Alterations by Toni

I bought my wedding dress online and it arrived a couple weeks before my mom passed away. I had to prioritize my mom’s celebration of life and handling the estate and did not try my dress on until 5 weeks before my wedding. I called Alterations by Toni and spoke to Mojdeh Tavalali who graciously scheduled a fitting for me on her day off. She was so kind and told me that she would prioritize altering my dress so it would be finished in time for the wedding. I had my second fitting about 10 days later and the dress was ready for pick up 10 days before my wedding. They did a phenomenal job and I was treated with the highest level of customer service! I highly recommend Alterations by Toni for high quality work!

Alterations by Toni were so accommodating and wonderful to work with. I had a detailed gown and they were meticulous in their alternations and changes to the dress. Their work on the bustle was a feat of engineering that didn't fall the entire night.

Alterations by Toni did a nice job with my dress. While they are probably on the pricier side, I had a lot of customization I wanted done to my dress, so I wanted to go with a place that had great online reviews and a good reputation. I had 3 fittings, and they made sure to fix the tiniest of details at my request until it was perfect. Just be sure to try it on and give it a complete look over before you leave with it! There were some small things here and there that would change from fitting to fitting and needed tweaked.

A little pricey for what you get, and my bustle didn't stay the whole night and kept falling off while I was dancing. I had to bring my dress back for a minor adjustment after the final pickup, but otherwise decent work.

The Alterations by Toni team work magic! I brought it my very fitted wedding dress and they were able to make it fit perfectly! The bustle of a piece of art that was easy to implement and stayed the whole night. After rescheduling my wedding due to COVID, the team was able to make the adjustments again in time for my wedding. I was very happy with the work they did on my wedding dress!

I can’t say enough good things about the kind ladies at Alterations by Toni. The women who worked on my wedding dress were so nice, and the work they did was fantastic. Hemmed my dress, added breast cups, a “modesty panel” in my very deep v-neck dress (using fabric from the hemming), added a bustle…all of the work they did was phenomenal. And they held onto my dress and kept it safe during the pandemic since my wedding was delayed a year. Easy to schedule multiple fittings. Worth every penny! I’ll be returning to have other dresses and things altered.

Do not be afraid Toni may have retired but there are a lot of other very nice and professional and amazing women that still work there and do a great job, and have been doing a great job for many years now. I came here at the recommendation of Sandra at bridal and formal. I am impressed. My dress weighed 11 pounds of satin and the nice lady there was able to make it perfect for my wedding. She took in the shoulders a little, hemmed it, re-sewed on most of the appliqués so it looked perfect, and made a 16 loop bustle. The bustle was easy to figure out for my bridesmaids and didn’t take long. It held in place all night and I definitely didn’t hesitate with my dancing. I twirled the entire time and also we did a lift at the end of the first dance. We took photos on top of a parking garage in what felt like 30 mph winds and my dress had no issues. I would highly recommend going to alterations by toni. The price was well worth it for how my dress turned out. The women there were so nice and interested in me and in my wedding. Highly recommend the “press pick up” The woman also was very nice inside the store and let my friend come along to one of the appointments with her two babies. She even gave them each a candy cane. I am impressed by the work they did on my dress. She did a ball gown bustle *"

What a pleasure it was to work with the ladies at Alterations by Toni for our wedding. They were professional, responsive, and clearly skilled in their trade. My wedding dress was received in the wrong size. They were able to reduce it to a truly custom fit and add features I wouldn’t have considered previously. Our alterations were by Cathy and she did an excellent job on our daughter’s wedding dress. Cathy is amazing!!! She adjusted the shoulders, made a ballroom bustle that was incredible, and hemmed the many layers of fabric. We couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you so much Cathy.

I'm so glad that I utilized Alterations by Toni for my wedding gown. The dress was altered perfectly and Toni was an absolute pleasure to work with. They were also able to make last minute alterations to my maid of honor's dress - turned around in less than three days - and did a fantastic job.

