Above and Beyond Cakes

s OUR day and Meghan executed my vision of a Harry Potter cake very well! If I could share a photo on here, I would. Not only was the cake amazing, my guests truly enjoyed my song addition of "Hedwig's Theme." Thank you so much Meghan for bringing our vision to life. Thank you for gifting my husband his groom's cake as well as my parents' cake as well. The customer service and service package of cake and desserts were truly worth it.

If we ever have another event, whether it be for a birthday, renewal of the vows or anything of the sort we know who to call. We were actually referred to them by our DJ. DJ Elizabeth. I loved that they were family owned and a local business. Unfortunately, we didn’t take many photos but the cookies and cream cake was destroyed lol we ate it all. They did a fanatic job with the white chocolate shells on our ocean themed cake. We had so many leftovers and didn’t get to taste the champagne cake but everyone told me it was phenomenal. Thank you for all your hard work on our special day!!

e to accommodate our timing request for the tasting (coming from SF we were trying to book several vendor meetings in one day), but were also super responsive throughout the entire planning process. The cake was gorgeous and tasted amazing, and we are still getting compliments on it a year later! My husband and I fell in love with the flavors from the second we tried the first cake.We had hard time deciding on our flavors AND had a million different design ideas for the cake itself. Meghan was amazing at corralling our ideas into a cohesive design AND reminded us that we could have different flavors for each tier and have two fillings in each tier. We ended up with a 3 tier cake, and each tier had different flavor combinations. Meghan was even able to color match the teal on the cake to the bridesmaids dresses! In addition, they offer a grooms cake the day of the wedding and provided us with a complimentary small cake for our one year anniversary. We loved the oreo and cheesecake mousses so much that we used them for both cakes, and had them in two of our wedding cake tiers (one tier with a white chocolate mousse and the other with the kahlua mousse). Both my husband and I agree that we wish that they were close to us, because we would be ordering desserts from them constantly!

bove & Beyond Cakes! The amount of flavor choices and combinations available allows you to pick EXACTLY what you are looking for. We chose to have a 3-tiered cake along with cupcakes and we were able to include 4 different flavors/combos. All of the flavors we tried were so yummy, we couldn’t pick just one! And let me tell you, the banana cake with peanut butter buttercream frosting is TO DIE FOR. Daniel is extremely responsive throughout the planning process, and allowed us to make changes to our cake flavors and design even within a couple weeks of our wedding date. And Meghan and Courtney are some of the most talented cake designers and creators I have ever seen - please refer to their instagram page to see examples! Needless to say, we couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose Above & Beyond Cakes for our wedding cake and cupcakes! We cannot wait to order from them again in the future!

sher policy. When we first signed our contract with them, we were unaware that our Synagogue actually had much more strict kosher policies that needed to be followed. Rather than telling us they couldn't do it, Daniel and Meghan spoke with the Rabbi, and toured the Synagogue's on site kosher kitchen to see if they could make their cake there. When they realized they could not make the cake at the Synagogue, they still didn't drop us! They took a call from the Rabbi from Israel, and after speaking with him it was decided that they could still make our wedding cake. Then they let the Rabbi tour their kitchen a week before the wedding so he could make final approval that the facility was kosher. Did they have to do any of this? No. They could have dropped us as a client and moved along. We are so grateful we had them in the end though, and the cake was spectacular. Thank you so much to Daniel and Meghan, you two lived up to your shop's name.

y niece and nephew. Every tasting was AH-MAZ-ING. We ended up going with pink champagne and carrot cake. They also offer a free groom's cake so the groom can get a flavor that he likes if he isn't really into what the bride chose. We decided to keep the design simple, and they came up with the great idea to use the pattern of my wedding dress as the pattern on the cake. It was simple and beautiful (we added our own Sacramento Kings topper to the top--this was not part of their design...but I bet they would've done it if I had asked!!) I also love that we didn't need to freeze the top tier. They will make you a new top tier for your one year anniversary!! Nice, fresh, delicious cake.

to the cake itself. Also, I can't tell you how amazing the flavor of everything was. We had such a hard time choosing during our tasting! haha The banana cake with spiced rum custard is highly recommended by my husband and me. Shoot, even the basic chocolate and chocolate custard was so delicious as well. You really can't go wrong with these guys. We seriously can't wait to order from them again. Keep in mind you'll need to give at least two months advance notice of anything since they're so busy! :)

f our cake tasting. Daniel worked with us and he was so personable and listened to everything I had thought of for the cake and put it on to paper right there for us. A groom's cake was included and we had it shaped like a baseball for my husband. The cake flavors were incredible and though we didn't get to have it on our wedding day with all the craziness, we were told the cake was amazing. It looked beautiful, I will tell you that!

n who took down my information and shortly after sent me an email with all the information they needed to make my cake happen. A few days later, I scheduled a cake tasting and told them since Elk Grove, CA was about 2 hours away from me, I could only come on a Saturday and they made themselves available. Cake Tasting Appt: The shop is not all that fancy and neither was the set-up so it didn't give me that "ooo fun bride feeling" but at this point I had had those and they weren't working for me anyway. They had the cake and fillings ready for us. Daniel explained everything to us, made the groom and the MOH feel welcome and comfortable as well. After the tasting, he came back and talked logistics, answered all my questions, and we completed the order. The Result: We had some really yummy cake! Champagne cake with fresh strawberries and whip and Strawberry Champagne cake with the same filling. The groom cake (coffee with Kahlua buttercream) and the MOH cupcake (toasted almond) were also delicious! Design: So that part was ok and why I didn't give the full 5 stars. The outside, fully covered, buttercream bottom was smooth but the top, naked part, was not tall enough so when we had the fresh flower crown it was almost non-existent. I think this could easily be solved with communication. BUT OVERALL, I had a wonderful experience and can't wait to have my 1 year anniversary cake!

mate, and for a tasting (free). He had given us a choice of 3 cake and 3 filling flavors to sample. We discussed the vision I had for the cake. He also showed us pictures of previous cakes they had designed to give me further guidance and to show what Meghan can do. We ultimately chose them and I'm glad we did. All my correspondence with them was professional and timely. The price was reasonable. The cake was GORGEOUS! I got so many positive comments from my guests. It was a 3 tiered cake. The middle tier mimicked the beading and embroidery of my dress (I had sent him a photo of my dress). It was just how I imagined it. We had chosen 2 cake flavors and 2 fillings - coffee Kahlua cake with caramel buttercream and pink champagne cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream filing. The latter was heaven although the Kahlua one was delicious also. They also included a free small groom's cake which was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling (my husband's choice). That was so decadent and rich! I will also note that my mom chose them to make the cake for my bridal shower. That was awesome! My shower was a Star Wars bride theme. So the cake looked like a small wedding cake but with white chocolate Death Star, Millennium Falcon, X-Wing fighters and a TIE fighter. They had gotten special molds just so they can create these decorations for my cake. It really was beautiful and awesome, and I didn't want to cut into it. Overall, I could not have been more pleased with their service and cakes. I would definitely consider them for another event.
