We loved Gary Rich and The Blue Daddy’s at our September 2024 wedding! We used Gary for our ceremony (pianist), cocktail hour, and reception music (5 piece band), in addition to their audio equipment and DJ/MC services for our reception and we were super happy with how everything turned out! We were able to see them play live at my friend's wedding the year before, and they sounded just as amazing on the wedding day! The Blue Daddy's brought such great energy to our wedding and our guests continue to rave about how fun it was to have live music! The Blue Daddy’s Band did a fantastic job providing the music for our son's wedding at the Marriott in San Diego, Ca on 9/7/24! Gary was great to work with and helped us from start to finish with the planning. We decided to go with a jazz trio for the cocktail hour and a seven-piece band for the reception. The jazz trio really set the mood for the cocktail hour and the seven-piece party band got everyone out on the dance floor at the reception and they also included a DJ/MC. Gary also even arranged for the string duo that provided music for the ceremony. The three different types of live music made the whole wedding a very special experience for everyone! The Blue Daddy’s and Gary Rich also provided the music for our other son's wedding so that says something when you hire a band for a second time. Both times The About Music Pro came through for us in providing an exceptional music experience!

My new husband and I could not have imagined a better band for our wedding. “The Blue Daddy’s” were awesome! Not only did we love the band, but our guests loved them as well and complimented us on our choice of band and were strongly impressed with their talent and how beautiful they sounded. We absolutely loved this band for our wedding reception! They got everybody dancing. Gary also provided a soloist for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We had forgotten about dinner music, and they played jazz standards and then Gary played recorded music for us on the band breaks without us even having to ask. We hired About Music Pro for our wedding 4/1/23 and were thrilled with how professional they were! During the ceremony, Gary played live acoustic guitar and added violin and cello player for a classy sound, going so far as to learn a few special songs ahead of the wedding to make the ceremony exceptionally special. At cocktail hour, Gary and his trio kept the vibe bright and happy with some great live tunes. The outdoor space we were in was beautiful, and the sounds elevated the moment to peak heights. During dinner, the background music was classy, and Gary was very attentive at enabling toasts and speeches with mics and sound coordination. Oh yeah - he brought all the AV and sound equipment gear needed to fill a massive outdoor space with the voices during the ceremony. Did I mention he is awesome! Now onto the fun part - the dance party! Wow, Gary as DJ/MC was so spot on, and had the good people on the floor from first dance to last call. Feedback from our guests was it was one of the most fun weddings they have ever been to. I would highly recommend Gary to play - and enable - all the musical needs of your event.

