We loved working with Allen for our wedding photography! He is professional, detail oriented and extremely efficient! It was clear he knew our venue (the Nasher Sculpture Center) well, as he navigated the garden and varying light with such precision. He worked quickly to accommodate all photos before ceremony - one of our biggest asks, which I'm sure was difficult with our large family. We're so excited to get a peak at our wedding photos and relive this special moment. Would highly recommend!

Allen did our wedding in June 2019. He was professional and prompt. We struggled to get my bridals done before the wedding due to rain and once we finally were able to do them he had them done in a short time to displace at the wedding. He did a great job of capturing the day even though it was jam packed. We also had to fight off a little rain but all of my photos came out amazing. I would recommend him to anyone I know!!

Infinite praises for Allen! He was the photographer for our wedding this past October and we could not have been more pleased. Not only are his images absolutely beautiful, but he is such a rock star on event day. He went above and beyond to capture each and every moment perfectly – Which even included darting across the entire garden to recollect my brother-in-law who had wondered off. He will go to any length to ensure your wedding day photos are flawless, including tediously fixing my train every 5 minutes.. (Bless him!) Also, he uses a film camera primarily which brings a classic yet artistic look to all of your images. I proudly have several displayed around my home and our friends and family comment on our wonderful they are constantly. What can I say, he is truly amazing and you will not be disappointed! This review is long overdue, Allen was the best vendor I hired for my wedding. Our wedding was in Chicago and the engagement photos we took were in NYC. It was definitely on the pricier side but I felt it was important for me to have my wedding documented in the perfect way. Allen is super easy to work with, his replies are prompt and insightful. He was on time/early to everything and has a really great attitude. He’s also very good with getting kids to look at the camera. His deliverables are in his guaranteed time frame and our final wedding photos were also easily organized into categories for viewing. At first I was a bit hesitant to hire someone not familiar with my venue or the area I wanted to take photos in but this wasn’t an issue at all. Allen took time to check out the spots we were interested in taking photos at in Chicago (and he’s already quite knowledgeable about New York). He also has a great way with capturing light in his photos. Overall, we were super happy with our decision to choose Allen! Allen really is the best of the best and we are so thankful to have had him capture our big day! He was such a pleasure to work with and his photos truly left us speechless! Allen is beyond amazing. After booking our venue, we focused on searching for our photographer because we knew that we wanted someone that we could connect with. There are so many amazing things to say about Allen, but we'll do our best to list just a few. 1. ) In the end, a picture truly does say a thousand words. We were interested in over 20 photographers and ended up meeting with 6 of them. Our first meeting with Allen was astonishingly comfortable, and he was so open and honest. He was easily our top choice, but we were a bit hesitant in the beginning because his pricing was nearly twice as much as our second choice. Ultimately, we decided that we couldn't assign a price to the memories we would cherish on our wedding day, so we made the leap ... and we're so happy that we did! 2.) Versatility is key. Allen was incredibly flexible and accommodating throughout our wedding planning experience, and just so, so, so wonderful to work with. We were an out-of-town couple, and Allen made himself available for face-to-face meeting based on our travel schedule, and was always very response to questions via email. We did not take our engagement photos with Allen, so our first (and only) photography session with him took place on our actual wedding day -- talk about unnerving! We weren't sure how things would go, but when we met up, he was just as we remembered: joyous, enthusiastic, and passionate. Even when one of our parents' guests couldn't help himself but also "play photographer," Allen was polite and professional. He was continuously resilient and adaptive in the challenging situations he was faced with, whether with a difficult stranger, or fighting excessive exposure from the afternoon sun. 3.) True talent and artistry is sometimes rare to find. It's easy to snap a photo -- anyone can do it. In a world centered around social media and new technology, we inadvertently de-value art because it is so readily accessible. Allen recognizes this. He chooses to work in film photography, which requires much more thoughtfulness and care than the digital medium. He doesn't simply take thousands of photos just because he can: he would rather have just a few quality photos than a collection of meaningless images. That kind of talent isn't easy to stumble upon. We have so many things to say about Allen. We adored having him, and we absolutely cannot wait for any future opportunities to work with him that may come our way!

