sic package for the day of which included input 1 month prior. Looking back, we should have had a different package with more time. Even worse was we never felt the special connection or treatment the other reviews claim they had. She was very polite, but we felt she didn't enjoy our wedding plans, ideas, or even us. Due to lack of planning and communication on both sides, many things did not go as my wife and I planned.
Before the wedding ceremony, we still needed help setting up and cleaning the venue. She had her assistant would ask if I needed help. There were some heavy items to lift/move and I was stressed and I politely said no and didn't want to inconvenience them. Looking back, I was paying for their help and should have had them help.
About 30 minutes before guests arrived, I realized our BevMo alcohol delivery never arrived. She never asked or followed up with me or them. I called BevMo myself for an update. I feel she should have done this for me.
I specifically asked her to offer the bride and bridesmaids with sandwiches and drinks we purchased for everyone before the wedding started. I wanted everyone to stay refreshed and not pass out. Shannon said no problem. However, the girls told me after the wedding they were never offered these items. They said Shannon came up and asked them "You guys want or need anything?" Although that was a helpful question, it was too vague. I gave her specific instructions on what to specifically offer them. All the girls said if Shannon had specifically been offered the sandwiches and drinks, they would have taken them, and would have felt better since they went without food or drink that day.
We also asked her to specifically put the fresh rose petals in the fridge the night before at rehearsal so they stay as fresh as possible. Shannon forgot to do this and the rose petals were left out overnight and were not as fresh or pretty.
My wife also surprised me by renting me the Back to the Future DeLorean car after the ceremony. We went outside to take a quick photo and drive it around the block. Shannon did not seem happy with this surprise and kept reminding us we had guests waiting and this was delaying the flow of the schedule. Although it was nice to have a reminder of the schedule, we felt like we were being scolded by our mother for bad behavior.
After the ceremony, my wife and I raced over to our reception hall one block away to get some private photos. I had left personal items back at the ceremony venue and asked her and her assistant if they could go grab it for me. They seemed a bit frustrated as if I had inconvenienced them. They claimed they were doing things and had to plan who could get it and when, but much of the day I saw them sitting and chatting. It was so awkward that our DJ offered to go get my items.
At the end of the night the reception hall packed up all our food, but those boxes and bags were nowhere to be found. I would have liked a followup email/text of where everything went.
She seemed too focused and stressed on the schedule not going as planned. She must put on a brave and friendly face. She must know how to adapt, & how to better communicate things w/ either the wedding couple, or designated representatives in their place.

hile and at first I came along another wedding planner which i will not name that were rude and very unprofessional and at first they had told me one prize that was reasonable then a couple of months later gave me a big story and changed the prize on us drastically. I then decided they weren't for us so, I kept searching and came onto affairs of the heart, I then contacted Shannon and she immediately called me right back, at which point my husband and I took a trip down to Cali to meet up with Shannon and like always she was really polite and gave us great ideas. Every step of the way Shannon was always there texting and calling me back as we're not from California and it was a little stressful having to do everything via phone but the end result was wonderful! Starting from our beach wedding to my yacht reception, our family and friends were so amazed with everything and it was all like how I pictured it. They were little things that happened here and there but Shannon knew what to say and what to do, as soon as we walked into the yacht and saw all the amazing flower arrangements and decorations Judy and Shannon had set up I was so excited it was exactly what we had envisioned. he was eager to take on the challenge, asked plenty of questions to fully understand the subtle uniqueness and differences of our wedding planning process and assisted in providing best practices and suggestions and filled in the gaps where we needed help. She was available for calls to go over details whenever we felt like we needed to, responded to emails or texts promptly and was very professional and glad to help answer questions or even take on responsibilities she said typically did not provide as a wedding coordinator. We were extremely impressed with her quality and dedication and our day went so smoothly. Even when something needed to be done she would have a plan and inform me of her course of action so that I did not have to worry about anything. She was a pleasure to have coordinate our big day and am really glad that we ended picking her. but having her for the whole month meant she could take care of some of the last-minute things that invariably cropped up and provide additional support (which I needed!), especially as I was organizing the wedding from abroad. For a wedding I was happy to do most of the legwork for, she helped me get over the line! Shannon is very knowledgeable, was very well organized, and offered really helpful suggestions, and developed a relationship with my vendors. As project managers ourselves, we THOUGHT we could handle planning our own wedding and didn't find it necessary to hire a wedding coordinator -- boy, were we wrong.
We are so thrilled we hired a wedding coordinator! As prepared as you may THINK you are, it's a major stress relief to have someone who can take on tasks, deal with the chaos that comes with the week-of and day-of your wedding. We have no regrets hiring Shannon and the team at Affairs of the Heart Events. We hired Shannon as a month-of coordinator and she did not disappoint, she truly puts your needs above anything else.
