About this vendor
Abigail Dakota Photo is a wedding photographer based in Lynchburg, VA who serves couples nationwide and beyond. My name is Abby, and I am so excited to get to know you! Weddings are the sweetest days, and it's truly a privilege to be able to walk hand-in-hand with you through them.
I was sitting in my parent's kitchen looking through the photos from their wedding, and I was struck by the timelessness and intentionality in those few film shots. And that’s exactly how I want you to feel when you look back on your wedding day gallery. Hence why I offer film and super8. The photos that are often treasured are the ones that capture authentic emotion, and that is what I pursue. Through fluid prompts, genuine laughter, and movement, you'll see your story come alive through photos.
I want you to feel supported from your first email to the final gallery delivery.
I value clear communication and want couples to feel comfortable and familiar with my booking and shooting process. I do this in part by clearly communicating the next steps in my first call and using a site that has everything in one portal (contract, invoicing, questionnaire, etc.).
I always tell my couples that this is the first (and most likely only) time that they will plan a wedding, but I have walked through the intricacies of the wedding world/day many, many times, so let me be a resource! As one of your vendors, I want to link hands with you as you plan and execute your dream wedding.

single detail. She is incredibly creative and talented, and words can’t describe how perfectly she captured every emotion, meaningful moment, and little detail that made our day so special.
Abigail is also so kind and made the entire experience feel so comfortable and natural. She gave such clear direction that both my husband and I felt comfortable in front of the camera. I genuinely cannot say enough amazing things about her. If you’re looking for someone who is not only unbelievably talented but also wonderful to spend time with on your wedding day - don't hesitate to book Abigail!!

was going to capture all of the special little moments of our day. The best part about working with Abby is how easy she is to talk to, and how comfortable I felt around her. Each of our photos she captured, shows a unique and special moment from our day that I can’t wait to share with our future kids. Thank you Abby!!
From the first meeting with Abby, only a month after my now husband and I had gotten engaged, I felt at ease and comfortable sharing our story and this documentation journey with h...
er. She was eager to make our wishes come true to the best of her ability and was always transparent with what she had to offer. Abby took both our engagement and wedding photos for us in 2024. It is truly hard for me to pick which shoot was my favorite (which is saying a lot considering you'd assume it would naturally be your wedding). But that is just how wonderful all of our photos turned out. She was able to capture genuine sweet moments between us and others, which I felt came across as very authentic and raw in photo - it is captivating and beautiful to look back on! Going into choosing a photographer, I wanted someone who would capture the day as it truly happened - less staging and posing, more documenting the true events and emotions of the day. Abby did such an amazing job of doing this and giving us a documentary- meets romantic-styled album, while never losing touch of the human emotion in each photo. I could not be happier with my experience!

meless all of the photos she captures are. She documented all of the laughs and hugs and tears from our special day, and we will cherish each and every photo for a lifetime. We loved our experience with her, and would recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer who will capture your relationship in the most beautiful and natural way!
Abby is the BEST!!! She makes you feel so comfortable while taking pictures. Everything was well thought out and thoughtful. These are photos are going to be family heirlooms.
We were in a situation no couple wants to be in three months out from their wedding- we needed a new photographer. It turned out to be the biggest blessing because we found Abigail...
! I was in communication with several well known photographers in the area who highly recommended her. She not only assured us everything would be okay, she followed through! Her editing style is everything I wanted for our wedding gallery. She has a very true to tone editing style that doesn’t change your photos but enhances them so beautifully! I requested photos of my grandparents throughout the day and she has now given me some of my favorite pictures in the world! She’s incredible behind the lens but she has so much more to bring to your day besides a camera. She is so so accommodating to any of your requests and the crazy chaos that a wedding day can bring. I was so nervous having not met her that I’d feel awkward in front of the camera and it was so far from that experience. She’s also great at just blending in with the scene. We honestly did not realize we were being photographed throughout most of the day and to me that’s what makes a great photographer! You get the best photos when you don’t realize your picture is being taken. Abigail sent us sneak peeks within a couple of days and she sent us the gallery so quickly. I see a lot of couples waiting 12+ weeks for photos and we had our gallery back in 6. I truly cannot recommend Abigail enough! We will be using her for all of our photography needs in the future. Thanks Abigail!