Our wedding planner referred us to About Music pro because she said they were the best wedding band / DJ she has worked with (in ten years doing weddings). About Music Pro lived up to recommendation and absolutely crushed the sound and music at our wedding. The sound was crisp and clear during our ceremony and toasts, and Gary band leader/MC and musician kept the party going all night. We received so many compliments on behalf of our music selection. Wow! Gary and his fellow musicians were all unbelievably amazing. We hired About Music Pro and The Blue Daddy’s 5-piece band and had Gary play acoustic guitar during our wedding ceremony, and he played piano for the cocktail hour, and we also had a live drummer and DJ set during the reception. Live music and the good vibes it brought were very important to us, and the band exceeded expectations for our guests and us. Gary worked with us extensively prior to the wedding to learn new songs on guitar and offer suggestions for our playlist. He quickly picked up on the style we wanted and brought it to the next level. We found Gary through a friend's wedding. We went too and decided we just had to have him at ours, and we are so glad that we did! He did such an amazing job and not only did he DJ but he played Ukulele at the ceremony and guitar for the cocktail and piano for dinner. As our DJ/MC he had no problem getting people on the dance floor by playing such great music all night long! We had our wedding at the Hyatt regency in downtown San Diego. It was incredible how seamlessly he went from wedding to cocktails to dinner and reception. From the very beginning their professionalism and staff, About Music Pro knocked it out of the park. We had a sting trio for the ceremony, a jazz guitarist for cocktails, and a 5 piece band with a DJ/MC for the reception. Gary and his team worked well with our other vendors, which helped make our wedding very successful. The communication before the wedding was fantastic. We were able to pick any songs that we wanted as well. As I questioned some things of how to keep the wedding guests entertained, Gary knew how to sweep them off their feet! Gary Rich is an amazing listener and will find the exact right music for you and your guests. My fiance and I love music. We also had a really diverse group of guests, friends from India, Latin America, England and other places around the world. Gary just nailed it. He started with American pop and rock from the 70's and 80's and evolved to currant top 40 hits and rap, that pleased everyone and had them all dancing. Over time, he mixed it up, introducing picks for different subgroups of guests. He even researched India pop hits, salsa and Latin pop for me -- not something that's on his normal list of genres -- and he got it exactly right! He also worked with our parents to add a slideshow of childhood photos for each of our parent-child dances. You can tell Gary takes deep pleasure in pleasing his clients! When we began planning our wedding, one of the key things we wanted to do was make our guests feel hosted and honored. Gary Rich from About Music Pro did exactly that! We had 250 guests from all over the US and the world and Gary carved out a piece of the party for all of them, somehow weaving it all together. How can I possibly capture how fantastic About Music Pro’s Musicians and DJs are? We hired Gary Rich as the bandleader and DJ/MC for our 250 person wedding during December 2019. The entire booking, planning and even experience were truly top notch and worth every penny and more! Having good music with everyone on the dance floor was one of our "must haves" and Gary and his band delivered! We were so relieved and grateful to have found Gary and his band for our wedding. The Blue Daddy’s made our dreams come true! From the very beginning, Gary Rich was the band leader/MC and DJ and he was very easy to work with and super accommodating! I had several songs I requested they preformed them flawlessly. Gary also provided AV for a photo-montage and he made it all happen without a hitch. Gary and his band did an INCREDIBLE job at our wedding! My husband and I had planned to get on the dance floor a little bit to get everyone else to come out, and we kept telling ourselves "We’ll get a drink after the next song" but couldn't leave the dance floor because they had the best dance music! We met with Gary at the beginning of the planning process for our fall wedding and then again a few weeks before the big day. He listened to all our requests, made some great recommendations, and helped facilitate a perfectly smooth reception and amazing dance party! We got a sense right away at our first meeting that Gary knew his stuff when it comes to music and we were right to trust him. OVERALL: No-frills musician/DJ/MC. We booked him for live ukulele for the ceremony, DJ/MC for the reception, and all sound/audio/video throughout the event. Exactly what we needed for a family-friendly lunch time wedding. Responsive, professional, accommodating, and easy to work with. He is also the owner of his company, so he is in control of his schedule. Highly recommend him! PLANNING PHASE: We were recommended to Gary through a friend who had worked with him for their wedding the year before. Four months before the wedding day, our original plan for live music did not go through, so I felt pressed for time to find a musician/DJ. I gave him a call, explained my situation, and he calmly walked me through all of my options, tailoring as needed based on my budget. He also mentioned that he would be able to do all sound and AV, which was perfect because we were planning for a photo slideshow. His pricing packages are very straightforward, and by the end of the call, I knew exactly what he would be able to provide. We booked him within the day for live ukulele for the ceremony, DJ/MC for the reception, and all sound/audio/video throughout the event. As a follow up, he sent us a sheet to fill out for any specific songs that we wanted, which was very helpful for our planning (e.g. processional song, recessional song, first dance song, father daughter dance song, BGM genre, etc). ON OUR WEDDING DAY, Ceremony: Gary had set himself up toward the back of our ceremony. His ukulele blended in so nicely with our set up and the scene, that it felt like it was meant to be there. I say this because some musicians like to hog attention, but Gary made sure to provide the perfect amount of music for enjoyment and BGM, without standing out. This meant a lot! ON OUR WEDDING DAY, Reception: Gary deeply understands the flow of a wedding, so we were listening for his voice as a queue for guidance around when to switch gears for the next activity. As you would for any MC, if you have any particular requests around particularly wording, I would let him know beforehand. For example, for the bouquet toss, we wanted him to ask for “unmarried” ladies, rather than “single“ ladies, to come to the dance floor, so we asked him to do that. Also, we didn’t have a dance hour, but I had asked him beforehand to tailor the music to be more upbeat in case people start gathering toward the dance floor, and he did that flawlessly. We hope to have the opportunity to work with Gary again in the future!

We knew we wanted an amazing band for our wedding. When my wife and I decided on Gary Rich and his band we made one of the best decisions of our wedding. We decided to work with Gary Rich at About Music Pro after we researched many bands. We definitely made the right choice with Gary and his band! The quality of the musicians, singers, the mix of songs and their energy was second to none. Gary was extremely professional and he went through all of the details of our wedding. They also accommodated our "must play" song list between the band and DJ sets. We have received countless compliments about The Blue Daddy’s from our guests and it was by far the BEST decision we made for our wedding.