Shannon is experienced and has a deep knowledge of weddings/events and what ideas work/what doesn't. She can anticipate if an idea is too complicated or will be efficient on the big day. She sees things you may not even have thought of, something that may work on paper and in your head, can run very differently in real-life. Shannon has that expertise and insight to help guide couples to have the best possible outcome and have your wedding run smoothly. We definitely leaned heavily on her expertise when it was crunch time for our wedding. Shannon is smart and quick to find alternative solutions should something go wrong. If anything went wrong on our wedding day, we have no idea because I'm sure Shannon handled the situation, found a solution and didn't bother us with those issues. Having Shannon as a coordinator gave us a peace of mind and eased our stress. If we were ever stumped on something, such as picking table linens, she never pressured us with her opinions and always approached us with a variety of options that could work. She ultimately left the decision making to us.
Shannon and her team helped us execute our dream wedding and made adjustments whenever needed. She was able to handle our 230+ guests who were rowdy and chaotic, as well as our big/loud families. She remained poised, professional and accessible. She took the reigns the week of our wedding, handling communications with all our vendors, as well as took the lead on the day of our wedding. She made it a point to be the main point of contact -- reaching out and texting our bridal party so that they had her phone number for any questions. That really helped us focus on the day and stay in the moment.
There wasn't a time where we felt like we couldn't call Shannon or depend on her. We're also typically a punctual couple but whenever we had meetings, Shannon was always 15-30 minutes early, already waiting for us. She also always confirms appointments beforehand, sending a reminder/confirmation note via email or text. (We love that! It's refreshing to work with responsive and dependable people)

She also helped throughout the planning process, assisting in the selection of decor, and making sure we were on track with different planning milestones. Shannon was even nice enough to help me on my wedding dress search, having only my Maid of Honor locally to rely on.
The venue we selected also came with its own day-of coordinator. The drastic difference in help and level of service between the venue coordinator and Shannon was very apparent, so I would highly recommend hiring her in lieu of any the venue provides. She writes down everything and she knew from the get-go what my top priorities were. From listening to me she was able to help me and offer helpful suggestions when my ideas exceeded my budget. Her suggestions were so very helpful. I knew she was a good thing so I booked her like a year in advance. As the months dwindled down and I needed suggestions on vendors she was accommodating. With offering me suggestion on vendors she has used and been successfully with in the past. It was because of Shannon I found my awesome DJ!
Shannon is great with communication. She would always get back to me in a timely manner if I called, emailed or texted. When it was finally the month of she reached out to me before I even had to. (I know this seems minor and her job but after a year of planning there was so much on my mind so when the people I booked actually took the time to reach out to me first instead of the other way around it really helped and gave me a sense of relief as it took something off my plate to do or remember.) Even though I only had her month of services I really felt like she was there every step of the way when I needed her. She also worked very well with all the other vendors. She came in right when I needed her and made everything so much more manageable the day of. I could not be happier with her services. The day of she set everything up and was there to handle any issues that came up. If anything wrong happened that day, I have no clue because Shannon handled it all and put out any fires. I was literally freaking out at one point and Shannon was just so calm and made me feel better. She has that magical everything is going to be alright mom kinda vibe which put me at ease.
I would highly recommend Shannon for your wedding or event. She just gets the job done. On top of that she is just so sweet and approachable. She is easy to work with and just a lovely person all the way around. If you go with Shannon you will not be disappointed. With that being said if you choose Shannon (which you should) I highly HIGHLY recommend her florist. Her florist is Judi and she will do an AMAZING job with your floral arrangements. She doesn’t own her own flower shop, she only works with Shannon. For me this was a plus because after our first meeting I could tell Judi was passionate about flowers. I wish I had pictures from the wedding so I could show the amazing job Shannon and Judi do together. They work as a team and bounce ideas off on each other. All of which is sure to make your wedding the best wedding ever. Judi is super sweet just like Shannon. They’re like the best wedding duo. The icing on the cake is both Shannon and Judi are affordable, but don’t be confused on their affordability because they provide excellence service. And the results are just incredible. Shannon met with us and wanted to make sure she knew every detail we wanted to get done for our big day and made it happen. She took on the challenge of organizing and setting up our reception hall, from flowers, menus, favors, etc, while managing and directing 3 other vendors during the day. nnon allowed us to be creative and was instrumental in working our vision around the traditional wedding template. Prior to our wedding, she had met us and our chosen vendors a couple of times, plus met for a final site visit to go over every detail. She helped us with rental logistics as we needed to provide everything at our venue. She drafted our wedding day timeline, including deliveries, the ceremony and reception, miraculously fitting in the band, DJ sets and performers that we had hired. We also used her florist, and they both encouraged us to use our driftwood collection for our centerpieces. My husband and I thought it would be inconvenient, but she and her florist made it happen and the outcome was incredibly gorgeous! Before I got ready on the big day, Shannon assured me everything was going to fine and she oversaw the setup of all of our decor. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, she kept the ceremony and party on schedule, worked closely with the chef and his staff, and even went on an alcohol run when the whiskey ran out! I would highly recommend her if you're looking for someone who is extremely experienced, professional and really has a genuine interest in executing your perfect wedding.
