any availability. Our venue had to cancel on us at the last minute due to the fire in the Gorge. We were frantic — calling everyone in our vicinity to find a suitable backup location that still wouldn't compromise our guest's travel plans. After getting off the phone with Bob at Abiqua, I was back to feeling hopeful. We toured the grounds the following day and booked the date on the spot. Bob was invaluable throughout the entire process from that point on: asking how we wanted things to look, what he could do to get everything ready for us, etc. He even put us in touch with the woman who ended up being our harpist (who I highly recommend — Karen Almquist is her name, she's located in Silverton). The venue itself is like something out of a fairytale — which was exactly what we wanted. Our theme was a mix of vintage/Lord of the Rings/midsummer night's dream. There's a covered area for the catering crew, a permanent deck that acts as a gorgeous outdoor dance floor, a large island that juts out over a gorgeous, still pond featuring a gazebo, a house to get ready in for the bridal party, along with a tack room for the guys, horses to fawn over, hidden paths to explore, multiple ceremony sites and a huge parking lot. Bob also provides tables, chairs, string lighting, trash cans, portable restrooms, shepherd's hooks and other miscellaneous items that he has on hand. I can't recommend this place enough: if you're looking for a place that encapsulates the ethereal, enchanted nature of Oregon, this is your place. Yes, it's an hour drive from Portland — but that means it's not as cliche as the sites closer to the city that EVERYONE gets married at. Abiqua Country Estate is for couples looking for an unbeatable outdoor setting with owners/staff who go above and beyond. Can't wait to return and have a picnic on the grounds for our anniversary :)
