I loved absolutely everything about Agnes Scott College. The venues are stunning. The chapel and reception hall are the stuff of fairy tales. If you're into any kind of Dark or Light Academia vibes, this is your place.
Rita, the incredible event coordinator, made us feel comfortable, supported, and very well taken care of. Every single Agnes Scott staff member was on our team the day of our wedding. They looked out for us as a couple and for our guests. Everything they did went smoothly.
I'm thrilled with our experience at Agnes Scott. Gorgeous location, wonderful people, and oh - the food? Incredible. INCREDIBLE. Best food I've ever had.
You get an amazing bargain by having your event at Agnes Scott. So much is included, plus everything is in one place with easy parking and access to each building.
Fully, completely, totally recommend. I can't say enough positive things about our venue.
As soon as we stepped foot on the campus, we fell in love. The garden for the ceremony and the reception hall were stunning. They ended up being perfect for our wedding and fit our theme and vision beautifully. The staff was attentive and helpful on the day and the food was amazing. We are still receiving compliments on everything. The natural beauty and light of the campus are a perfect backdrop so we were able to keep our decor simple and elegant. Please know that ASC is not a typical wedding venue, however. This means that it was a bit more difficult working with the planning staff that it would be at a place that churns out 3 weddings a week. Everything is a la carte, so you will have more vendors to manage but this also means you get to pick exactly what you want. We were able to keep our bar bill to less than $1,500 which was great. The rental space and food costs came in a lot higher than we anticipated however. We spent close to $12K for space, food (cocktail hour and dinner), and fees. They really get you with the fees so be prepared for that. We were able to rent the Alumnae House to get ready in which was perfect. Its a beautiful building and we happened to have it all to ourselves which worked out great. Theres also a space for the guys to get ready which is helpful. If this space fits your look and feel, and you are willing to put in a little extra work in planning efforts you can really have a stunning wedding.
Based on photos, I thought this was my dream venue, but based on their customer service it is clear they do not want my business. I emailed the Office of Special Events on August 15. I didn't receive a reply, so I called two weeks later and left a VM with my phone and email. Still no reply one week later so I submitted an event inquiry on the general Agnes Scott website. (I hated to turn into a stalker, but I genuinely thought this could be "the one".)
Finally one month since my initial point of contact, I received an email with pricing information. I had a follow-up question, so I replied to the email within one business day. It's now been 3 weeks and I still haven't heard back.
Beautiful venue? Yes. The prices seem reasonable, too. However, I could not imagine spending a year coordinating a wedding with this staff given their poor communication.
Agnes Scott was a perfect venue for my ceremony and reception. I had my ceremony in the chapel, which sat our 120 guests comfortably but still felt intimate. The chapel is all windows so you feel like you are outside, but you do not have to worry about the weather. Agnes Scott also has beautiful outdoor ceremony options if you prefer that.
The reception hall is stunning! The food was amazing. We were able to provide our own alcohol with no corking fee, and the school is considered a non-profit, so no taxes on the catering. That saves quite a bit of money in the end.
I would highly recommend this venue!
My wife and I got married in September of 2011 and had both our wedding ceremony and reception here. And I say without hesitation, this place was an absolute gem and a STEAL of a value. We actually got lucky when my wife stumbled upon this place at an Expo. We snatched it up just before everyone figured out how awesome this place is. They have an absolutely beautiful chapel, and the dining hall can easily accommodate over 400 people. You may be deterred by the fact that this is a college campus (believe me, I was too). But the staff is top notch and all come from an extensive background in the hospitality industry. Howard Robinson was nothing short of a true class act. His patience and guidance displayed his utmost professionalism. As for the campus, it is breathtaking and we had plenty of places to take wedding photos. Also, there are plenty of places to setup in case you need options or a contingency plan. Do yourself a favor and snatch this place up before they get too busy!
Agnes Scott is a GORGEOUS venue and our wedding there was BEAUTIFUL, food was DELICIOUS, and the day was extremely well-executed. The staff was extremely attentive at the wedding and reception, the space was gorgeous, and all our guests were happy. I want to be very clear about that part of it.. the event was PERFECT on the day of. Agnes Scott does the catering, which is great, and there are tons of options.
However, the months leading up to it were very, very stressful. We were promised a reception in one price range (feeding guests for about $15-17/head plus $3200 for the room), but when we came down to the details, it was impossible to do the food for that price and have everyone be full, and there were fees for staff and other random stuff that added $1-2000 more than the originally discussed cost. We didn't have a final cost until the week before the wedding. The coordinator there is really nice, but I think they have been overwhelmed with the amount of interest since they started having weddings there, and they have not gotten all the kinks worked out. His response time to emails was really slow and frequently unclear or incomplete, but in person, he was very helpful. If you are willing to spend over $10K, this is a fantastic venue, but if not, do not let them convince you that you can do it on a tight budget because you really can't. :) Honestly, if we had known a realistic price range from the very beginning and had been willing to pay that, this would have been a near-perfect venue.
At first I was unsure of using Agnes Scott because it's a small college campus in Decatur. After visiting I was sold. There are several different options as far as the location of the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The wedding coordinator there is great! He's very flexible, comes up with great ideas and really makes you feel special! You can bring your own alcohol, which saves BIG on cost. Beautiful campus - not your typical campus buildings.
