Our personalities were able to shine through in all of the shots without looking staged/cheesy, which was my main fear. Morning of, we arrived at location only to find out our park location was closed (contrary to what the website stated), but Aanna helped us make the best of another nearby location, and I’m not even sure I miss our original idea. She didn’t miss a beat in planning an alternative, which is an incredible help on a day already involving so many decisions. Aanna was even able to accommodate our strange schedule - my husband and I had our photos done at 7am downtown Chicago, then Aanna came to our outdoor ceremony location again at 4pm for the rest. She was such a pro at capturing the ceremony and managed to stay completely “invisible.” Frankly, I looked back on the photos and it’s a wonder I never noticed her! . We felt like we were having coffee with a long time friend. As I prepared for our meeting, I decided to bring the scrapbook that I created for my now husband for our 2 year anniversary, in the event she may want to see some of the pictures. To my surprise, she wanted to see every page. She told us a bit about her professional experience with some well-known Chicago photographers and learned that she had recently started her own business. She asked us what we had envisioned in terms of pictures and offered helpful advice and suggestions. After that meeting, we knew that she was the right person to photograph us for our engagement and wedding. It just felt right. We met in September of 2017 for our engagement shoot, and both Eric and I were pretty nervous. We are not used to being photographed, I am usually the one behind the camera. As such, I highly value the art of photography. Aanna made us feel so comfortable and provided guidance for poses, enabling us to find our natural flow together, creating authenticity in our pictures. It was important that our pictures reflected our personalities and our relationship with each other. In preparation for the wedding, Aanna requested we complete a picture shot list. If I were to change one thing, I would have spent more time on this, so she had the best guidance as possible, and we could have avoided a few confusions on the wedding day when taking family formals. My now brother-in-law (who recently had their wedding and experience with a professional photographer) complimented how Aanna was able to meet everyone’s requests, while staying true to our vision and the time frames established. He felt she had the perfect combination of assertiveness and kindness, and we would have to agree. It’s a tough job to keep everyone on task, and focused, while trying to find the right lighting, the best backdrop, etc…and Aanna is a pro! Following the wedding, we waited with great anticipation for the day our pictures would be ready. About 3 days after the wedding Aanna sent posted a picture from the wedding that was nothing short of a Hollywood moment. This was just a glimpse into the beauty and artistry that followed in the next couple months. Aanna, like most photographers now of days, works with digital files​ and delivers photos via a personal website. Of course, the quality of the pictures from our wedding was so important, and we are thrilled with the results, however, it’s the person behind the camera who captured our love story with such artistry and expertise, who helped make our wedding a dream come true. We are forever grateful to her.
