I wanted a fae-inspired wedding so Alpine Parks and Gardens was simply perfect. Beautiful scenery and lovely photo areas. Barry was very accommodating and gave us great recommendations. We had him cater and it was affordable and the food was great. The only down side is that there's no AC but I didn't mind. (some of my guests did) I thought it was a great value and I'm more than happy with the experience.
We got married at Alpine Park and Garden on September 30, 2017, we had a “beauty and the beast” themed wedding. Alpine has ample space and is completely breath taking it takes the out doors of the country and mixes it with the flare of the city. We had several children and seasoned guest everyone had a great time. We had both our wedding and reception at Alpine which allowed us to have more pictures due to not having any travel time between venues. Our photographer had a blast with all the unique signs, benches, arch ways and statues our wedding pictures are very creative. Barry is so laid back and accommodative we were going to have the 2017 remake of the beauty and the beast movie playing during the reception and my husband forgot to bring our blueray player the day of our wedding, not to worry Barry had one crisis averted. We got the beverage and food packages the food was delicious (what I ate being the bride) my guest couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was. The in house staff was wonderful, so nice and their attention to detail was amazing my guest said the staff remembered their drink orders all night.
Barry at Alpine Park and Gardens did an incredible job on our wedding on Oct 22, 2017. We live in Colorado, so planning our wedding from afar was a big challenge. We were drawn to Alpine for the beautiful scenery and the all-inclusive nature of Barry's package. He enticed us with his promise of good down-home cooking and gorgeous jade plants, and he was willing to work with us to put together exactly what we were wanting. As one reviewer mentioned, there are a couple of things that might make an extremely organized bride initially nervous. Yes, you won't get all the details in writing up front, and don't expect a final quote more than a few weeks out. As a type-A person, I have to admit that Barry's laid-back attitude also made me a little nervous, but I needn't have worried. Although the price he quoted us was a bit higher than I'd expected (fitting us into one of the predetermined packages), he threw in the liquor, which made it all a wash. More importantly, he is a true professional and pulled the event together seamlessly on the big day. He made it all appear effortless, but I know that the end product was the result of his 25 years of experience with weddings. The day was great from beginning to end. The bridal room was beautiful and included a lighted makeup station, private bar, and a giant mirror that was great for pictures. My bridesmaids all commented on how cute it was. Barry was flexible on setup, and by the time I arrived on site, the tables were dressed and everything looked beautiful. (Another reviewer mentioned the grounds appearing unkempt when you come out on a random day when there are no events, but she is right--Barry's people get it all looking nice for your big day. It's not some perfectly manicured country club, but that is so not the vibe he is going for. "Country elegance" or "natural and rustic" are good descriptors for what Alpine has to offer.) His price per head on food was significantly lower than any Columbia caterer, and the brisket, turkey, and sides were seriously the best wedding food I have ever eaten. It actually rained on our wedding day, but we were able to find a window for the outdoor ceremony, and Barry kept everyone comfortable with space heaters and curtains in the pavilion. He put out a lovely coffee/hot chocolate bar and even soup and grilled cheese for a snack to keep everyone feeling toasty. We never even asked him to put out the soup -- he just did it. We had a couple of older family members at our wedding who can't sit for long periods of time in folding chairs, and Barry set out a recliner and rocking chair from his own home with blankets to keep them comfortable before and during the reception. The kids at our wedding had a blast running around the venue, and even the adults enjoyed feeding the fish in the koi pond. Everybody kept saying how unique and beautiful the park was. Justin, the DJ, was fun and easy, and it was a relief to have him take charge of the reception schedule so we could just enjoy. All in all, I can't even imagine how the day could have been better. I'm just so happy that we decided to have our wedding in the most beautiful place in Missouri.
This venue is AMAZING!!! Our wedding was the best day of our lives, and Barry and his beautiful venue had a lot to do with it! Barry is very flexible, and provides different levels of amenities, from bare bones just the venue essentially, to him taking care of EVERYTHING! We went middle of the road, with him doing the food and catering. Working with Barry and his wife was a pleasure, and he is full of enthusiasm as you hammer out the details of your big day. The physical space is absolutely gorgeous, with plenty of room for groups of guests to break off and enjoy the venue. I would definitely recommend his firework show. We kept it a surprise to our guests, and they were absolutely blown away as Barry provided a professional grade show above his Japanese garden and koi pond. Definitely let your photographer know ahead of time, and you should get some amazing pictures to cherish forever. His pavilion was great for the dinner and reception, and provided plenty of room for our almost 100 guests to dance and socialize. Though we didn't need it, the pavilion is great as it provides a place for the ceremony if it rains. We had a beautiful day, so the outdoor alter was lush and full of greenery. We enjoyed everything about this venue, and would definitely recommend it!
Barry is absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. He went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. The venue is gorgeous, the food is incredible, and I could not have pictured a better venue to get married at. Highly recommend Alpine Park and Gardens to anyone looking for the best outdoor venue around.
Barry and the staff at Alpine pulled out all the stops. The venue was beautiful! He accommodated us in every possible way. Barry put on an amazing fireworks show that was better than any 4th of July. I would highly, highly recommend Alpine for any couple wanting an outside, eclectic wedding.
We had our wedding here in October. I loved everything except a few minor details. The flowers were not still alive. One of our friends brought fresh flowers for the ceremony. Also, we brough our own liquor, but they transfered them into smaller bottles so I think some "got lost" in the return. All and all, I would still choose Alpine if I was going to get married again.
We had a wonderful wedding & reception at Alpine!
Barry and his staff were super easy to work with, and it's a huge bonus that we could bring in our own catering, alcohol - everything, if we wanted. The park is a bit pricey compared to some other local venues, but we saved a ton of money by having a family friend provide the catering and not having to pay catering prices for a bar. Or, they will do it *all* for you if you choose to go that route.
This venue is not for the super anal bride who needs to have every detail in writing weeks ahead of time. I'm pretty easygoing, but even I was a bit concerned when, for example, we still hadn't worked out the floorplan 2 days before the event, and we didn't have the final pricing breakdown until about a week out. This disorganization is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 - there were some unnecessary worries in the last few weeks.
But I needn't have worried - everything turned out great, and anything that wasn't going according to plan was fixed immediately. Barry really wants everything to be perfect, and went out of his way to make it happen! We had a wonderful time, our guests had a blast, and he even surprised us with a fantastic fireworks display at the end of the night.
Like another reviewer noted, the park can appear a bit unkempt at times, but they really put it together for the events. And they are constantly making improvements! Our wedding was really beautiful (see my bio for photos, coming soon!) and now that it's all said and done, I wouldn't have changed venues for anything.
I just went to Alpine Park for the first time this fall. I heard it was beautiful and wonderful (which it is) but I was a little bit confused why the landscaping wasn't more manicured. I felt with it being fall, there should have been a lot more mums, marigolds etc... to fill the beds. Instead, the flower beds by the ceremony bench seating were full of leaves. It was natural, but it could have been more perfect. Just my opinion however, you will have to see for yourself before you pay $350/hr for the venue.
