I knew on our initial phone call that he would be the perfect fit for our wedding; he was very knowledgeable, explained everything thoroughly since I had no idea what to expect, and even gave recommendations for other vendors like hair and makeup. We used Alex and Jana Photography for our 10/21/2023 wedding and we are absolutely blown away by our photos! Upon my initial inquiry, I had a meeting with Alex where we discussed what I was looking for, vision, what I liked about their photos, how they work etc. Alex was very professional and personable during that conversation, and I knew immediately I wanted to book with them. I choose the 8 hour coverage with 2 photographers package and I feel like it was very reasonably priced. The majority of my contact was with Alex (contract, payments, timelines and photo lists), but my actual photographer the day of was Hannah. SHE WAS AMAZING. Literally the best! Hannah and I had a meeting a few days before the wedding where we went over the timeline, must have shots, problem family members to look out for, etc. I also mentioned to her that my husband and I are self conscious and we would love if she could help pose us in a way that was flattering. Oh man did she understand the assignment!! She was directive in the posing and paid attention to even the smallest detail. I feel like her direction and personality helped us relax and really enjoy the moment. We had a second shooter as well and they worked together and were bouncing ideas off each other and getting some really great angles and shots! When we got our sneak peaks back I was literally speechless! I am not one to love a lot of pictures of myself, but I loved every single picture that we got! Hannah really captured our love and the photos bring tears to my eyes. I would book with this company again in heartbeat!

We discussed what we were looking for and by the end of our conversation both of us were excited for our upcoming wedding. Since we had a small destination wedding in our local mountains and bowling after for our reception we wanted to make sure we got lots of fun pictures along with romantic ones on the lake. We just got our photos back from our July wedding and I am blown away!!! I feel like I relived the entire day looking back at the photos. Alex got the most perfect shots of everybody that night. My husband and I dont always feel the most comfortable in front of the camera, but Alex had a way of making us feel completely at ease. He was so personable and easy to work with. We also used him for our engagement photos and had such a fun evening shooting at the beach with him. Our dream photos come TRUE!!! I can’t express how much I love Alex’s work. Photography was one of the very first vendors I began researching after getting engaged because I am very picky about style, color, and capturing great candid moments. When I happened upon Alex and Jana’s profile on Instagram it was love at first sight. I remember getting butterflies as soon as I saw Alex’s reply to my initial inquiry email. My husband and I reached out to other photographers too and kept finding ourselves comparing each of them to Alex & Jana. They were our gold standard. Platinum standard! Booking with Alex was a decision we were totally confident in. Then, when our engagement shoot took place we felt so comfortable with him. He really made the experience not feel awkward at all. The photos arrived just 2 weeks later and they were JAWDROPPING. Alex’s talent is immeasurable. The location (which he suggested) was stunning but the results were even better than we imagined. And he captured our love for each other so beautifully. Finally, the wedding day arrived and he was just as lovely as ever. My whole bridal party appreciated his presence and we kept EXACTLY to the timeline. And, my goodness, did the wedding album not disappoint. I’ll say it a million times. They were our DREAM COME TRUE. Every picture is beautiful and sentimental and he captured all of our guests’ joy. I can’t say enough about him. He was the vendor we were most confident about and he STILL exceeded expectations. We had the absolute pleasure of having Jana photograph our engagement shoot and our wedding. Our engagement photos were just beyond gorgeous! Truly so beautiful. Long overdue review! We had the pleasure of having Alex & Jana photograph our wedding in October and we could not be happier with our decision. I reached out to them with an online inquiry and they got back with me immediately. From the get go, the process was SO seamless. We purchased a package that included an engagement shoot (which I highly recommend so you can get comfortable with your photographer before your wedding day!!) We wanted to do our engagement shoot in our home and Alex arrived prepared with all the equipment and fun ideas for photos. Alex made my husband and I feel SO comfortable - he is so calm, professional, funny, and friendly. We absolutely LOVED how our engagement photos came out, so we were totally confident when our wedding day came around. Fast forward to our wedding day, Alex arrived at the hotel I was getting ready at. Alex was SUPER organized, on schedule, and managed to get a ton of great shots in the midst of the morning-of madness (brides, you know how that is!). Throughout our entire wedding day, Alex kept everyone organized, gave clear instructions, and helped the day run SO smoothly. I cannot say enough terrific things about Alex and Jana. After the first meeting, I knew I met the photographer for my day. Alex is such a calming individual, as I rambled on an on Alex took notes and was so encouraging. In the months leading up to the wedding, I was a basket case, I was forgetting things. Alex was terrific in reminding me about what he needed before the wedding. Alex was also terrific in responding to emails, answering texts, and phone calls. Nothing was ever left unanswered. The day of the wedding I got the opportunity to work with Jana who is an absolute GEM. Jana has an infectious and cheerful personality, I could not help but to smile when she was around. Jana even helped my mom with my dress! When we were taking the portraits, Jana was quick and efficient. She noticed when the littlest members of our wedding party were getting squirley and needed to have their photos taken. She made me feel beautiful on my day!! I also got a sneak peak of my photos and I am so glad I hired Alex and Jana! If you're hunting for a photographer, hire Alex and Jana! you won't regret it!!