Allen is hands down one of the best photographers in Dallas! Having worked at an event space in Dallas for 4.5 years, I have seen many photographers work and none compare to the way he meticulously captures every special moment beautifully. He has photographed my head shots in the past and our Dallas event venue several times. It was absolutely a no-brainer to ask him to shoot my engagement photos and my wedding. Nothing has been short of fabulous! He has the most unique and beautiful style for any occasion! When I got engaged in 2018 I knew the first vendor I absolutely needed to book was Allen Tsai, I couldn't imagine planning a wedding without him being part of the team. Allen has an amazing ability to capture the details and beauty of your wedding in such a way that when you look back at the photos you feel like you a reliving it. He is able to capture everyone's emotions so perfectly through his candid photos. We had decided to forgo having a videographer at our wedding, and I am so glad we did because Allen's photos truly show the emotion, joy, and happiness we experienced. Allen's photos have a romantic lightness to them that makes you feel like you are living in a fairy tale. As someone who hates getting their photo taken, I have never felt more beautiful. Allen has a knack for making you feel at ease and he makes the photography experience fun. My husband and I were nervous going into our engagement session but Allen did a wonderful job coaching us through the photos. I was super stressed out trying to plan my wedding in 3 months. At the time, I found Allen on google. I went through his portfolio and I fell in love with his work. His pictures are very natural and airy. I decided to contact him and asked for pricing. Yes, I know that his pricing is on the high end so I was a little hesitant about Allen. However, after talking to other friends who got married before me, they all told me that pictures are the only things you have left to look back after your big day and they would rather spend more money on a good photographer if they could. I then contacted my wedding coordinator and asked her if she has worked with Allen before. She told me that Allen is one of the best photographer in Dallas and if he's even available on my wedding day, I should really book him. My wedding coordinator vouched for him so I feel a lot better and I went ahead and booked Allen. And let me tell you, it's probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. Allen is such an incredible photographer. Word can even describe how happy we are that Allen was a part of our big day. My husband and I are very awkward people. We get very uncomfortable in photos and he made us feel super relaxed while making sure the photos turned out natural and candid. Our photos weren't posed. He knew all about the right angles and gave us directions so that pictures turned out so stunning. He knows how to capture all the precious moments. Our day went by so fast and having him capture those moments makes us realize how beautiful our wedding was. Our wedding has many different ceremonies. We have our Vietnamese tea ceremony, a Chinese tea Ceremony and an American ceremony then the reception. Allen was there for all of it and prioritized capturing every single moment. He didn't have time to eat at the reception because we had so many things going on. One of the best thing that I like about him is that he had experience with videography. He works closely with my videographer and he knows when to step in and out to make sure our photos and video turn out stunning. Allen is also very detail oriented. On our big day, Allen took his time, fixing everyone's attire to make sure they look good in every single frame. My father in law, who is very impatient, complained how Allen made him button his vest. But once he got the pictures from Allen, my father in law was blown away and couldn't be happier. My father in law finally understood why Allen is so detail oriented in every single frame he takes. We are so happy with our wedding photos, we booked him for our maternity session as well. It was truly a pleasure to work with Allen. Don't hesitate to hire Allen. We will treasure these photos forever.

We were introduced to Allen at a friend’s wedding a couple years ago. As well as being one of the nicest, friendliest, and enthusiastic photographers we have ever met, it was clear his work was beyond amazing and so far ahead of any other wedding shoot we had ever seen. Technical skills: In the business of fine art photography, we believe it is important to state that Allen is FILM PHOTOGRAPHER before he is a digital photographer. The reason we emphasize this is because we have used other “film photographers” who rely heavily on results from their digital camera and thus delivering an album high in digital shots. The albums we receive from Allen taught us to truly appreciate film photography. Allen’s work has an essence of airiness. He is a master in working with light and shots are always in focus. He produces reliable and consistent results with a predictable high success rate (difficult for film photography). Other film photographers shoot a high number of shots with low yield results. Allen’s style is tasteful and he pays great attention to detail. As a wedding photographer: Allen’s work ethics and level of care was much appreciated during the stressful process of planning a wedding. Allen’s impressive portfolio is proof that he works well with other wedding vendors. In fact, some of the vendors from our wedding has reached out to him in hopes to collaborate. We were confident in Allen’s skills and level of work after he shot our engagement photos as part of the wedding package we booked. Not having to constantly worry about one of the most important parts of our wedding is priceless. He was able to overcome unexpected obstacles and dealt with incorporative family members. Allen effectively communicated our vision to the other vendors. As a destination/travel photographer: Allen is well traveled and has proven to be a reliable travel companion. Traveling together to Morocco for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Allen was able to utilize his ability to quickly adapt to changes in lighting. We shared a photo session at sunrise with two other couples and from the beginning to end, Allen was consistent with the quality he delivered. Allen is great in new and unfamiliar places and works very hard to get the perfect shot. This is not limited to enduring a 24 hour bus trip, riding on the back of a camel, and running up and down the sand dunes in the Sahara while keeping the shot in focus. As a local (Dallas) photographer: Very familiar with all the top Dallas locations and perfect lighting depending on location. People know him and are willing to take you more seriously if they know you are working with him. We’re guilty in using his name to receive better service and grantt exceptions.

