As to communication: Yes, I told her and Caroline those exact words, I tell that to ALL of my clients because I LOVE communication, however, I had NONE from either Kathryn or her daughter, up until July. Had she or Caroline reached out to me, I would have responded promptly, as I always do, so I am not sure why she is trying to make it sound like I was not responding to her or her daughter. As to our meeting in July: I told Kathryn about the dahlia issue because I was trying to explain the increase in costs in flowers since Covid and the sate of our industry at this time. I wasn’t aware that she would take it as complaining…but this goes to explain her disposition, which is, quite frankly just hateful (name calling, must be updated to reflect that this is your opinion). I was telling her that unlike many vendors in my industry, I was still honoring my pricing, even if it meant not making the same amount of money and yes, and entire order of Dahlias came in dead and I drove to another state to get Dahlias for my clients wedding. This is something I shared to let her know the lengths I would go to to make sure my clients are happy and get exactly what they want on their wedding day. As to the email after our meeting, Kathryn wanted to know why I was charing her for $45/each for magnolia wreaths for the church doors and urn arrangements when “I didn’t have to pay for the magnolias”. I had already explained to her that I would still have to go and cut down the magnolia branches, which she was originally supposed to supply, but would not because she did not want to drive the magnolias to Lexington (I also supplied these at NO COST to decorate the interior of the church) and I explained that I still had to make the wreaths and arrangements. Kathryn felt that I should not charge for my labor of making floral arrangements, so I suggested that I refund her deposit and that she should find another florist. This was after she had also slashed her budget from the original proposal that was just under $10,000 to $4500 for a wedding that had 30 centerpieces, 16 6 ft head tables with greenery, 200 gold votives a wedding party of over 30 people, church decorations, which were also then used at the reception. A church ceremony and reception in 2 different cities with set up and tear down of both venues. As to the paint issue: This is another gross exaggeration by Kathryn. She had originally wanted to have garden roses in her florals, but in July, she wanted to save money, so I suggested we use hydrangeas to save her money and I could paint them, however, I was unaware that there was and still is, a floral paint shortage. Covid has adversely affected ALL industries, especially the floral industry with everything from shortages on supplies to flowers. I tried to explain this to Kathryn and I offered her several options/solutions she insisted on trying to source the paint herself. She found paint, but it turned out to be NEON PINK, not the raspberry she had said it would be. I replaced the hydrangeas AT MY OWN COST with raspberry roses that were 3 x’s the cost of what she had paid for the hydrangeas and did not charge her for it and she never even thanked me. She had more expensive flowers that she originally wanted, yet she is still complaining, which I cannot quite wrap my head around….. As to changing the final payment: I did no such thing. Kathryn wanted to make the final payment with a credit card, which I accept, but I do charge a standard industry fee of 4% to cover costs. She was unhappy with that and was in quite a huff about it. I offered several other options for her and she was still angry and hostile. She tried to call me several times after business hours and was angry at me for not taking business calls when I was closed for business, which is quite unreasonable for anyone to expect. Kathryn expected me to be at her beck and call 24/7 and work for free, and neither of those things are reasonable or acceptable. As to not speaking to her again until my review on The Knot: Kathryn would not even look at me on the day of her daughter’s wedding. My team and I worked 15 hours that day alone setting up both the wedding and reception and she would not even make eye contact with me, so I am unsure of why she would say such a thing, but it speaks volumes as to her character. As to being rude to her “wedding corordinator”: Kathryn's niece served as the day of coordinator and I am unsure why she would say that I was rude to her. Her niece called me on the day of the wedding asking where the urn arrangements were for the front of the church and I explained that Kathryn hadn’t wanted to pay for them, which I had already told her 3 days prior to the wedding in an email when we were going over wedding details, but her niece never bothered to read my email. As to the comment of ‘lackluster flowers”: I find it highly offensive. Even with her small budget, I delivered beautiful floral arrangements, all of which I have photographs of for proof. As to the bridesmaids florals being brown: this is simply ridiculous. The flowers were delivered to the church at 10am, as requested, all in vases, with water. The reception was at 6PM and if the flowers were not kept in water throughout the day when not in use, then yes, they may have wilted for not being in water for EIGHT HOURS. They are live, real flowers, so if not kept in water all day, they will die, but Kathryn wanted to reuse them to save money. I provided vessels at no charge to keep this from happening, however, they were left at the church and never used by the wedding party. In my opinion, any reasonable person would be able to understand that Kathryn is simply one of those people in this world that is never happy with anything . Even the staff at the Marriott complained about her treatment of them and how she wanted everything, but did not want to pay for it. The round tablecloths that were used on the rectangular tables were the perfect example of cutting corners that was evident all over this wedding . Mrs. Mitchell (personally identifiable information, must omit) taught me a valuable lesson about when to walk away from someone who does not value my work, time and talents and I should have sent her back her deposit and never done the wedding flowers to begin with.