LOOK NO FURTHER! We had a decent-sized list of photographers to check out for our wedding, and Alex ended up being our 3rd “interview”. As soon as we got off the phone with him, we tossed out the rest of the list and hired Alex and Jana. We made the right decision - leading up to the wedding, the communication was excellent and made us feel at ease. Jasmyn ended up shooting our wedding and she was AMAZING - she made something that we feared would be awkward (who likes posing for photos?) into a fun, comfortable, enjoyable experience! We had lots of laughs (sorry for my “director” groomsman 😏) and she captured one of the best days of our lives in the most beautiful way. We were a little nervous at first for our engagement shoot but Jana is so sweet and made us feel comfortable. Once it came to wedding day, it felt so easy! Our photos turned out beautiful. We worked with Alex for our engagement and wedding photos and he was absolutely amazing. We must have interviewed 5 or 6 photographers, Alex being the last, and connected immediately. The search was finally over! He was fun yet professional, a hard thing to do, and always quick to respond. And, was also patient with us and our very old dog during the engagement session. Then, leading up to the wedding asked for a few prep calls to ensure we had the important moments and photos in mind, connected on the timeline, and everything needed to ensure a flawless day of pictures. As much as we wanted him to capture our important moments, we also did not want to be the only photos in the album. With 60 guests at a Cabo resort and a beach wedding, we wanted the photos to allow us to see all the moments we missed with our guests while we were busy catching up with people. Almost every guest is captured in a number of action shots with funny moments, odd dance moves to make us laugh, and other couples enjoying a dance together. We get to see our guests enjoying the day too! He was also sure to capture the little things: Wedding dress before the bride put it on, wedding rings together with a wedding invitation, the ceremony and receptions areas before guests arrive, the party favors, the decorations, and everything we could need to remember the full day in the future. Among all the positives above, possibly my favorite thing is that he fit in well with our friends. Had Alex put the camera down and grabbed a beer he would have fit right in (we were honestly a little sad he didn't for 15 minutes or so, just to take a break and enjoy himself...again, truly professional.) He is always smiling, positive energy, and just laughed when we said something that probably should have been obvious. Last, but one of the most important. Turnaround time and quality of photos. Alex was up front that the turnaround time is not short. Editing takes time, and he takes a TON of shots. Alex had about 40 edited and beautiful photos to us within the first week, also being some of the most important, which was perfect so we could use one for our thank you cards. We knew it would take around 2 months for the rest, and at the 2 month mark we received a link to download more than 600 amazing and edited, high resolution photos. Noting, I said "download". While there is an option for a flash drive, we use Google and Amazon photos, so downloading to these services was perfect for us. There is an option for all guests to do the same as well, though we shared the Google album with them, and directed them to Alex's portal if they wanted to buy canvas prints, etc. Like I said, there were amazing shots of our guests as well (at least one is already using for his new professional headshot). We could not have been happier with our experience with Alex. A wedding is a day we hope only happens once, and that usually means the couple has no idea what to expect...first time rookies. Alex made it so easy for us. We could not give a higher recommendation. It's really a bummer I can't post a few photos here to demonstrate everything I've said above. Thank you so much Alex! Jana was beyond amazing. I wish I had more words to describe how wonderful she was! She did our engagement shoot in La Jolla in April 2021 and those photos came out BEAUTIFUL. It ended up being an overcast evening which we were bummed about but Jana worked her magic and we LOVE our photos. We got two canvas prints and had them up at our wedding where she was with us all day!! She just makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera and makes it fun!!! Cannot recommend her enough.

