Altar’d Events. We weren’t able to fly back to St. Louis to preview their music so we sent my parents to listen to them perform at the Tin Roof in St. Louis. Even through FaceTime, we could tell that this band was everything we had hoped—high energy, variety of musical genres, and an infectious love for music. The Red Jackets led by Alex Ruwe took care of all of our sound and music needs for our wedding—the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception party. We met with Alex over FaceTime to review details, discuss musical taste, and goals just a few weeks before the wedding. The Red Jackets covered a song they’ve never played before for our first dance which was absolutely perfect. The band kept the high energy for everyone to dance late into the night. I can NOT recommend this band enough for your wedding or event. They can play it all!! Our friends and family can’t stop talking about the wedding band. And it’s so refreshing to meet these lovely humans. They will always hold a special place in our lives.

, EVERYONE danced at our wedding. We gave him a fairly eclectic pick of songs-- bollywood, edm, pop and he managed to seamlessly transition between them. His acoustic performance during dinner and first dance were also amazing. We got a lot of compliments on the music that night. For our first dance, he promptly recorded us an acoustic demo within a couple week or so of letting him know. Alex is so talented; we highly recommend working with him!

Alex went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of, is beyond professional and kind, and made sure every part of the evening flowed smoothly! He was so flexible when we had to do a last minute room flip, and he made sure we had a BLAST on the dance floor all night long, even with our smaller 75 person wedding. We absolutely loved Alex!! We are immensely grateful for his presence at our wedding and if I was planning my wedding all over again, Alex would be one of the first vendors I hired. Our wedding was earlier in the day with a brunch reception and TRJ fit in perfectly to our special day. The guests of our wedding are still telling us how much fun they had at our reception - your dance floor will not be empty! So talented, so kind, and so fun - you do not want to miss out on them!

ic and intent on helping me, so he asked me my needs/wants for the reception, and ended up sending me a list of bands and DJs who were still available on my date, and who he thought would work well with my vision! I ended up hiring DJ Chris Brown through Alex, and the process was so smooth! Also, Alex's recommendation was PERFECT, because Chris really read the crowd and the dance floor was packed all night! Not only did Alex make a great recommendation, but he also kept up with me/helped me every step of the way. He answered all of my questions, and we even had a Zoom meeting together where we talked everything over in detail, like the bridal party entrance, first dance, father/daughter, etc. If you only want a particular snippet of a song played, or you even want some parts edited out, Alex can do all of that for you! That's what he did for me even though he couldn't actually be my DJ! He handled all the prep work and made sure the night went perfectly without him actually being there. So, even if Alex is already booked for your date, REACH OUT TO HIM!!! He'll still do whatever he can to make your day special!!!

I love the fact that Alex Ruwe personally communicated with us instead of having to go through a manager. Alex handles all of the booking and client communication himself and words cannot describe how special he made our wedding! When I was reviewing bands/music, I was extremely overwhelmed. I immediately loved the fact that I was able to correspond with Alex Ruwe personally instead of going through a manager. We spoke on the phone shortly after to go over all of the details on what we wanted out of a wedding band and he checked all of the boxes. Little did we know at the time how blessed we were to have Alexander Ruwe Band/The Red Jackets at our wedding. Alex was very responsive and quick to answer any questions that I had. My now husband and myself met up Alex personally a couple months prior to our wedding to go over which songs we wanted and to brainstorm. Alex is incredibly personable which made our experience even better! We booked Alexander Ruwe Music for our ceremony and reception. Alex sung acoustic during the ceremony which made everyone tear up because it was so beautiful. We wanted our guests to feel comfortable and the music was a big part of that! All of the first dances were also sung acoustic and in my opinion it made the moments so much more intimate and special. When we booked Alexander Ruwe Music, we learned that they have horns in the band! My husband and I love watching live music, so we absolutely knew we needed to have the horns playing with the band and they did not disappoint! We didn’t pick specific songs to be played – we just asked for a variety of genres. For the reception music, there were 6 people total in the band (including the sax player, trumpet player, and a female singer). The band had everyone on the dance floor, even our grandparents! Those who didn’t feel like dancing got to experience the amazing show they put on. Overall, having this band at our wedding was absolutely unforgettable! Words simply just cannot describe how lucky we were to have this band apart of our big day! I promise anyone who is looking for a band that you will not regret this choice. Our guests were so blown away by this band and they are still telling us about it! Not only were our guests impressed but the owner of the venue we got married at raved about how amazing the band was. We are still receiving praise for how wonderful this band was but honestly it’s this band that deserves all the praise. It was hands down the most wonderful experience ever!

