Akari was so easy to work with to plan for hair and makeup for my small wedding party in December. They were accommodating to last minute changes, and I was thrilled with my stylis...
t Stacy - not only did my hair and makeup turn out to perfection, but she paid so much attention to my nerves all morning, helping me to remain calm. Highly recommend Akari!
We hired Zira, a make up artist at Akari, to do all the make up for the bridal party at our wedding. We could not have chosen a better person. Every single bridesmaid commented on ...
how sweet, cool, and calming Zira was during the day. My sister and I both have a lot of freckles, and she managed to give us beautiful make up that still showed our natural freckles. All the bridesmaids felt so comfortable and happy in Zira’s make up, and she was an absolute pleasure to be around. She was so amazing, that I now go to her for my hair color too (she is a woman of many talents)! I couldn’t recommend her and Akari more.
Akari was a dream for my wedding hair and make up! Genevieve was helpful and great via email to answer questions, set up our contract, schedule my trial, and coordinate details for...
the wedding day. Stacy did both my hair and make up and absolutely killed it. She asked great questions before and during both my trial and wedding day to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and was comfortable with. She gave helpful suggestions and obviously knows exactly what she is doing. We also had Jonathan and Zira for my bridesmaids and mothers of the bride/groom and they were amazing. Super talented, friendly, fun, and just what we needed to keep a fun and calm energy while we got ready. You may pay a little bit more for their services, but it is more than worth it. Everything about their services, salon, and staff is worth every penny I paid. I can't wait to go back to their gorgeous salon in Portland for their other services like facials and massages. Hire Akari if you want to not only look beautiful on your wedding day, but also want to start such a busy and whirlwind day of your life with calm, friendly, and amazing people. Can not recommend enough!

ue the day of were so responsive to each girl's individual style and vision. During my makeup, my stylist stopped at every point to make sure I was 100% happy. He knew how to create what I wanted and elevate it for my wedding day. They were receptive to changes and absolutely a dream for my wedding day. Everyone looked so beautiful and not at all overdone. The photos are amazing, we look natural but shining. I am so happy I used Akari for my wedding makeup I highly suggest them for anyone else. I also did my hair and makeup with them for my rehearsal dinner and again, they were incredibly wonderful and my stylist completely understood what I was looking for and executed it perfectly. I would 100% use Akari again for any other event in Maine!
I had the best experience with Akari. I have naturally curly hair and don’t wear a lot of make up normally so I was super worried they weren’t going to know how to work with my hai...
r or were going to pressure me into wearing a lot of make up. I shouldn’t have worried because they were so attentive and really listened to my concerns. I was so impressed with how simplistically beautiful both my hair and make up came out. I really felt like myself walking down the aisle and that’s all I wanted.
Hire Akari ASAP! They were delightful to work with, fairly priced, SO safe and professional during my intimate 2020 (Covid) wedding and just a real dream all around!

eup was perfectly glowing and understated. Not to mention it stayed put all day in the July heat AND through a 45min boat ride.
Wonderfully reliable wedding vendor 10/10
Natasha did my hair and make up and WOW! The level of professionalism at this salon completely impressed me. I felt like I was in New York City and getting my hair done by a celebr...
ity. She taught me how to put extensions in my hair while doing a full-glam makeover for my wedding. Not only was Natasha so sweet and fun to be with, she was just so knowledgeable about beauty! She did contouring, eye lash attachments, worked with my extensions, and gave me a makeover that made me feel like a queen. Thank you Akari!
I cannot say enough good things about the Akari team! Peter-John is the absolute best! He and his team made getting ready so much fun. They traveled to our house and my wedding par...

The Akari team was wonderful! Kari was lovely to work with. She listened and delivered on the hair and makeup - and made adjustments after I wasn't too confident at the trial. I f...
elt very much like myself on my wedding day, not like a done-up cupcake. Plus, my 'ethereal' braids and bun survived an epic dance party. Natasha was also awesome. Whole staff is super sweet!
Loved our makeup!! Natasha was just a pleasure to have as our makeup artist and everything could not have been more perfect. Thank you for traveling to Peaks Island for the big day...
and also thank you for doing a second makeup trial a week before the wedding so I could try the individual eye lashes- so accommodating!! Highly recommend!!
My sister and I have gone to Akari for a long time because we love their hair stylist Peter John. He always does great work. I recently got married in Ogunquit, Maine and had to ha...
ve him do my bridal hair and makeup. He was so laid back and easy to work with throughout the whole process. He came to our location and was super professional and efficient. He created a look that was so natural and exactly what I wanted pretty much without me telling him anything. Plus he was very patient with all of my flinching as I am not used to having someone else do my makeup. His positive attitude and great sense of humor are exactly what every bride needs as she is getting ready for her big day. The final product was so perfect. Thank you Peter John!!
We are from the east coast of Canada and got married in Portland. After reading an insane amount of reviews online, Akari was the definite frontrunner.

experience with hair extensions - I envisioned a thick, "messy-on-purpose" type braid to one side but had no idea how to translate that to reality. Luckily, Jenni is an artist and brought this vision to life. It turned out even better than I could have imagined.
For makeup, Jenni strikes again! I wanted a mixture of matte and shimmery pinks that were still subtle and she nailed it. My bridesmaids had their makeup done by Taylor and absolutely loved their looks.
Akari started our day off perfectly – getting dolled up with my girls and drinking mimosas. Everyone was super friendly and easy to work with. Aside from marrying my husband, Akari was one of the best decisions I made that day!
I can't say enough about Akari. Though scheduled to be closed, Akari opened up to allow for a few appointments on my wedding day. The salon is beautiful; modern and bright but stil...
l intimate. Peter, our stylist, was exceptional in every way. He was patient and inquired about my preferences, but offered just enough expert opinion and guidance to be helpful without overbearing. I needed only a few words to describe what I had in mind and he finished my thoughts and totally transformed me. I can say wholeheartedly that I felt beautiful on my wedding day. Peter's talent and vibe made the entire experience fun, free of pressure, and exciting for the big event. I could not have imagined a better experience for my bridal prep than the one I had at Akari. Thank you!!
They were AMAZING!!! Jeffrey and Ashley made the trek to Samoset Resort in Rockport and made all of us look magical. They worked efficiently but made sure everyone was having fun a...
nd enjoying the moment. I showed them a few looks but really left it up to them and it came out incredibly. I rarely wear makeup so I wanted it to look natural but special for photos and they nailed it. My hair was whimsical romantic but I never had to worry about it all night (usually loose curls can go flat or need touch ups). I would highly recommend Akari for any wedding :)