Alex and Jana are amazing to work with! I originally met with Alex to go over packages and details and then Jana who was my photographer on the big day. They are both very down to earth and so fun. Packages were very reasonably priced and they worked with my budget to form the right one for us. Jana planned everything out so well and was able to capture all the moments that were important to me even with my big family! She kept us on track and also made the day fun. Not to mention the pictures!! Everything came out amazing from the details photos to our wedding party photos and the romantic shots of just us are breathtaking. If you want beautiful, candid photos that give you an ego boost and don’t look awkwardly posed, this is the team for you. Jana worked with us to prepare for our COVID-safe wedding. She not only helped us with a shot list, but also with a wedding timeline that allowed for amazing sunset photos. Day of, when things got behind schedule, Jana was there to nudge things along. She helped two very anxious camera-shy people feel totally comfortable in front of the camera and made the whole experience so much fun. (We’ve even talked about hiring her again for an anniversary or date night just as a fun gift to ourselves!) Our wedding was magical, but Jana’s ability to capture the unfiltered magic BLEW US AWAY! She knew how to get all the right angles, capture the raw emotions, and embody the essence of our love in photo form. Not only did her photos exceed our expectations, their prices are such a steal, it’s criminal. My sister is paying 5x what we paid for a wedding photographer, and she is worried her photos won’t look as good as ours. Jana was only there for 4 hours, but she still delivered 300 high resolution downloadable photos for less than $1800! And she even gave us a preview (44 photos) 2 weeks after our event! If this team is already booked for your date, change your date!

I don't know how to even express my gratitude for Jana. We had a list of recommended photographers from our venue. After doing my own research, I sent my top 3 to my husband was deployed at the time and wanted him to have a say since he missed out on a lot of the planing. Out of my top 3, knowing Alex and Jana were my #1, he thankfully picked them as well! From the start the process was SO easy. I spoke with her on the phone first and knew we did not need to look any further. Her friendly demeanor stood out instantly. We were both drawn to the use of nature and lighting in the photos. From the very start (email inquiry) to the wedding to everything afterwards, every interaction with Jana was absolutely wonderful. I loved having a phone conversation before I made any hiring decisions and clicked with Jana right away, after loving the images on their website. My husband and I worked mainly with Jana, both for our engagement shoot and for our wedding. Jana was AMAZING and we love her SO much. She has such a bubbly, warm, and welcoming personality. Covid bride here! We were engaged in 2019, and our first major decision was booking Alex from Alex and Jana Photography. Photos were a top priority, so I knew I needed to act fast. Alex was the photographer at a friend’s wedding earlier that year. After their recommendation and a phone call with Alex, I knew we found our photographer. Then came Covid. After postponements and cancellations, Alex stayed by our side. He was beyond professional throughout the process, especially as we all navigated through the pandemic. Our engagement photos were taken at Palomar Mountain. It was a beautiful winter day with snow on the ground too. So surreal. Alex was so personable and down to earth, and truly made us both comfortable throughout the process. I actually had FUN taking photos! The pictures were stunning and were used for our save the dates as well. Throughout the wedding planning process, Alex was very involved. I appreciated his attention to detail and extensive knowledge. He always put us at ease too, especially with the photo list! Alex was amazing on our wedding day this July! He captured everyone and every small detail with such natural beauty and grace. He made us all feel comfortable being photographed too. His ideas for photos were so creative and thoughtful, and turned out better than I could have ever possibly imagined. In addition to our engagement and wedding package, we also purchased his photobooth, as well as photo albums. The photobooth was an absolute HIT! It’s easily portable and it was moved from cocktail hour to the dance floor later in the evening. The process of choosing photos for print is so simple with his website too. We first met Alex back in 2019 when he did our engagement pictures. It was our second session with a different photographer and right away we knew we were going to love our wedding photos. His eye for the candid shots and keeping a natural timeless edit to his photos is why I choose him. He got us to laugh, have fun, and most important not stress about being in front of a camera. You will not regret booking Alex & Jana Photography, TRUST ME. From the moment my husband and I sat down and chatted with Alex, we knew that he was the perfect fit. The photos sell themselves, but Alex was so pleasant and easy to talk to. We trusted him fully and he delivered big time. I might also mention as a side note that our original wedding was moved because of the pandemic and Alex took my frantic messages and reschedule questions head on. Once we finally got to have our rescheduled wedding, him and his assistant were timely and never made me nervous once, in fact, they really helped me feel at ease with how relaxed and organized they were. We could not be more happy with the images we received. There are so many that we love they wont even all fit into one of the albums we can purchase from them. After talking with many photographers in our planning process, we booked Alex & Jana because they had everything we were looking for: great quality photos for an excellent price, natural looking photo edits , and best of all - personalities we knew we wanted with us on our big day. We had Jana and Hannah with us on the wedding day and they were so wonderful that even our guests complimented us on how sweet they were. Jana was able to guide us through our many photos before the ceremony, during cocktail hour, and through golden hour efficiently. After hours of smiling, we thought we would be ready for the photos to end, but Jana made it effortless and fun! Alex and Jana talked with us before the wedding to review the timeline and shot list and make sure everything flowed smoothly, while still getting all the photos we wanted. We were so impressed with them that we talked about having them photograph all our events -they are absolutely worth it.