make sure we were on the same page about the reception music and the venue and I thought that was really nice to take extra time out of his day in order to make our wedding day so special. I received so many compliments for our guest after our wedding about our dj and the choice of music he played during the reception. If you have an idea of how you want your wedding and reception to be, Alex will be able to help you put your ideas into real life with you having to do little work. The welcome dinner started with an acoustic set that was of course perfect, and when he suggested a DJ set later on we said yes.. little did we know that it was setting the tone for the weekend. BEYOND fun. Alex sang acoustic for our ceremony and his versions of the songs that are special to us will forever be unbeatable. I could go on and on about the reception. Every song was an absolute banger. Every member of their band is an absolute star. The energy, the talent, it’s all 100%. I will never stop telling people how incredible they are, and how happy we are with the experience we received. Oh, and our guests won’t stop talking about it either. 1 millions stars !!!

He played older songs when the boomers hit the floor and a ton of 2000s hip hop and r&b for the millennials (I’m 28). I got super drunk but didn’t get a hangover because Alexander played the right music to make me dance off any alcohol I had in my system. If you don’t hire Alexander I promise you are making a mistake. 1,000,000,000/10 recommend.

I wish I could get married again just so I could watch them perform again! The dance floor was PACKED the entire night!! Our wedding day would not have been the same without them!!!

e else not just to play our wedding, but to bring to life everything that music lends to the ambiance and feel of the day? Enter Alexander Ruwe. Passed along as a recommendation from another musician, we listened to every clip online we could find of him performing, and as a result, also discovered a young woman in a few of his videos whose effortlessly soulful voice gave us instant goosebumps. The way their voices blended together, we could already hear them as we walked down the aisle. There was no question about it — they absolutely had to play it. After reaching out to Alex directly, he promptly responded, and despite having a full schedule of gigs already, he hated to see a couple in a bind. Immediately, he agreed to play the wedding. We then asked about the young woman, who we learned was Joanna Serenko. Alex told us he'd reach out and check, and in the meantime, we again scoured the Googles for any videos we could find of her. Color us surprised when all the results were clips from her recent run on The Voice. Surely someone with John Legend on speed dial had better things to do than play our event on a Friday. But we were surprised once again when she'd agreed to join Alex for the evening without so much as a single question or hesitation. And just like that, what originally seemed as though it would be the hugest damper on our big day quickly became a blessing in disguise. Alex and Joanna absolutely killed it, performing a fun yet heartfelt acoustic set as our guests arrived, as well as a couple special requests for our ceremony, and then another amazing set during our cocktail hour. Our guests have all continued to rave about their performance, but even outside of that, both Alex and Joanna were so genuinely happy for us and to be a part of our day that it really made it seem like we'd known them forever. They had even asked us to let them know if there was anything they could do to help that day aside from just playing. We couldn't have asked for a better duo to play, and look forward to seeing them both at more gigs in the future.

hat sentiment. Alex went above and beyond for us, every step of the way. He recorded multiple samples of music so we could choreograph our dance. He learned to play a song in different timing so we could waltz to it, and he and the crew learned many of the family favorites. He checked in with us multiple times before the wedding to see if there was anything he could do to help. So many of our guests commented on how great they were! We cannot recommend Alex and his crew more highly! If he is still available for your event date, book him quickly. And, if he is not available, I would recommend moving your date to fit Alex's availability. They are that good!

Alex did a beautiful job playing acoustic during our ceremony, and The Red Jackets absolutely MADE the reception. They had curated their playlist to our guests' tastes, they had rehearsed our requests to perfection. Sound and lighting were on point, and the the crowd interaction was second to none. Every single guest at our wedding complimented the band. The dance floor was never not full. At this point we're just trying to find any excuse to book these guys again. Give them a call, seriously, you will not regret it.

We had to postpone our May 2020 wedding to April 2021 and He was more than understanding and flexible to reschedule with us. Which was a huge relief! We had the best reception ever and could not be happier with how everything turned out. He is truly the best and one of the most talented around, you would be silly not to book him for your next big event!

