Altana worked with me every step of the way from idea to my custom wedding band. She helped create a very special wedding band design that nods to a family heirloom. She has meticulous attention to detail and made sure the wedding band fit what I was looking for. It also helps that she is incredibly sweet and easy to work with.

Altana came through in such an incredible way for me this past year. I cannot even express... My girlfriend and I were at the place in our relationship where I was ready to propose to her, and I wanted it to be special. Altana not only was able to take that simple concept, and help me to bring to reality better than I had imagined, but she did it on the timeframe that I needed it by. She took time to discuss everything with me, drew up multiple prototype options for my choosing, and was able to add some special touches that brought my idea to life better than I had hoped. What's more, the fact that she brought it to fruition in only a handful of weeks blew me away. It was honestly one of the most professional experiences I have had getting anything custom like this accomplished. After an unfortunately horrible experience with my poorly crafted & constantly breaking original engagement ring, I brought the piece to Altana and she rebuilt it and redesigned it with me. I was in awe of her ability to take all the things I loved/didn’t love about it, respect the initial design, and put her stamp of quality and artistry on it. I am so in love with the ring I have now and it feels so sturdy and solid. Her artistry ran free when we asked her to build my wedding band to compliment it. We came to Altana with very unclear ideas of what we might want for our wedding bands. She was super patient and guided us with so much care and attention. She has a ton of jewelry experience and helped us understand the ins and outs of metals and gemstones. I went to several jewelers before finding Altana. While they were all fine it felt more like a "pick from our menu" type of experience and I had so many questions and wasn't sure what I was looking for. I came to Altana with a very rough idea of what my fiancée would like in engagement ring, but had zero knowledge about stones, jewelry, or even what the process of acquiring an engagement ring looks like. I wanted to do a custom ring that was unique and felt like something I had a part in making. Altana was amazing - she sat down with me and we talked about all the options on the table - types of metal, types of stones, size, style, cost. Throughout it, she was patient, enthusiastic, and always happy to explain or walk me through options. From there, she provided updates via phone calls and emails on the progress to show sketches, 3D models, and thoughts on what to do next. I popped by the shop from time to time to see things in person. By the end, she had created a phenomenal ring with a wholly custom band that I got to see evolve every step of the way. Any notes or thoughts I had in the creation process were things she took to heart and integrated into the final design incredibly well. The process, excitement, price, and final product were all better than I could have hoped for. I don't have any plans to get another engagement ring any time soon, but if I did, I'd happily be back and working with Altana to do it. (Also, the area around her shop is really nice if you need to kill time and grab food or shop! I made a day of it each time I came by to see progress on the ring.)

When my partner and I decided to get engaged, we went to a number of local jewelry stores to check out potential rings, and weren't finding anything that we really loved. My fiancé worked with Altana to create my engagement ring. She patiently walked him through the process, and managed to marry together all of the different ideas he brought to the table into something truly beautiful, romantic, timeless, and unique. She is transparent, raises the bar on industry and environmental ethics, and is so sweet, personable, and talented. I am so grateful for her work and ability to have made this a positive experience for my fiancé, and create a gorgeous ring I will cherish forever.

I worked with Altana back in 2018 for an engagement ring design. My girlfriend (at the time) and I had been shopping around for an engagement ring and had been pretty disappointed with the overall experience (pushy salespeople, every setting and stone looked the same, etc.) until we met Altana. My soon-to-be fiancé clicked with her immediately, and after we left her shop, I followed up with Altana and spent the next 6 months designing an engagement ring with her. The piece came out perfectly, and shortly thereafter my fiancé and I worked with her on our wedding bands, which are also beautiful. She is a very talented artist, and is incredibly perceptive, thoughtful, and easy to work with. Her intuition is spot on and we are both grateful for the opportunity to have worked with her.

Altana created my custom engagement ring, wedding band, and band for my husband. The process of working with her was collaborative - she listened to us, and brought her expertise in at crucial moments to advise us in the right direction. All of our jewelry is gorgeous, but especially my engagement ring - it’s simple, timeless, elegant, and yet unique - I’ve never seen another one like it. The incredible attention to detail and finish, her guidance in selecting the stone - everything came together perfectly. The ring feels so right for me and I still admire it every day after 3 years of happily wearing it. I get stopped all the time by people admiring my ring and we’ve sent friends to Altana for jewelry over the last several years. Several months ago I was wearing the ring when working with some tools and I did damage to the band. Altana fixed it for me in under a week and it’s like new again. We wouldnt hesitate to work with her on another investment piece when the time is right. She’s talented and lovely!

