We had our wedding at the Queens Museum and absolutely loved it. It is a spectacular venue—everyone was commenting about how amazing it was all night—and we highly recommend it. It also still kind of feels like an ‘undiscovered’ venue (unlike Liberty Warehouse, etc), so we felt lucky enough to get married somewhere that wasn’t overdone and our friends hadn’t heard of before.
What also made the Queens Museum so special was the fact that Abagail Kirsch is the exclusive catering company there. The AK team consists of absolute PROS - they made it a very seamless process for us, and were more than patient with all of our questions. And—to top it all off—the food was incredible. So many guests told us it was the best wedding meal they have ever had. The entire team was so gracious and we really just couldn’t have been happier.
Madison was our primary POC at Abagail Kirsch and we loved working with her. She sat through so many calls and meetings with us, and answered all of questions—including ones that had nothing to do with catering. The fact that our night ran so seamlessly was all because of her. I will note is that AK has an event every weekend, so responses become quicker as you get closer to the event, as the questions you’re asking become more urgent.
Lastly - you are getting married in a museum. Museums can change art whenever they want, and you have to be ready for that. We had an installation that went up a few weeks before our wedding that changed the aesthetic of the interior of the museum. Abagail Kirsch very much partnered with us to make it as presentable as possible, but there were artistic elements we weren’t expecting that we had to accept.
My husband and I fell in love with the Queens Museum the second we walked in. It offers such a unique reception space with breath taking views of the Unisphere. As two people who grew up in Flushing playing in the park we knew we had to have our wedding here.
The Venue
Spacious, beautiful artwork, stunning views, and the highlight The Panorama Exhibit which is how you are escorted from the cocktail hour to the reception space. The Panorama is a scale model of NYC created for the 1964 worlds fair. It was definitely one of our “wow” factors.
The Food
So many of my guest told me it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. From cocktail hour to dinner to dessert I was blown away by the attention to detail and flavor of each dish. I’m still dreaming about the baby lamb chops from cocktail hour. From the presentation to taste there was not one thing that disappointed.
The People
Jenn and Rachel were our go to event coordinators for the evening. When I say they went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect wedding is almost understatement. Through out the entire process they covered every detail with a fine tooth comb and the evening went off with out a hitch. Jen herself was onsite for the entire party and checked in on us regularly to make sure we were okay and our guest were happy. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, bartenders and servers were very important to me and you can tell they were top of the line. Always smiling and looking to assist in any way possible. Andy our bridal attendant was like a ninja, always a few steps behind if we needed anything but never in our way or overwhelming.
Overall a beyond wonderful experience. If I could give the Queens Museum 100 stars I would. Abigail Kirsch’s stood up to their reputation of being the best of the best.