If you're looking for a great DJ, band or musicians for any event, I ten out of ten recommend About Music Pro. We hired them for our wedding. Gary was great! We worked with him throughout the entire engagement and planning process and he was super accommodating. He always answered our questions right away and brought up things we would have never even thought of. We had a guitar and cello for the ceremony and cocktails and the band for the reception. About Music Pro was great to work with! Our wedding dance floor was always full, the songs were upbeat and exactly on theme with what we asked for. They did a great job of mixing R&B, top 40, swing, and classic rock dance hits exactly as we asked. DJ Gary Rich is awesome! He rocked our wedding and did an outstanding job as our DJ/MC. Gary is a true professional and made everything very easy and his overall service is stellar. My husband and I are both very picky when it comes to music. We both wanted Hip-Hop and Top 40 with some Classic Rock, so we asked Gary for a blend of all three, and he definitely delivered! He also did a great job on the grand entrance, and announcing all events during the wedding, such as the cake cutting, first dance, speeches, bouquet toss, and last dance. Gary Rich and his band did a fantastic job at our wedding. (August 2019). I was struggling to find a band that could entertain both my American/Japanese family, and my fiance's Italian family. Our wedding was a black tie event and the band kept with that theme and also dressed formally. I was torn, because I wanted to include some traditional Japanese music, which would be tough for a band to perform. After searching the web, I finally decided to reach out to Gary since his company, About Music Productions, offers both live and D/J ...a decision I am so glad I made! Gary stepped in as DJ at the wedding and obtained all the Japanese music we requested. He and band rocked the party! It's important for a bride to feel at ease, and be able to trust the vendors. He and the band were totally able to read the crowd and know what song to play next. They played exactly what we wanted to hear! They even learned the song for my first dance! People kept coming up to me raving about the DJ and the band and still a month later people keep talking about how much fun it was! Thank you so much to Gary and the band for making my wedding night one I will never forget!!

I cannot even express how amazing About Music Pro is! Gary was a incredible musician and DJ/MC, and really knows how to read a crowd and entertain. My guests danced the entire night, and everyone raved about how great they were. The whole day from ceremony music through the reception flowed so smoothly with Gary, and he did everything he could to make the night perfect. I would hire them over and over again. I was so happy with the music performed by About Music Productions at my wedding and reception! We had guitar and violin for the ceremony and cocktail and a 5-piece band and DJ/MC for the reception. We were so happy with Gary Rich and the Blue Daddy's at our wedding! I had only heard their audio online before the big day, and good faith paid off, and they were great performers! They played a variety of songs, Gary was a great MC's for the whole evening, and paid attention to the emotion of the crowd to dictate the flow of the music, steadily building intensity throughout the night. The band and DJ were also very reliable and courteous, making it a pleasure to interact with them before and after the event. But bottom line, boy do they know how to make your party a good time! If it was possible, I would give The Blue Daddy’s Band and their DJ 10 stars, and I'm not kidding! They played at our wedding reception this past April and we could not have been happier with their music. We had a wedding song that isn't frequently played and Gary was more than willing to accommodate us and play our special song. From start to finish, planning was super easy! Gary was extremely helpful in suggesting special dances for the family. The mother/son pick turned out to be one of mom's favorite songs!! The band played an amazing variety of music that suited every last guest, and us. People we never expected to see dancing, stayed on the dance floor all night! The DJ kept the party going on the band breaks, which was a great addition to the live band. They both were off the charts!!! Gary and the Blue Daddy’s Band absolutely made our wedding day! From the beginning Gary was helpful and responsive to every question we had. They learned to play "All of Me" for our first dance and every moment during the reception was amazing. Gary switched to DJ when the band was on break and kept the party going. They were all extremely professional, they sounded amazing, and we have heard nothing but rave reviews from our guests. My father-in-law went to Berklee in Boston and still can't stop talking about what a great band they were, which makes sense because Gary went to Berklee. There are other bands in the San Diego area that will charge you twice as much and deliver half the product. These guys are the absolutely the best!