Allen is truly an artist! He shot our engagement photos, my bridals, and then our wedding. I have always had a hard time liking pictures of myself, but Allen was able to work his magic and I absolutely love the photos he took of my husband and me! He walked us through all the different poses and gives really great guidance as far as what to do in front of the camera, so there was no stress at all during the shoot. He's also so patient and nice and makes you feel very comfortable. In addition to making the photo sessions easy and enjoyable, his final product is absolutely beautiful! I get so many compliments from people on our engagement & wedding pictures. He was able to capture my husband & I in a way that was authentic, not cheesy. Allen was such a pleasure to work with! We are extremely impressed with his professionalism and his eye for creating artistic photos. He was very patient and very clear about his posing styles and he made my husband and I feel amazing in front of the camera - and I don't think that's easy to do! To say that Allen is a true artist when it comes to photography almost seems like an understatement. My husband was actually the one who found Allen when he had come across his work on Instagram and we were both instantly in love with his light and airy style. For us, our wedding photos were one of our top priorities, as they are something we are going to treasure all our life. So we wanted to be sure whoever our photographer was not only fit our style, but also put just as much importance on our big day as we did, and Allen did all of that and more. I cannot brag enough about him, and yet his work speaks for itself. He has an innate ability to make his client’s feel so incredibly special, as well as get to know them on a personal level. Allen is a rockstar. He was the very first vendor that we booked for our wedding - before the venue or anything - because we were absolutely sure that we wanted to work with him. First he shot our engagement photos, then my bridal portraits, and finally the wedding. Each shoot turned out better and better. He was able to help coach us through posing while simultaneously making us feel comfortable and not at all robotic. When we finally got our wedding photos back, we were honestly speechless; they were beyond anything we could have expected. If I could give Allen 17 stars I would, he is just THAT good. We used him for engagement photos, bridals, and the wedding day. He used a combination of film and digital. He has his PhD in NEUROSCIENCE and its obvious that dedication and attention to detail has translated into this passion of his. Though he is not the least expensive option, the quality of his work, his professionalism, and even friendship made all the difference. My mom raised concerns about spending such a large percentage of my budget - he was worth every penny. Even now, she agrees his talent for capturing special moments is unmatched. A couple friends saw our photos and each wanted to book him for their upcoming weddings! An album of wedding photos was included in our package - Allen even helped me choose the photos and order AND designed the pages! FINALLY, when my makeup artist fell through TWICE he recommended Quyhn (Q the MUA) and they kind of saved the day. I cannot say enough to compliment this talented man!

Allen is the best. I'm going to make it really easy for you. Pros: 1. He's an artist and takes photographs that you couldn't even have imagined. 2. Allen is so much fun! It's like he's a member of your wedding party and everyone is so comfortable around him. 3. He's a true professional, very punctual, polite and accommodating. 4. Allen has a photography style unlike anyone else. He captured the romanticism of the day, he captured my crazy family and friends in their true raw form and he got fantastic candid shots. I love the posed pictures of course but there's something so lovely about the perfect candid shots. 5. We also did an engagement session with him and that was such a great session. For him and my now husband it was a great icebreaking time and we got to understand how he works. Great as a "practice round" before the wedding. 6. He travels onsite to do photographs wherever you want! Cons: 1. I can't throw my wedding a second time to enjoy it all over again but I do get to re-live it through Allen's amazing photographs. Oh wait, does that count as a con? Guess not ;)

Having Allen photograph our wedding day was the breathe of fresh air we needed that day! He makes everything feel so natural and captures every moment beautifully. He is extremely organized and has all of the photos in separate categories - such as "Wedding Party", "Cake Cutting", etc. I found this to be very helpful when looking for a particular photo and our guests enjoyed it too because they could more easily find themselves. When our package arrived with the prints and USB, it came in a beautiful heirloom box! I was actually looking for something like this to store my treasured items from our big day. It's perfect! All in all, I have to say, Allen was one of the best decisions we made!

Allen is awesome!!! I was stressed to the max planning our wedding in Vegas and worried about finding a photographer that would capture our special day. If you want a professional talented photographer, Allen is the one for you. He shot our engagement photos and wedding day photos. We are definitely awkward, camera shy people, but he made us feel so comfortable. Allen has great attention to detail and has an eye for creativity. He gets booked very quickly so book him fast if you know he's the one.

