This was our second visit to Aloft downtown Wilmington and we absolutely love this place so much that we extended our stay an extra night. The staff was super helpful setting that up. It's close to everything you could need but also quiet enoug...
h to relax. The friendly and helpful staff make it even more enjoyable. In addition, there is a beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the river with a great selection. The decor is fun and modern and there are convenient quick breakfast options. We were able to explore downtown restaurants and shops by foot both during the day and at night. We enjoyed the cotton exchange, rooster and crow, Yosake sushi, the peppered cupcake, distillery and the dead crow comedy club. The one thing I do dislike is the fact that you have to pay for self parking or choose valet but I see that's pretty typical of many downtown hotels and honestly worth the convenience of being downtown.

The rooftop bar is great. The room was clean, but the air quality was awful. Additionally, we ran out of shampoo on the first day. I asked for a refill, which we received. The second day, we ran out of shower gel. I asked for a refil...
l and didn't get it. Annoying.
Front desk staff and valet staff were very friendly. Catering staff was also extremely friendly.

wer from the bed without even trying, and the toilet has a sliding door with gaps in it so not sound proof. That aside, the location is nice for walking around downtown and on the river walk. Parking is hard to come by, but you can easily park in the garages couple blocks away. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean aside from it being a little weird.

very sticky (maybe humidity was very high in the room). When calling the front desk, they always put people on hold for like 5 minutes or so. Frequently, there's nobody at the front desk for 20+ minutes (no one picked up the phone calling from the room, no one answered the call at front desk, no one is at the lobby area). I had to physically went to rooftop to tell the bartender (as the only staff I can find) to make a actual complaint that nobody is at the front desk for over 30 min. Staff could be more friendly in terms of service. I was hoping to book rooms for future dates and they just told me they were busy and have me call the Marriott corporate numbers (which took forever to talk to a representative). Parking is very limited and the garage is not on the property so it's a walk and climbing stairs to get to the car. No housekeeping unless it's 3 nights or more.

I've been to many hotels in my life, due to the nature of my work. This place is right up there with the worst. The location and staff were fantastic, but the actual room and parking is terrible. The room i stayed in was abysmally small and dam...
p. It was difficult to sleep because my sheets felt wet. I could see the condensation on the tile floor. I was on vacation while my partner was working, so I was stuck in the room for more time than I would've liked. Even alone the room felt ridiculously small. Our reservation stated a king size bed and we received a room with a queen. The furniture was geared towards looking modern rather than being functional. The "nightstand" was a piece of metal screwed to the wall. There were no chairs. I do not recommend Aloft, and I do not think I'd return even if someone else was footing the bill.