Based on the great reviews for Gary Rich, we expected an awesome wedding band and DJ, but what we got was beyond what we could imagine. We had 450 guests at our wedding and once the band started, nobody sat down again, even the grandparents! The play list was amazing - hit after hit of timeless awesome songs. And when the band took a break Gary continued on as DJ with the same feel. Our guests can't stop raving about Gary Rich and the Blue Daddy’s, a month later. Oh, and there were literally rows of people at the front of the dance floor just watching and dancing to The Blue Daddy’s like we were at a concert for some of the songs - they were so impressive! They learned a few new songs for us too and killed it! They even did a Pop Jazz Style recessional for us from the ceremony to the cocktail party, which was amazing. Also, communication before the wedding was exceptional - Gary was incredibly responsive, flexible, and clear. Gary and his team was the best vendor we worked with. I cannot recommend Gary and his group enough!!

Gary Rich was an incredible DJ/MC and bandleader. We first saw him at a friend's wedding and were absolutely blown away. So when the time came to book music for our wedding, he was at the top of the list. The whole process was a joy: Gary made reserving a date (a year out) easy and worked with us to choose the right arrangement of musicians and instruments. We ended up with a 6-piece band And DJ that was perfect for the space and size of our wedding. The lead-up was also easy and very well executed; we got to choose songs, make requests about when, how, breaks, etc.; Gary also kindly worked with our venue and coordinator to get things just right. And finally, the performance was JUST AS INCREDIBLE AS EXPECTED. People danced. People laughed. We All had a great time and the song selections were awesome. It was an incredible day, made even more special with Gary and his team.

I was blown away by the Blue Daddy’s when they performed at our wedding. We had the 7-piece group and Gary also played guitar at the ceremony, and with his jazz trio for the cocktail hour. The sound they provided was top notch and the energy was incredibly high. About Music Pro was awesome! Many of our guests commented on how much they loved the DJ and band we chose. My boss literally said, "This has to be the top wedding band I've ever heard!". They got everyone dancing, totally jammed out, and played the whole night through! We had a solo guitarist for the ceremony, duo for cocktails and a DJ with a 5 piece band for the reception. Honestly, if you want your guests to love the music, pick these guys - they sounded amazing!

Gary took care of our ceremony and reception and he really did an outstanding job. We spoke to him on the phone initially and he had us suggest some songs we definitely wanted to hear to kind of give him an understanding of our music tastes. We had him playing guitar during the ceremony and it was a really nice touch. For the reception he did a great job of playing what we had requested, as well as staying true to the kind of musical theme we had going on. He was great for keeping us on our time targets, making time for the toasts, hora, first dances and all that. He was super easy to work with and really made it so that our guests and ourselves had a great time dancing the day away. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ for their wedding or probably any other event.

Gary did an amazing job at our recent wedding! In all the conversations leading up to the event, Gary was quick with answering questions we had and making sure he asked the right questions to be sure we would have exactly what we wanted. We provided a list of what music we selected for each event and Gary took it from there. We had Gary Rich as our musician, bandleader and DJ for our wedding and reception at the Hyatt San Diego. He, and his band, were fantastic! We could tell from our first meeting that he's a total professional, and knows how to create the type of party you're looking for by asking some great questions and filling in the rest with his expertise. Another thing we loved about him is that he doesn't do that heavy-handed self-promotion thing. He was great at announcing, providing music that kept our evening on track, and got everyone on the dance floor! Our song list was kind of all over the place, but he turned it into a great play list for the night! He was always on top of the crowd's mood and adjusted to keep the energy up. hired The Gary Rich Band, at the last minute, for our wedding and reception at the San Diego Hilton and they did a fabulous job! I called Gary after we received a cancellation two weeks before our wedding and they saved the day! They were incredibly professional and easy to work with, as well as reasonably priced. I wish I had hired them from the start! Gary, also the MC, and the band listened to requests and kept the audience entertained the entire night. The song choices included classics that everyone could sing and dance to. I would not hesitate to book Gary and his band for any other event I may find myself planning. As I am writing this review, I am reliving the event with smiles from ear to ear! Again, they not only saved the day, but exceeded our expectations!

Gary and his band were fantastic! They played at our San Diego wedding and reception, and several of our guests came up to us during and after the wedding and raved about them. To start with they played guitar and sax for our ceremony. They then played piano, with vocal, at our cocktail hour, and the six-piece band for our reception, plus an acoustic unplugged set towards the end of dinner - not something we'd initially thought we'd want them to do - and it was totally the right call. The Blue Daddy’s were AMAZING at our wedding! I first heard them at a friends wedding last year and absolutely fell in love with their sound!
