Abstract Beauty Artists is a wedding hair and makeup business operating out of Denver, CO. Owner Jennifer Velez is a passionate makeup artist and hairstylist who has spent a decade honing her skills to bring dream looks to life. Offering an extensive range of services, she loves making every client’s natural beauty shine through for a feeling of comfort and confidence on once-in-a-lifetime occasions. Though based in the Rocky Mountain state, Jennifer first founded Abstract Beauty Artists in her native New Jersey. An avid hip-hop fan, she named it after The Abstract, the pseudonym of rapper Q-Tip from the popular group A Tribe Called Quest. After working for years at events throughout the East Coast, she decided to relocate to Denver, where she has immersed herself in nature and community. Jennifer believes that everybody should allow their true spirit to shine through and loves helping her clients to do so through her exceptional cosmetology skills. Abstract Beauty Artists is available to provide on-location beauty services to individual clients and groups throughout the Denver area and beyond. Whatever your wedding vision might look like, Jennifer is ready to help you make it a reality. hing and anyone from a crusty 2/10 (me that morning lol) to an 20/10 (me after she cleaned me up lol)! She's just that detailed oriented, thoughtful, and professional. I've had experiences in the past with other artists where, while I looked fine, the colors and tones on my face didn't match - Jennifer DELIVERED! She listened to my ideas, shared feedback, and was honestly like a big sister and friend by the end of my session - you really can't ask for better than that. I wish she could do my hair and make up more often lolol! I can't emphasize this enough -- She made me look and feel so beautiful. There's a clear reason why she's referred to by so many wedding/elopement photographers. I'm grateful she was available for my special day. It is so impressive that she can run a successful business, be an awesome mom, and handle all of us brides during the craziest wedding season yet!! Thank you Jennifer!

essence I was going for and created the look I wanted. We did a trial makeup session earlier in the week and I highly recommend it. It enabled us to see what worked and didn’t work. And let me tell you, the day-of make up was beautiful— and lasted for the entirety of the wedding and reception, under the tears of joy and the sweat from hours of dancing. After the reception I thought I was going to look in the mirror and see melted make up but it was just as good at 11pm as it was at noon!

tment around 9pm the evening before because of travel issues. This was inconvenient for me because of my very packed work schedule. It was also difficult to communicate with Jennifer to reschedule the trial date. Then, on the day of my wedding, Jennifer did not show up to do my hair and makeup. We had to scramble and have the additional two women (who were amazing!) step in to do my bridal look. I’m a pretty simple person, but neither of these ladies did my trial. They pulled it together incredibly, but Jennifer never texted me back when I reached out to ask if she would be coming nor did she follow up with an apology after the wedding day. Jennifer is very sweet and does good work, but I would not recommend her to other brides as this experience did not give me confidence in her reliability or communication.

r only availability- however weekends are busiest for us stylists so it was a squeeze in that didn't work out. I am not very good at keeping up at personal texts since they are easily lost and we were playing a bit of phone tag. I recommend my brides to stick to my email abstractbeautyco@gmail.com. Unfortunately on the day of the wedding I did get into an emergency while on the way to the wedding. You had let me know to keep in contact with your sister when I reached out which I did. The contract states that I would find a replacement if an emergency were to happen and thankfully it worked out. However, I do still apologize for not giving you the best experience. Jennifer Velez has been in the industry for 10 years. As a New Jersey native living less than an hour from NYC, The stay-busy mentality that NYC provides has its pros but the city was merely a season in Jennifer’s life. Looking for an opportunity to step out of her comfort zone, Jennifer moved to Denver, CO to start her own journey. Desires in life are ever changing, but passion is born within you. She’s ready to inspire authentic, badass women to discover their truest forms through her abstract approach to styling. Trends are fleeting, but confidence is always in style. Shall we get started?
