one thing I hate about black businesses is that they start off very strong, then they forget where they come from and give poor customer service. I'm one whom support my own bc I want to see self representation, and i want us to win. I am a new 2026 bride and I thought I did my research by looking at reviews and even watching social media. I fell in love with the work that Essence has done. I picked her without a question or second thought bc we vibed and she seem to understand my vision. However, even though my wedding is a ways out, I was glad she wanted to meet once a month, but some of those meetings were missed and forgotten. she even sent someone else to the venue walkthrough that i got off work early for, sending a last minute "hey love" text with a selfie of her and the person she was sending. when asked about it, she informed me that atouchofessence_events is a business and not just her. Even though I only see her face on everything. i know you have to have help but theres no excuse to let a stranger i never met meet me in front of the venue owners may I add, when you said you would be there. Apologies were given. However, I have worked at a call center and I am aware of de escalaion vs. being truly sincere. I still tried to make it work bc if you look at the contract, it only protects the planner. Hopefully, this grows her business to communicate and perform better.