It was the best of both worlds and I highly recommend doing this. Alex not only has a large repertoire of songs he can play but he is also willing to learn something new if you ask! Alex is a seasoned event professional and was great with his communication from the time I inquired with him about his services, leading up to the event, and even after! We continually hear our wedding guests singing his praises and I am just looking for another excuse to hire Alex for an event. Honestly, more than just incredible and talented musicians, they’re truly some of the most wonderful human beings and it was such a pleasure to work with them. There are so many other things I could say but all that matters is, if you’re looking for a band for your big day: look no further than Alex Ruwe!!

ople turn to to “DJ” and play music, make a playlist, etc etc. So handing over the reigns to someone to be in charge of the music on MY wedding day was NO easy task. Alex was truly a no brainer for me. I wanted one person in charge of it all - the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. Alex exceeded all of our expectations. For the ceremony, I wanted to walk down the aisle to a popular song - but the piano version, no lyrics - I found a piano cover of the song on YouTube, and I sent it to Alex and was like “hey, can you learn this?” LOL - but not only did he learn it, he completely crushed it! It was perfection. Alex also played acoustic guitar at our cocktail hour - we let him pick the songs and do his thing, and we received SO many compliments on how great he sounded. Everyone loved it. Then Alex DJ’d our reception. BEST. DJ. EVERRRR. We put together a Spotify playlist of songs we wanted to hear during the night - I also told Alex what songs/artists we definitely did NOT want to hear - and he did fantastic! Literally the dance floor at our wedding was packed the ENTIRE night! My stepmom couldn’t even believe it - she said it was the most fun she has ever had at any event ever, and we had multiple people tell us that they have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was legit popping ALL night. The absolute highlight of my entire wedding was dancing so hard and belting “Mr. Brightside” on the dance floor with my closest friends and family - all of this thanks to Alex. If you want to feel confident that your music for your entire event will be in the absolute BEST (and extremely talented) hands, then look no further, and hire Alex immediately. His level of professionalism and musical talent is truly something to be admired. He is a Jack of all trades!

dropped to one knee and asked my best friend to be my maid of honor. We cried, we laughed, yes we were drinking, and Alex snapped some candid pics of us, it was amazing! I knew Alex was the frontrunner to play at our wedding (side note: I didn’t even have anyone else in mind nor did I even search for another musician after that day). We just connected. We talked about music since I come from a family of musicians, then we exchanged contact info and my MOH and I went on our way. Oh and, once we passed back by Alex I queued him to start playing the song, and my MOH started crying again! :) Fast forward a month or so — quarantine life began!! I kept up with Alex on Instagram and his Friday night Facebook Live shows from his living room. My now husband and I watched several weeks in a row and it was one night that I said, “babe lets tell Alex over this live FB chat feature thingy here that “It’s a yes for our wedding”. It seemed fitting for with all the virtual things that were going on in the world. So we did, and we had virtual cheers and I believe we took a shot with him as well. I know you’re thinking, more drinking… wasn’t everybody during those times! For the following months Alex put up with me sending him random songs...”what do you think about this, can you learn that?” — btw he can LEARN ANYTHING and PLAY ANYTHING, NO JOKE! I then found a female vocalist (friend of a friend) and asked Alex what he thought about playing/signing with her for the ceremony songs. He loved the idea and took everything off my plate and connected/met up with her to practice! Amazing!! He went over and beyond. He even reached out to me in the weeks leading up to the wedding asking if there was anything we needed! When you’re a bride who has a ton on your plate because you designed your own wedding, every detail, little things like that matter! He's crazy thoughtful! So me being me I wanted to make sure we were good to go with the ceremony songs, etc. Pretty sure Alex knew I was getting nervous since I had so much going on and I wanted things to be perfect. So we met Alex for some patio drinks (haha) and talked through the ceremony/music line up, which immediately took all the worry away. He was on board with everything, gave suggestions, light bulbs went off for me, like yea silly he knows what he’s doing and has done this numerous times! Alex knew I had a brother that’s a musician and he was totally stoked that I was going to have my brother play the father daughter dance, which he met up with before the ceremony to iron their things out — amazing! Ok, I’m almost done — this is my first time writing a review btw. But in all seriousness from the moment I met Alex he was full of life, such a great person and obviously an amazing musician. I think all of those things are equally important when choosing a musician/band for your wedding. You don’t want someone that shows up on the day of and says, I’m here, where do I set up? Alex showed up from day one, at the wedding show and continuously after that, all the way till our big day! BUT, the best part about ALL of this is that he’s not just the guy that played at our wedding, we can now say he’s a friend, a friend for life! We can’t thank you enough Alex!

