On the night of the wedding, there was a torrential downpour just as the reception was starting... For our lovely outdoor patio reception... Carol was set up in the corner under a tent and was getting completely soaked. The management was being less than helpful about rigging up a solution, but through it all, Carol was positive and upbeat and completely focused on the wedding and our reception (she was COMPLETELY soaked through all of this). The fact that she remained so positive infused the reception with a spirit of "this is fun and we are in it together" - we couldn't have asked for a better feeling to the night. She really went above and beyond and was so incredibly professional through all of it.
The pricing was extremely reasonable and she even gave us a 5th hour complimentary.

xtremely flexible and professional, her knowledge of music is extremely far-ranging, and she made it clear from the start that our opinions count. She also did a great job as a second (and free) wedding organizer, stepping into the chaos of our wedding and helping the official organizer move us around to where we needed to be, for photos, eating, and dancing. I only wish we had more time to dance (due to our own fault, we started later and had less time than planned), since everyone loved the music. We certainly did not want to leave the dancefloor, and I hope we will have another occasion to hire Carol for more celebrating!

he time and I looked at each other and thought the same thing: this DJ is going to be the DJ at our wedding one day. Fast-forward three years, and once we got engaged I reached out to my friend for her DJ's contacts. Carol and I spoke on the phone and it was an immediate connection. She is so kind and personable, achieved and good at what she does. Booking a DJ was probably the easiest vendor selection we made in the entire process.
Luckily, Carol had previously performed at our venue, New Leaf Restaurant & Bar. Turns out having a DJ who is already familiar with the space is huge. Even more luckily, she got to meet the frustrating and stressful event director and effortlessly calmed my nerves - even about the non-DJ related things!
Carol asked for a list of must-plays and keeps her promise of playing them all. Her library is extensive, her software is kick@$$. There was no "YO! YO! YO!" or any other screaming by a DJ that my husband and I wanted to avoid. Our guests were so impressed by her and the music she played. She even took requests and got my approval for a request or two that were on my Do Not Play list!

up to the wedding. She made the planning process easy and stress free guiding us through all the music details and aspects of the timeline that we needed to think about. The day of the wedding she was there early and set up/ready to go on time. She worked well with the staff at our venue (Battery Gardens) to make sure that everyone was on the same page. The night flowed smoothly, her announcements were succinct and classy (she has such a great voice!) She made sure that everyone gathered around the dance floor for our first dance and parent dances. Carol followed all of our requests and seamlessly added in other great songs. My husband and I were very happy with the music and I had a blast dancing the night away!

prospective DJs and settled on A Starry Night since Carol seemed easy to work with, very professional, and classic. Carol was very responsive throughout the whole process (even while she was away on vacation) and helped us personalize our night nicely. She offered to craft a mix of songs for our first dance and we took her up on the offer and asked her to put 3 (very different) songs together. She worked very hard on the mix, making multiple versions to match our suggestions and it came out great! She even gave us a digital copy to practice dancing with. When it came time at the reception for our first dance, the first part played wonderfully but the second part was left out, going straight to the third part – it ended up not being a huge problem at all, we still had our moment, and she apologized profusely. The only other minor hangup was that the cake-cutting was either not announced or said very quietly, my fiancé and I recognized the song we picked and rushed over but several guests mentioned missing this part from not hearing an announcement. The rest of the night was fantastic, we only requested a couple of “must-have” songs and she flowed the rest of the songs beautifully, the dance floor was packed for the majority of the evening and was a lot of fun! During cocktail hour and dinner hour she kept the music at a reasonable volume as to not be too loud for the older guests, many commented on how nice the entire evening was. All in all, it was a pleasure working with Carol and we’d recommend her services.

It was a lovely evening. However I would like to clarify these comments. It is the job of the maître d’ to make sure everyone is in place before I’m told by them to make an announcement. As the DJ it is my job to follow the command of the maît...
re d' who is in charge especially in the case of toasts or special announcements. I always double check personally, but in this particular venue, the DJ is stationed in a separated room.
When told to do the toasts right away, I asked the maître d’ if everyone was ready and I was absolutely assured that everyone was in place and ready for the toasts.
All of a sudden the father of the bride went outside to smoke. We were all taken by surprise. The guests were commenting knowingly where the father was. In fact, he was outside smoking for much of the party.
Before the cake cutting I saw the FOB in the room and once again checked with the maître d’ that everyone was ready. Even though it is not my job, before announcing the cake cutting, I asked the maître d’ to call in the photographer who was taking some shots in another room. Then, once the photographer came in, apparently some family members had wandered to another part of this lovely old house.
During dessert, I was playing some lighter music like you are supposed to at that time, but once asked to pick it up, I responded immediately.
We’ve saved the day many times in many parties going outside of our job description to make sure the flow of the party is maintained. This party was challenging because many of the family members were constantly leaving the main area of the reception and staying by the bar or outside.

