Choosing your wedding photographer is a big deal. Of all vendors you will book, you will spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than anyone else - even your own family! My job is to make your wedding day as much fun as possible, as stress free as can be, and to cover all of my bases ahead of time so that I can nail everything on our photographic checklist on the big day. I have been photographing weddings since 2010 - falling in love with the process of documenting love stories more and more each year.

os that Alex took on our wedding day, and we’ve had so many compliments about her as our photographer from our loved ones—not only for how the photos turned out, but for what a delight she was to be around on our wedding day and for how organized she was at every moment. Even in corralling our guests to take a group photo, which is no small feat, Alex struck the perfect balance of effectively leading the game plan while also being friendly, personable and fun. We are deeply grateful that we were able to have Alex there on our wedding day—she made us feel comfortable and happy, not to mention providing us with keepsakes that we’ll cherish for years to come. We can't believe how she managed to capture so many different moments and angles throughout the day—she has photography superpowers! ty, technical skill, and artistic vision. Alex delivered above and beyond on those criteria, and more. Here’s what we loved about working with her:
First of all, Alex is kind and generous, and that counts for a lot with us. She was responsive, warm, silly, collaborative, communicative, and really easy to work with. Alex has a calm, goofy, and easygoing personality, which is GREAT energy to have at a wedding. She’s also able to command a group. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, as well as our friends and family (some of whom are very camera averse). She had good suggestions for poses, so we didn’t feel lost at all. Our family has been raving about Alex and the photos - they loved working with her, as did we.
We had a very intimate wedding - 22 guests. Our wishlist included lots of guest photos. We cared so much more about having great photos of our friends and family than what the place settings looked like. At the end of our family portrait time, Alex accommodated some impromptu groupings at the request of our family, giving our family & friends the chance to have some of their most important relationships documented, too. Those are some of our favorites - they are such gifts celebrating all these lovely people and relationships. She also, independently, took portraits of all our wedding guests. What a gift. These portraits are beautiful, they capture the essence of our loved ones and are something we will cherish.
Second, Alex is also incredibly organized and has outstanding time management. She was early to both our shoots. She made the most of our time both during engagement and wedding photos. We collaborated with her on a prioritized list of wedding shots. She reality-checked what we could realistically accomplish and she captured all our high priority items. She listened to our feedback from our engagement photos and rolled that into our wedding. She also flagged us a couple weeks ahead of our event that there was a chance of rain, and that we should get backup clear umbrellas (fortunately we didn’t need them).
Third, the photos are incredible. When we got our photos, we felt like we were reliving the day and we really couldn't be happier. We LOVE her use of color - that was a major contributing factor to hiring her. Alex is so technically and artistically skilled. Her images have masterful color, composition, lighting, and editing. They are beautiful. Alex is the real deal. She knows what she is doing and is a master of her craft. HIRE HER!!

Every last need we had, she delivered. Every creative decision she made, we loved. Her assistant, Candace, was a perfect match and an excellent companion at our wedding and with our families. day amazingly. We planned for an elopement/micro-wedding with family and several friends. We hiked into a forest for a small ceremony and Alex planned a time line for us that made everything run smoothly. Her experience with weddings and elopements really shined. She provided guidance and suggestions which was greatly appreciated. All of our family and friends were from out of town and following a pandemic, neither of us have been able to see our families for almost two years. We were late arriving to the venue, and Alex was extremely understanding and patient with us. Since we were having a small and fairly informal ceremony in a public park, there were logistical things that needed to be set up once we had arrived, and Alex did such a wonderful job of finding beautiful moments to photograph amidst what felt like chaos.
Alex did an exemplary job of keeping us calm and composed as we could feel our nerves settling in. She helped up pin on all the boutonnieres since none of us knew what we were doing. She was such a grounding presence during what could have been a very awkward process.