Jana was an absolute dream to work with, from beginning to end. My wife and I loved the balance that she brought between listening carefully to our vision for our wedding and offering her excellent professional advice. This was particularly valuable after we had to adjust our plans due to the pandemic, shifting from a 100-person wedding in downtown San Diego to an 8-person elopement at Point Loma. Jana checked in with us regularly throughout several months of uncertainty, offered suggestions, and was consistently responsive and flexible as our plans evolved. On the actual day of our elopement, Jana was incredibly professional and warm, and made it super easy for us to feel authentic and relaxed as she captured our first look, family photos, and vows. Our families had nothing but kind words for the amazing energy that she brought to the day as our photographer. The day was not what either of us initially envisioned, and yet ended up being exactly what we both wanted - and we're so grateful to Jana for capturing the experience and making the process easy, fun, and light-hearted.

SERIOUSLY, LOOK NO FURTHER! Alex and Jana are the absolute best! They are very professional but they make you feel like you are their most important client. With a COVID wedding, they were a dream to work with and were so accommodating. Alex really took the time to get to know us to make sure we were a good fit before the wedding. We were able to use Emily, one of their photographers, for our Engagement shoot. Emily was wonderful and did a really great job and capturing the look we were going for and had many helpful words to guide us through the initial awkwardness of a couple that had never taken professional photos before. Jana shot our wedding and we could not be happier. She was a ball of joy and made both my husband and I feel like supermodels. We had so much fun together. Our photos came back promptly and they were GORGEOUS! We can't wait for future photo shoots with them.

My wife and I couldn't be happier with the experience we had working with Alex and Jana. We had initially booked Alex to shoot our engagement photos in June 2019. Throughout the entire process Alex was very responsive and willing to work with us at every step. We had first planned for photos at the San Juan Capistrano Mission, but because they closed early in the day, Alex suggested that we look for another location in order to catch the sunset. We ended up shooting the photos at Balboa Park. Alex was familiar with the location so he knew where and when to start. My wife and I were very happy with how the photos turned out. Regarding our wedding (July 2020), they were very flexible with us given the situation with COVID. We had initially planned for 1 photographer for 8 hours. Since my wife and I couldn't have a reception, we no longer needed an 8 hour photographer. We explained our situation to Alex and he was kind enough to draft up another contract of 2 photographers for 4 hours each - without charging any additional fees or penalties. I thought this was really nice of them since it was one less thing to worry about, given the situation with the pandemic. We ended up receiving the photos within one month of the ceremony and were very pleased with how they turned out. I would recommend Alex and Jana to anyone looking for professional, responsive, accommodating photographers.

Why can't we give 6 stars? Words cannot express how grateful we are for Alex and Jana. They became much more than photographers, and served as more of a guiding light as we dealt with our cancelled wedding turned elopement. From the day we told them plans were changing, they were accommodating and caring, had the greatest ideas, and always reassured us things were going to be okay. Their quality of work, attention to detail, and quick turn around times will have us singing their praises for years. We are lucky to have the photos that they took hang in our home forever. After months of searching for the best vendors, we hit it out of the park with Alex and Jana.