Allen did photos for our multi cultural (Indian-Lao) wedding which comprised of multiple events over two days. He is very talented, creative and humble person. We had numerous of great shots from our wedding events, and trash the dress session. All our friends and family members were in awe once they saw the photos, because each photo was to perfection, and each shot told us something about the wedding, and the entire album gave us memory of life time. Eery photo was perfect in terms of lighting, effects, and looks so natural. I had met Allen when he photographed my best friend's wedding a couple of years ago and knew that when I got engaged I would consider him as one of my options for a photographer. I knew that I wanted my wedding photos to be perfect, and after seeing his work for my best friend, I knew he would be perfect, and he was. He was the only photographer that we met with and we hired him almost instantly. His studio is perfect for couples coming to meet him and he has so many amazing examples of his work that you cannot help but just be memorized. We met as many times as I wanted to and each time he answered every question without hesitation or frustration, as I knew I had to have asked the same question multiple times. The day of our wedding arrived and Allen was there on time and didn't stop taking photos the entire time we had him around. He captured some of the most beautiful, sentimental, unexpected, and fun images that I have ever seen from a wedding photographer and I couldn't be more grateful to him for the photos that we now have for the rest of our lives! I was refereed to Allen Tsai from one of my bridesmaids. I went and met with Allen in his studio in Uptown Dallas days later. Allen Tsai shot our engagement photos and wedding day photos about 3 months ago. From the moment we met Allen (we interviewed 3 photographers), we knew we would feel comfortable having him take our photos. Photography is one of my hobbies and one of the most important things for me was that my bride and I would feel comfortable with our photographer, so that the photos would not look posed or awkward. Allen has great attention to detail (down to making sure there were no random bulges in your pockets...no, not that bulge... I'm talking about keys, cell phones, and etc. that may make photos look funny) Allen has an eye for creativity, and captured everything perfectly! Everything was happening so fast during the wedding day, but thankfully Allen captured so many great moments. Also, we had an outdoor wedding in September and it was a very hot day. We were worried we would all look very sweaty and hot in our photos, but everything turned out perfect! We didn't have a wedding planner and Allen helped us out along the way with his years of experience and pointed us to vendors as we need them as well! As we went through our wedding photos, it was like we're reliving our wedding day again!

Allen went above and beyond to make every session (engagement, bridal, and wedding day) for us wonderful. He was flexible and patient (since weddings can be a little stressful!) and the pictures we now have to remember it all are beautiful. We could not have asked for more and cannot wait to use him again in the future!

Finding a good wedding photographer was one of our top priorities when planning our May wedding in Los Angeles,CA. We first found Allen Tsai on Yelp, actually, because that is always the first place I look online when I need reviews on a vendor. After reading so many five star reviews that the other brides had written about Allen on The Knot, we knew we had to meet him in person and book him immediately! ( He is VERY popular in Dallas....LOL) Since my husband and I have just moved from Los Angeles to Dallas months before our wedding, we really wanted to find a wedding photographer who is professional and has a fun personality. We are very lucky that Allen not only does destination wedding but also speaks our native language (mandarin). It just makes everything so much easier and less stressful! We also booked Allen for our engagement photo session in Dallas and that's when we really got to know his personality and the way he shoots. This is very important, I think, since your wedding photographer will be taking pictures on your wedding day and you want to be absolutely relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera when he/she is capturing those special moments. Allen is a very talented photographer. When we saw some of his portfolios, we were just amazed at how the characters and colors just "pop" in those pictures and the lighting makes everything so beautiful. He is always responsive and extremely flexible. My husband and I absolutely love his work. We highly recommend hiring Allen Tsai as your wedding photographer. AMAZING WORK!