Before our wedding, we recommended her to friends of ours getting married in January, so we got to see her in action again before our May wedding! Of course, she was AWESOME and kept everyone on the dance floor all night. That wedding also involved Macedonian dancing and everyone got involved and had a great time! It made us even more excited to have Carol DJ our wedding.
Leading up to the wedding, Carol was wonderful to work with. She is very organized and responsive. She sent us forms to fill out with the details of our reception and "must plays," "favorites," and "do not plays." We had some fairly obscure songs on our list, and she made sure she had all of them for our big night. She even cut our entrance song, Enter Sandman, perfectly, just the way we wanted it, and sent us the sound file so we could listen to it and approve it a few weeks before our wedding.
At our wedding, Carol was PHENOMENAL. She is so classy and made our reception elegant and so much fun. She has such a nice voice over the microphone and never rambles on like so many DJs do. She really encourages dancing between courses, which I think is great. I spent most of my wedding on the dance floor, which is exactly what I wanted to do, and all of our family and friends were right there with us because Carol kept the party going. She played all of our "must plays" and "favorites" and of course none of our "do not plays." She also took requests and played her own selections, and it was all perfect and seamless! Also, we had a Jewish wedding, and she has a great mix for the Hora and the Mezinke, and even though the majority of our guests were not Jewish, everyone joined in the fun! Carol is also very attuned to the bride and groom during the reception, so if you want a song to be cut short, or anything else, you just give Carol a look and she will know what you want!
I 100% recommend Carol for your wedding, bar/bat mitzvah, or any occasion. She has a gift and she uses it to make your event perfect. She is so wonderful that two of my friends getting married over the next year have also hired her. My husband and I are so excited to see her and dance until our feet hurt all over again!!!

evening which went by incredibly smooth. Today when a song from our cocktail hour, or the wedding dinner comes up, my husband and I look at each other and smile, because it reminds us of our night, these songs, and most importantly the timing of the songs, became the soundtrack of our wedding! We could no decide on a song to cut the cake, so I instinctively told Carol to surprise me, she played a song that made me cry as I walked to our wedding cake. SHE'S THAT GOOD!! It was just that perfect. I have also gone to my share of weddings, and I wasn't fond of certain traditions, and once I spoke to Carol about them, she gave me excellent alternatives, that made our night even more special. Since we had our ceremony and cocktail our at the same place back to back, Carol suggested that my husband and I should take our pictures beforehand, so that we could mingle and enjoy every single minute of our wedding. BEST ADVICE EVER! Having my husband see me for the first time as a bride alone, made it even more special, for we shared a beautiful moment in private, and the pictures came out just lovely because we weren't rushing! Her set up is also perfect, she's discreet and elegant, she knows that the night is about the bride and groom, so unlike many DJs that I have seen, she's not trying to get attention for herself by announcing something every 5 minutes or so. Just spectacular!! We also had a buffet at the wedding, and Carol quietly went from table to table to announce that the dinner was served instead of making an announcement over the microphone. Our guests are still talking about our wedding and how much fun they had! For my father-daughter dance, my father chose a song that his grandparents used to dance to [mind you my dad is 70!!] I thought is was a long shot, and yet somehow Carol got the song, a waltz from the late 30s, that made our photographer cry! She's superb, simple fantastic, classy,and wonderful! The very best!!!!!

Carol from A Starry Night did an excellent job at our wedding! It was a fusion wedding (American & Indian) and she did a fantastic job weaving through our list of must-have songs, giving equal attention to both American and Indian music through...
out the night – her expert skills made everything seamless. Our guest favorites were the mixed songs of the evening – a bhangra Thriller was priceless!!! Any song we requested, Carol had or easily obtained, no request was ever too esoteric! While she did a great job playing most of our “must-have” songs, there were a few missed ones, but this likely happens no matter who your DJ is, so make sure any song that you truly MUST have, you indicate as such.
Carol also did an excellent job MCing the wedding, especially when my brother gave her a last minute CD containing mixed songs to which he wanted to perform! Nothing fazed her and she was so pleasant the entire evening. Her style is very under-stated and elegant, but still full of energy (rare in your run-of-the-mill Djs) which is exactly what we wanted. She always made sure the focus was on us throughout the night, not like many other DJs/MCs who like to hear themselves speak the whole night and are in your guests’ face, often forcing them to dance.
Also, Carol has access to other instrumentalists. Carol arranged a harpist for our ceremony and cocktail hour. And not just any harpist, one that had played among the musicians at Chelsea Clinton’s wedding. Claudia played some lovely music on the harp for us. It was such a small addition, but added so much charm and romanticism to our ceremony.
Our only criticism is that she ended our party a little abruptly. We knew it was going to end because we had chosen the last song, but our guests did not. Carol did not make an announcement saying this was going to be the last dance or anything. It came on, we danced, then the music stopped and she congratulated us and said the night had come to an end. It was an upbeat song too so our guests were definitely surprised. My husband went up to Carol to request some slow music as guests were leaving to make things flow a little better, which Carol immediately started, no problem. The ending of the night was a little bit of a disappointment, but overall, Carol was everything we had hoped she would be. Her unparalleled collection of music, laid back attitude and ability to go with the flow make her an excellent DJ/MC – she kept our dance floor packed and excited the entire night!!!

She avoided most Typical Wedding Music(tm) on our request, but she was happy to play a couple of "cheesy" songs that we liked, like "Love Shack" and "Time Warp." My parents were upset that she didn't play a couple of songs they asked me to tell her to play, but other than that, she was a hit with us and our guests.