Alex was absolutely amazing to work with! He is super fun and easy to get along with and really makes you feel at ease! We had our wedding in March 2020 and did our engagement photos in April 2019 both with Alex. He was fantastic both times and the photos came out great. We reached out to Alex and Jana somewhat last minute by wedding standards (three months before) and are so, so grateful they were available on our day. Alex was very responsive to our first inquiry and from the very first conversation, which included lots of common interests and shared photography philosophies, we knew we had found a match. We wanted a photographer that would focus on the natural and candid moments, but also be assertive enough to guide and direct people if faces were being blocked or stray hairs were everywhere. Alex and Jana were exactly that! All of the preparation before the wedding was easy and simple, and we found their pricing incredibly reasonable for the value of the experience and the quality of the photographs we received after. As non-wedding people, they were particularly great at helping us navigate the more traditional elements of wedding and whether we wanted them. We were not that into the idea of a "first look," or "getting ready" photos, but Alex and Jana helped explain that regardless of whether we capture it, there will always be great moments where you see each other for the first time, or are with the people you love helping you, and those can be captured without feeling overly staged. We are now so glad we listened and have those moments saved! They also did a really fantastic job on site scoping out great shots for the whole family and for just the couple, while listening to our preferences and thoughts as well. We were so fortunate to be able to have both Alex and Jana on site to shoot our wedding and cannot recommend either of them enough!

We absolutely LOVE Alex and Jana Photography!! I am so happy we booked them for our wedding and engagement shoot. Jana was incredibly easy to work with -- kind, friendly, responsive, and professional. She has the best positive energy and makes you feel so comfortable. We happened to get a gloomy cloudy day for our engagement shoot by the beach and but she was able to work with the elements and get amazing (movie poster status) shots. I am truly OBSESSED with our wedding photos too!! Almost every single photo from our wedding day is a frame-able, "favorite" photo. There are SO MANY GOOD ONES. We had an outdoor Anglican-Catholic and Military wedding ceremony and they captured all the particular details in the ceremony that were so important to us and we are thrilled to have those memories preserved forever. We also had TEN little ones involved in our wedding -- ages 3 to 13 --  and she was amazing in working with them and getting them to all look at the camera with happy faces. We have incredible photos of the wedding setup and details, candids of our guests and wedding party smiling, dancing and having an amazing time, and all of the important event moments that we wanted captured. Alex was our wedding photographer and we absolutely loved him and his fabulous pictures!! From our first meeting - over coffee - we knew he was the one for us. It was a no-brainer decision. Our personalities just clicked, and I personally really liked that he had the perfect combo of high energy in a very relaxed demeanor. That turned out to be exactly what we needed on our wedding day. The pictures he took are so magical. He captured so many amazing moments, and we never ever felt like we were posing. It was all very organic and natural. I loved the way he worked! The family photo shoot ahead of the ceremony was also very relaxed and easy. And all the candid shots were so great. Alex really marked the day for us in a way we will never forget, and I can't recommend him enough. Alex Bruce is really fantastic. We hired him to take both our engagement and wedding photos after having a great conversation with him over the phone (and because we loved his photography style, of course). Both my husband and I are camera-shy, and ended up choosing Alex because he's very personable, and we correctly deduced that he would make us feel more comfortable in front of a camera. He also helped us pick a location for our engagement photos with some variety of scenery, which was great because my husband and I had different ideas about what type of photos we wanted. He also gave us some light instruction about how to position ourselves in our photos, and many of them came out looking so natural and candid. On our wedding day, Alex executed my impromptu plan for our first look photos without any hesitation. Throughout the whole day, he was helpful, organized, and non-intrusive. Alex and his wife Jana run a very professional operation. They have a portal for communication about the wedding, and the proposal/payment process is very clear and easy. The photos are delivered in a beautiful and easy-to-use gallery. The whole process was spot on. Keep rocking, Alex!

Alex was such a pleasure to work with! Alex & Jana photography was hands down most affordable of all the places we looked and the quality was excellent. Everyone raved about our photos. Moreover from the get go he helped us work within our (pretty tight) budget, giving us practical suggestions (for example, suggesting ordering just the rights to the digital photos rather than a zip drive or albums to avoid paying a hefty tax). He never pressured us into additional services which we appreciated. We had engagement shots at a beach in San Diego and Alex made the whole experience fun, so the pictures came out natural. He does a great job of capturing both posed pictures as well as candid shots and does a phenomenal job of working with natural lighting to create the best photos. Since you basically spend the entire wedding day with your photographer, it's important that you get along well, and we knew right off the bat from a phone interview that he was a great fit.