She also is completely supportive of my LGBTQ+ family members, which was high priority!

reached out to her I didn't really have a plan (and ended up changing the plan on her a few times... :) ) and she was 100% supportive and excited through the entire process. She was not only our photographer and only witness, but was also a huge help in us planning and understanding what to do and where to go. Her vast knowledge of photographer really shows when you are out shooting with her. We felt SO comfortable with her and the entire day was a complete blast! She does not lack professionalism - she stayed in constant contact leading up to the day, along with giving us sneak peeks and keeping us updated on when to expect everything else. She was transparent up front about availability, costs and everything else. It was so important for us to have an intimate elopement, and I really feel like we got so lucky finding Alex, I could not have imagined having a different photographer there. There was so much emotion and story in the pictures, I couldn’t believe it. I followed her work for years until it was my turn to get married. Once I had a date and a venue I booked Alex. We talked to a few other photographers but knew she was the right fit after meeting her in person. She is a clear communicator, extremely professional and takes her work very seriously. Let’s be honest, planning a wedding is work, and working with Alex made my life as a bride easier. She has experience and is a great resource.
Our engagement shoot was one of my favorite days that let up to the wedding. I proposed my idea to Alex and she helped me flesh it out and the day of we had a great time. She helped my fiance feel comfortable and confident. The perfect dry run for our wedding day, plus I will cherish our engagement photos forever - such a special time. Plus, did you know Alex shoots in film? Oh yeah, those creamy colors you see in her portrait work are probably from her masterful film skills.
Alex was very flexible with our needs and the vision we had for our wedding day. Always clearly communicating what she needed from us, hello shot lists, and listened to what we requested of her. I would say our wedding was pretty run of the mill, like nothing super out of the ordinate, but her photography made it something special and unique. Alex has a way of telling a story with photography which was one of the reasons we chose to work with her and her crew. We had a second shooter, Leda, who also was amazing, along with Alex’s assistant. My number one overall requirement for our wedding was that we do golden hour photos. It wasn’t the dress, the cake or first dance song - I just really wanted golden hour photos. The weather held out on us and produced an amazing sunset over the lake - these are by far my favorite pictures. I am SO happy we went with Alex, she made my dream come true.
I would echo many of the comments of others who have worked with Alex. She provides top-notch customer service. She responded to every inquiry in a timely and thorough manner. Not will she be your photographer but she will feel like an old friend - and likely become one. Thank you, Alex!

1. The qual...
ity of her work. Alex is an artist and her photos are stunning. She shoots in both digital and film, each of which is beautiful in its own way. She captures a diversity of angles, lighting, and poses. She also does not over-edit the photos, which is more of a personal preference but was important to us. They look natural. It seems trendy right now to have photos that are very saturated or desaturated. If that's your desired look then great! But it wasn't ours and Alex was a good fit for that.
2. Her calm, confident personality. It feels a little odd to comment on someone's personality, but you want to surround yourself on your wedding day with people who are simultaneously low key (don't stress you out) and are also confident in what they are doing and can guide you through whatever it is you're trying to do. Alex is this person. She has a calming presence while being able to direct a group of people. We were admittedly nervous about getting our photos taken so much. Alex helped make us comfortable to the point where she could capture really genuine moments between us.
3. Her excellent customer service. For the entire 15 months we worked with Alex from our preliminary interview and engagement shoot through our wedding she provided top-notch customer service. She responded to every inquiry in a timely and thorough manner. She advised us about our engagement photo attire, wedding day timeline, trying to get all our family portraits, etc. She turned around a photoshop request for our thank you cards in the same day.
4. She's great with dogs. Ok, not everyone has a dog or cares about this, so if you don't then you should still hire her for the above reasons. However, if you have a dog, know that Alex will take some gorgeous pictures of it! Our pup is ordinarily really calm so we were pretty dismayed when he was overstimulated and excited at our engagement shoot. Alex managed to capture great photos of him and us. Honestly we were surprised at how many she got given his kind of hyper/excited behavior.
If you haven't gotten the point yet, hire Alex. She's great.

Not only did we have a great time working with her at our wedding, but Alex was also incredibly thorough and an excellent communicator in the months leading up to the wedding. She was available via text and email to answer our many random wedding questions, not just about photography. This was really valuable to us.
We found Alex's prices to be really flexible and reasonable given the high quality of work. If you're choosing to invest in photography as one of the priorities in your wedding budget, you can't go wrong with Alex.