We couldn't thank Allen enough. We were referred to Allen by another friend of ours who is also a photographer. She loved his work and sent me his site and was very convincing on all the reasons we should pick Allen for our big day. We met him at his office and he showed us his portfolios of past weddings. My then fiancé wasn't sure at first cause of the price but after a few minutes of glancing at the album and talking to Allen, we were sold!!! I knew going into a wedding that I wanted my pictures to come out perfect and nothing but the best! Didn't care how much it cost as long as they told the story for my day! Our engagement session couldn't be more fun! My fiancé is not a picture person but Allen got him to pose, smile, and we got many amazing shots! As for wedding photos, I'm sure they are going to be just as amazing... our sneak peeks were awesome! Allen's personality, professionalism, and friendliness are things that every bride should consider when picking their photographer! The days leading up to the wedding, I was nervous because I didn't want to miss any special moments, and the day of... Where do I start? I have all amazing things to say about my wedding photographer, Allen Tsai. He was recommended to me by a friend, and after checking out his website, I decided to meet with him. He was so cordial and personable, and I knew those were desirable qualities to have in a photographer. Learning that he has a Ph.D. in neuroscience but is a wedding photographer really made an impression on me - it told me that he absolutely LOVES his work and is living his dream...which was a very good sign that he would do a fabulous job. Plus, it was helpful getting a personal recommendation. After our meeting I was still checking out other photographers, but I kept coming back to Allen. After seeing photos from a wedding in September that he shot at my church, and talking with him about pricing, the deal was sealed - we were DEFINITELY going with Allen!! (My husband was deployed to Afghanistan at the time, so he did not meet Allen until our wedding day but trusted my judgment.) We did a bridal portrait shoot at the Meyerson Symphony, and I'm glad we did that because I was very tense in front of the camera at first. He had never shot at the Meyerson before but the photos are fabulous and he knew how to get me in the moment. Our wedding day was Monday, April 7th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in McKinney, followed by our reception at The Bingham House. Allen did everything right: he was on time and professional, he got beautiful formal portraits of me and my family where everyone's eyes were open (this is a problem with my family, having closed eyes), he captured the little moments so naturally, and I even had family members commenting on how detail-oriented Allen was, yet was able to stay out of the way as well. While he was photographing our rings outside in the courtyard, my brothers and friends decided they wanted to do a choreographed Bavarian folk dance (which I didn't know was going to happen, and so neither did Allen). But all at once, he was there inside again, snapping away with his camera. My husband and I didn't do a send-off, and at the very end when almost everyone had left, I realized that I'd forgotten to get a formal picture with my childhood friend who had sung at the ceremony! Allen had already put away his equipment, but graciously took it out again to snap a couple photos of us. When my husband and I looked at our gallery, my cheeks were sore afterwards because of smiling so much. I couldn't have asked for more beautiful wedding photos!!! Pictures really are the only material thing you bring back from the wedding, and every penny we paid Allen was totally worth it and then some. I encourage other brides to NOT skimp on this area - and, to choose Allen Tsai Photography! He even travels all over the world, so you do not have to be in the north Texas area to use his services. Again, I can't say enough good things, and we are so thankful to Allen for being part of our special day and for putting those memories into physical reality. PRICELESS!!! :)

We initially hired Allen Tsai to take photos during our wedding, but we ended up doing our engagement photos with him as well (and we're glad for it!). He has an excellent eye for lighting to capture beautiful, photojournalistic pictures of you and your partner. My husband and I were awkward at first in front of the lens, but Allen's directions as well as his patience helped to make the portraits look great! Also, he's pretty funny and easy-going, which helped to take the pressure off of our shoulders to look good (because we were actually having fun and the photos are evidence for this fact)! On the day of the wedding, because of our previous experience with him during our engagement shoot, I didn't worry if he would miss "must have" shots, candid or posed/formal. We are so happy with our experience in working with Allen, and we would recommend him to anyone who is considering him to be their photographer.

Allen was the perfect photographer for our event. He listened to what we wanted and had great suggestions. We had a very small wedding in a private home, which is a real challenge to shoot. Allen knew how to get the most out of the space and we have wonderful photos. We couldn't have had a better photographer (and a really nice guy!)

Allen did an amazing job throughout the whole process of Bridals and the Wedding day. He's super creative, took a ton of iconic photos and we joke that there are too many good ones to choose from. Allen did a perfect job in capturing our day. Highly recommended!!!

Allen Tsai never ceases to amaze me. I've seen his photography portfolio years before I actually had the opportunity to work with him and always enjoyed his photos-- I FINALLY had a chance to personally book him for a large Awards Gala event that I hosted this past December 2012 as well as a Conference in September 2013-- he was actually my first choice pick! Allen is a professional, and has a gift of capturing the memories that you want to preserve for a lifetime. I really appreciate the photo previews that he sends over to us (which is within a couple of HOURS of the event ending!) and love the ease of accessing the full photos from Allen's online album. I recommend Allen Tsai for any of my friends' events or wedding needs, and cannot WAIT for the day to use him as my own wedding photographer. Allen is spectacular to work with and is GREAT at what he does. He just launched Verbana Films for videography and I hope to get to personally work with him for a video project soon! We had Allen for our engagements, bridal portraits, and the wedding! He was always encouraging us to just be ourselves, he made us so comfortable. All of our sessions had traditional pictures as well as creative, artsy shots, and our favorite were the candid shots we didn't even know he was taking! He was professional through the whole process, always on time, and always in a good mood. He was great getting me high res images for my save the dates and thank you cards almost immediately after the shoot so I could get cards made! That was awesome. Everyone loved Allen! I would recommend him so any of my friends.