My husband originally found her to make our engagement ring, all I told him is that I didn't want a diamond ring so I wasn't quite sure what he would get. Altana Marie is not only incredibly gifted as an artist she is a pure joy to meet. My husband and I had a large cocktail ring that I inherited from my grandmother and we had it redesigned into a wedding ring with a recommended jewelry. The gentlemen while being very nice was not a good listener and I ended up with a ring that would better suit a man in the mafia. In fact Altana and I dubbed the ring 'The Mob' ring. I hated it. I took another ring into Altana to be resized and was immediately entranced with her lovely personality and amazed by her portfolio. It was painful to spend yet more money to redo this ring again but this time I was so excited and Altana took so much time with me determining what I liked and the various ways in which we could create a new and stunning ring together. Not only do I have a beautiful, conversation worthy ring but the process of working with Altana was a phenomenal experience. Both my husband and I enjoyed every minute we spent with her and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new forever wedding ring.

WOW - I can't believe how lucky my fiancé and I were to find Altana. Walking down Piedmont Ave with our dog we stumbled across her new shop. I was feeling really frustrated and let down as our first attempt at a custom engagement ring was a total FLOP. The jeweler took his own interpretation on the design that we presented him and, without consultation, gave us a finished piece we were very unhappy with. Walking into Altana's shop she was immediately so warm and friendly! I told her the story of our flop, showed her the disappointing ring. She validated our experience saying unfortunately it was one she has seen happen many times. She explained her process over going step by step over every detail with her clients and showed us some of her previous designs. We were instantly hooked! Altana ended up creating the engagement ring of my dreams! She completely restored my faith in the process and I could not be any more satisfied. She truly captured our essence in ring form. Working with Altana was a DREAM! Earlier this year, my fiancé and I started discussing an engagement, and I had an idea of what I was looking for in a ring. However, I hadn't seen the style I wanted done in a way I completely loved. I happened upon Altana's Instagram one day and saw that she was based in the Bay Area (where we live). She graciously invited us to her shop to talk details. When my fiancé and I met Altana, we just knew she was the perfect person to take on our custom engagement ring endeavor. SHE IS AMAZING. She helped guide us through the entire design process, answering our questions and making us feel so sure about each decision throughout. I feel like I have to mention that Altana is not only a skilled jeweler, but she is also a lovely human – she is flexible, patient, caring, understanding, and I knew we would be in good hands. We put our complete faith in her, and my ring came out UNBELIEVABLY stunning. It is so unique and more than I could have ever dreamed. I look at my finger and still get butterflies. Altana went above and beyond, exceeding all of our expectations, and we will be returning for wedding bands and more.

Altana is the BEST! I cannot give a more effusive review. My husband (then boyfriend) worked with her to create a custom engagement ring for me. We visited her together the first time, and she took my measurements and we chatted about various styles and things I liked and didn't like. From there, she took it away with my husband and the end result is the most beautiful piece of jewelry I've ever owned. We found Altana while walking around Piedmont and after meeting her, we knew she’d be our go to person for our wedding jewelry and so much more. Altana beautifully created my eternity wedding band, and so so much better than I imagined. My fiancé also had altana make a custom black obsidian ring for me for our tenth anniversary. Her care for clients and the pieces she makes are absolutely the best. Altana’s creativity and willingness to work with your vision make her the perfect person to go to. Altana will be our lifetime jeweler, creating our most prized pieces, because we trust her so much and because her work speaks for itself.

Altana in my guardian Angel! I came to her after a serious mishap with another jeweler, and she immediately took me under her wing. She worked extremely quickly and got my project done in time for my wedding. I brought in my engagement ring set, my late mother’s wedding ring + 10-year anniversary bands (which had been soldered together), and a diamond/sapphire ring from my grandparents. Altana separated my mother’s bands and added diamonds to create a gorgeous wedding band that matched my engagement set ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY, while also creating a stunning diamond/sapphire stack for my right hand to be my “something blue” for my upcoming wedding. Wedding planning in 2020 has been a doozy, and after everything that went wrong, Altana is what went right!!! Her work is absolutely exquisite. The ring stacks turned out better than I ever could have dreamed. It is EXACTLY what I wanted and more. I can’t stop looking at my hands and smiling. Altana is a truly wonderful human being and somebody absolutely worth doing business with. I trust her deeply and I will be a lifelong client. I cannot recommend her enough!