Alex’s professionalism and communication were also exceptional! She met with us in person early on and continued to stay in touch regularly. We appreciated that she scoped out our venue ahead of time and had backup plans in case of equipment failures, illness, transportation difficulties, and so on.
After our wedding, Alex kept us updated about the processing, and she mailed our portfolio of printed photos in a wooden box that now sits in our living room. We will treasure those photos for the rest of our lives.

we were satisfied with her work. We met Alex in the beginning of the year to see how she fits with our wedding inspiration. Then, we took our engagement photos with Alex. I have two small children so, she was extremely patient with everything we needed to cater to them.
One characteristic that stick out to me about Alex was that she is very caring. I had an idea to take a picture with a soda that was part of my proposal. Well, right as we were walking to take photos with the glass soda, it shattered when it fell out of the stroller. I was bummed but there was nothing we could do about it. Less than a week later, Alex sent me a new one with other goodies! I mean c’mon, how sweet is that?! :)
On our wedding day, Alex was on time (early) and ready to get started! She actually had showed up to our rehearsal a day before so she was prepared on lighting and where to take the photos. All through the day she made sure everything I needed from the photography was taken care of and was extremely patient with my huge wedding party of bridesmaids and groomsmen(18 people total).

r photographer was going to be. She did an incredible job of capturing Matt and my story from the engagement photos to the chaos of the day. She's also an incredible trooper as we threw a curveball at her in the form of a nearly mile-long New Orleans style second line band in Seattle. We figured she would get a couple photos at the beginning and then bolt to the reception site but no, she captured the whole freaking thing and those were some of our favorite photos of the day. She was also amazing when hair and makeup were late about keeping in contact with our day of coordinator so I could try to breathe while I was getting finished. She also managed to make our messy apartment look awesome in the photos she got of the "getting ready" section.
Alex does an excellent job of getting to know the couple for who they are and seeks to capture that essence in the photos she captures. Since she shoots primarily in film (but isn't snotty or hipster about it at all, YAY!) the photos do take a bit longer to come back than if someone just uploaded digitals, but OH MY GOD are they worth it!! The packaging that the photos are sent in after the wedding is another amazing surprise treat that is oh so Northwest. We talked multiple times over email and since she hadn't shot in our venue before she did a walkthrough and found the best spots for all of our photos! s possible. Well, turns out that attitude is great, but it doesn't mean you don't have decisions to make. When we first met with Alex, she asked a handful of questions we weren't expecting but she quickly identified what we were looking for in a photographer and in our wedding photos--someone who we trusted to take incredible photos and make decisions on the fly.
Alex invested time in getting to know Scott and I, checking in occasionally prior to the wedding to see how planning was going. Those thoughtful reminders and niceties helped Scott and I remain excited and avoid being overwhelmed during our planning.
On the day of the event, as I frantically searched for my lost car, Alex snapped one of a stressed out Scott eating (one of my favorites) along with other details photos of guests waiting to head to the ceremony. While taking advantage of the down time, Alex also was sure to check in periodically throughout the event to make sure we were able to capture the memories while we were making them. My vision was so focused on Scott and I that day I often forgot about those around us. A camera is a really funny contraption in that way. Through such a small, focused hole light bleeds in. With the right person holding the camera, Alex in our case, it captures so much more than you are aware. Not only the colors and the figures but the joy, excitement, camaraderie, beauty of just a few moments in a lifetime. Thanks Alex!!

could have been better is if there were 25 hours in a day and we had more time for more pictures. She has an incredible eye for pictures, angles, lighting, and perspective. She is brilliant with posed shots, as well as candid photos as well.
Alex is practically the Official Photographer of our relationship, as in addition to being our Wedding Photographer, she also did our Engagement Photos. :-) I sure hope she has some free time on the books when/if we make the decision to have kids. Alex started off by meeting with us in person to cover over the services her would be offering us, gave us upfront pricing, and generally made us feel way more comfortable and knowledgable about what our day of photography would look like. She continued to follow -up with prompt communication all the way through day of, and even "toured" (really hiked) to our venue with us the weekend before. 15/10 for awesome right there.
Our wedding wasn't particularly traditional, and Alex both embraced it and knocked it out of the park with our photos. We had a small wedding that involved hiking 1100ft+ elevation gain in 2.5mi, which she hiked with her gear, while smiling, and wrangling our families into place for photos. I can't even begin to describe how special it is to have such beautiful photos from an event that truly captured us. Every single photo she gave us was absolutely gorgeous and already make us nostalgic for that day. She delivered us our photos so promptly after the wedding, and they were wrapped up in the cutest keepsake box we could imagine.
To wrap it up, working with Alex is an absolute dream. She is incredibly knowledgeable, personable, creative, and has an absolute passion for capturing moments that truly freeze that day in time forever. She met us at Golden Gardens and we had our 90 minute photo session. It was a great experience. we took her on a little hike to go to our favorite spot.
