I attended a wedding at this venue recently, and I must say it fell short of expectations. The outdoor back area, where the ceremony was held, appeared pleasant, and the maintenanc...
e was satisfactory. However, the owner, Anita, was a terrible person to deal with. Despite not being the event coordinator, she bossed people around and treated the guests poorly by being impolite and nasty. She forced everyone to stay outside in the scorching heat, which was nearly 90 degrees, while they waited for the wedding to start. She remained rude throughout the reception, disrupting guests and shouting at them about a door being left open. Her behavior was so unbearable that the bride broke down in tears, and the groom and guests were extremely frustrated with her behavior. Her unprofessionalism was unacceptable, and I do not recommend this venue for any event, especially not a wedding.
For our wedding in October 2021 in Mount Joy, my husband and I wanted a local caterer and delicious BBQ. We got everything we could have asked for with Acorn Farms catering! For ou...
r tasting, which happened during a peak in COVID, they provided us with a box to take home, which contained enough food for a tasting plus a week’s worth of warm-ups; everything was delicious and they were so generous from the beginning. After looking at the all-inclusive off-site wedding package, we knew we found the right caterer. We got the pulled pork, sausage and peppers in red sauce, mac and cheese, and green beans with bacon as a buffet at our venue. Acorn Farms provided an abundance of food (that we got to enjoy for the entire week after the wedding as well) and took care of all our catering needs. They brought extras of everything to make sure we had enough, and truly made our wedding day incredible. We are so pleased with our decision to have Acorn Farms cater our wedding!
Excellent venue! Everyone was helpful and made the planning process simple and stress free. They also went above and beyond during the ceremony and reception. Excellent, affordable...
venue that is also budget friendly. Thank you for all you have done to make our day perfect!
We used Acorn Farms for catering our wedding reception (held at Harvest View barn, nearby). The food was delicious. We did the buffet stations and our guest gave rave reviews on th...
e food as well.
We had our ceremony and reception at Acorn Farms on July 26, 2014 and couldn't have been happier! We were really trying to do our wedding on a budget and they worked with us every...
step of the way. We were able to go scope out the venue several times to plan our decorations and we had a lot of freedom in decorating. They also allowed us to have the venue for the entire day on Friday so all of my set up was done before the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner. That really cut back on my stress level for the rehearsal and on the morning of the wedding. Our ceremony was at their outdoor location and our reception was in the big reception hall.
Lauren, their wedding coordinator, was simply incredible! She went above and beyond what was necessary. She acted as our wedding coordinator, telling the DJ when to start various songs for the ceremony, the guys when to walk out, each of my girls when to walk down the isle, etc. Once again this helped to make my day stress free! She was so reassuring and really had everything under control. Even more, we ran out of my favorite wine during the reception and she went out and bought another bottle of that kind for us! On top of that, she went out and bought my husband a piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing because it is his favorite & we weren't able to have it for our cake because of allergies for our guests. She just did so much to make sure our day was perfect.
Overall, this venue was beautiful, easy to work with, convenient for guests, and reasonable to boot. The price that I have listed was for 160 guests and included the location (tables, chairs, linens all included!), dinner, desserts, and water & iced tea. I will be posting pictures when I get them back from my photographer.
(This was NOT my wedding venue, nor my caterer) I cringe at the thought of giving Acorn Farms a single star as they definitely deserve less. When I interviewed regarding my weddin...
g I had a terrible experience. The lady was not friendly, forced her opinions on me, and had our quote all wrong. Needless to say, we did not go with their company. I cannot stress enough how bad this experience was.
Jill, the GM, was great to work with. She was great during the intitial meeting and really tried to get the feel for what I was trying to do with our reception. She kept in contact...
and in the weeks leading up was very invested in our reception and how it was going to go. Her experience and knowledge in the business really shined! Our wedding day flowed smoothly and she accomodated the kids in attendance. All the staff were great and handled some of the minor things we needed done without question. Everyone complimented us on the food and we realized the next day we chose the best venue. You won't be disappointed!
Talk to Jill. She was absolutely fabulous. She took care of center piece construction, decorations, and anything else I wanted (down to making sure that the vegetables weren't mu...
shy). The food was absolutely divine. We held the reception at a different location and had them cater. Everything was absolutely perfect. We paid below $6000 for the room, food, service, decorations, hors d'ovres, etc. I would absolutely recommend Jill and Acorn Farms to a future bride.
We planned our wedding on short notice and Jill was amazing! The food was excellent, they set up and tore everything down and we always had someone checking up on us making sure we...
were ok. The best part was when we were getting pictures taken and my husband was getting restless, the woman that was taking care of our every need brought us drinks! I would definitely recommend Acorn Farms to another bride!
We did not know to request a trial meal. BIG mistake. Lasagna was terrible flavor. Salmon was bad (dry & tasteless). Chicken was very tasty, but looked un-appetizing. Hor'der...
ves were very good, but they threw them into the garbage too early in the party. Basically all our quests we spoke to agreed. Acorn Farms rep. just said too bad, that is how we make it, goodbye.
The service they provided was great. SOmeone was always checking in making sure everything was okay, and that was very nice.
The food was also very good. I didn't eat much but ...
their seafood alfredo was Great, I would recommend this company to anyone.
Our reception was beautiful here. Jill and her team did everything for us. It made it so much easier for us knowing that so many of the details were going to be taken care of so we...
could just relax and enjoy our day.