l, fun guy who enjoys music and is passionate about what he does - so you know he's going to rock whatever job he's doing. But one of the things I loved most about working with Alex is his willingness to learn and try new things. The song I walked down the aisle to and our first dance song were not ones that Alex was familiar with before I "requested" them. But that didn't stop him from learning both and playing a beautiful version on our wedding day. It was absolutely perfect and I can't wait to get the recordings (what other dj/band does that!?). Do yourself a favor, pick Alex - you won't regret it! Alex, we LOVED having you be a part of our wedding day. It made it that much more special and we can't thank you enough.

uge music nerds and I asked him to learn at least 15 sounds for our wedding specifically. He did, and they were all perfect. He even created a rendition of an electronic dance music song that is my husband and I’s favorite song- and somehow turned it into a super special romantic version. Same with one of my favorite Kanye West songs- he somehow turned it into a super cool version. He provided microphones and a clip microphone for my officiant, a huge speaker, and came early and set up. He also stayed about 30 mins later than what we hired him for. Lastly- he is one of the most friendly and warm people we’ve ever met. So kind and excited about our big day. I could keep going on and on about Alex... but to sum it up: just hire him. You won’t be sorry and he will make your special day 10xs more special. Needless to say, we are planning on hiring him for any future large family events. THANK YOU ALEX!

Then, later in the evening when it started raining, Alex let us move him under a 10 X 20 tent and we kept the after party going for another 2 hours in the rain! We could not have asked for a better DJ! Alex truly cared about us and making our day the best day it could be! He even nailed the country song we had for our first dance. Everyone thought he was just playing the guitar and he had the real music playing in the background. No!! He sounded JUST like Kane Brown. Also - talk about easy going. He was the only vendor we worked with that was willing to be flexible IF we would have had to cancel due to Covid. He made our wedding so special. PLEASE do yourself a favor and book him today or at least go listen to him play at a local spot!!

e different songs into one for our first dance track which was absolutely perfect. He made three different edits to ensure it transitioned seamlessly, and took all of our feedback to heart. Our dance floor was packed the entire time, and everyone complimented our incredible live band. The emcee-ing was perfect (not too obnoxious, which is a complaint I have regarding most weddings we attend). The mix of live music + pre-recorded tunes was just right, as well a nice balance of fast dance tracks and crowd-pleasing slow dance songs. The groom's uncle surprised everyone with a guitar solo, which got the dance floor started, and Alex + his band joined right in as if it were planned. My husband and I are particular about what music we like, and Alex really understood our vibe from the playlists we created for him and the worksheet we filled out. Not only was our experience with Alex seamless, but the professionalism displayed was the best of all our wedding day vendors. The whole experience was high quality, just like Alexander and his band. Working with Alex was a true joy, and I hope to use his services again!

the nicest guys I've ever come across. He always answers our emails/questions within a few days, is super easy to talk to, and has a great sense of humor. We genuinely consider him a friend at this point rather than a vendor. For our wedding, I was hesitant at first using a live band, since we would be limited in our song selection, but his song selections were SPOT on and everyone had such a great time. He had a solid mix of oldies that everyone knew and could sing along with, as well as current top 40 hits. He was also SUPER accommodating for the first dances for our wedding. He learned all of our song requests and made them his own (which we asked him to do) and they sounded amazing. He even took the time to meet up with one of our friends to play the music for a Chinese song for the mother/son dance. We literally could not have asked for anything more. In addition, Alex's price was MORE than reasonable. After talking with some friends in Chicago, we found that most bands charge $1,000 per band member, and Alex's quote so so reasonable compared to that. I literally cannot say enough about our experience with Alex and the quality that he brought to the job. We look forward to continuing to follow him on his musical journey and will recommend him to anyone planning ANY event, wedding or otherwise. Thanks so much Alex!