Toni did a great job altering my wedding dress! It was much too large when I brought it in the first time, and she was able to take it in enough for it to fit perfectly. Toni was so sweet and fun to work with and she even steamed the dress and veil for me before the wedding. Toni did an amazing job on my wedding dress. She made it everything I hoped for and I could not be happier with her work. She really is the best. I would suggest that any bride use her for their wedding gown alterations. She will not disappoint!

Unfortunately, I did not have the 5 star experience that other brides have experienced. I was referred to Toni by Amanda's Hyde Park Bridal and a handful of my friends, so I felt that I was in great hands. Our initial appointment went great. We agreed upon alterations and I thought I was in good hands. Unfortunately, when I returned I knew something was wrong. I explained to Toni that I felt like my dress was altered incorrectly and her response was "perhaps, I will talk to the girl who did it." Never once an apology during any of my 4 appointments with her and asked if I would still pay for altering the hem and the bustle. Actually made me feel like I was the crazy one since I had to bring up the incorrect alterations. I am sure Toni does great work based on the reviews, but I would have never gone here knowing that someone else would be altering my dress. Hopefully no bride has the same as experience here that I did because what was supposed to be an exciting time for me was nothing but a stress filled, anxiety ridden handful of appointments and a dress I'm left with that I still don't feel 100% confident with.

Toni is a talented professional and I’m sure my alterations experience would have been great even in more normal circumstances, but ends up that - the morning of my first fitting, three months before my wedding - I found out I was pregnant! Toni was the best. All I wanted was to be able to still wear the dress I fell in love with. Toni not only ensured that, but did it so well that no one could even tell we’d altered the dress. I’ll always be grateful!

If I could give Toni more than 5 stars, I would! Absolutely AMAZING. Originally I took my dress somewhere else and was very unhappy with my bustle and the way the dress fit. Toni promptly replied to my (semi-panicked) email only two weeks before my wedding and was able to squeeze me in for an appt the next day. My mom and I were amazed as she went to work and the transformation we could see in the dress and how it fit already as she was pinning it. We nervously awaited the cost (as we had already paid full amount to the other seamstress) .... it was less than half of what we paid the other person (!) & this was for removing the old bustle, adding a new one, and completely redoing the entire sides of my mermaid dress (so that it stayed up like a strapless dress should - yay!!) I would HIGHLY recommend Alterations by Toni! Sending all of my friends and family there no questions :)

My experience with Toni was wonderful! She is very sweet and very good at what she does! My dress had a lot of lace on it and she had to shorten the dress quite a bit. The lace was replaced perfectly! My only advice to any bride is to make sure someone is there to learn how to properly bustle your train. My MOH was there for one session and was shown how to do it but by the time the reception came around, she wasn't able to get it right. It was bustled, but not the way it should have been. That is not Toni's fault, just a piece of advice! I would recommend Toni to anyone and everyone!

Toni was fantastic. She spent time with me discussing what I needed altered and her work was beautiful. I had some additional lace added to my dress and it looks like it was part of the original design. Her staff was so sweet when I picked up my dress and helped me make sure everything was perfect for my big day.

Toni was wonderful to work with and professional - knows what she is doing which when it comes to wedding dresses and altering I was stressing out not knowing if it was even possible with the beaded straps and amount the top needed to be taken in and still fit right. She made me feel very confident about what needed to be done and was wonderful for the 2nd and what turns out to be the final fitting because it was perfect! i would recommend to anyone that is looking for alterations and not sure where to start - she is all you need.

I can’t thank Toni enough for my wedding dress alterations! My dress was a floor sample, so it needed a lot of work in terms of resizing and replacing some missing beadwork. I loved meeting with Toni and going in for my fittings - they were the first time I actually felt like a bride! My dress fit so perfectly, and I couldn’t have been happier with the end result. Toni’s work and her attention to detail are stunning. She made the whole process so easy and efficient and made the dress of my dreams a reality!

Toni is so great to work with. She has a down-to-earth personality and was one of my favorite parts of the alteration process. It took 3-4 alterations to complete my dress and I was absolutely pleased with her & her team's work. My dress was beautiful because of Toni's attention to detail. Their prices are a bit steep but I can promise that they are worth it for tricky alterations; especially on wedding dresses. 10/10 recommend

Toni was incredibly kind and helped me understand the entire process. I was nervous about the stomach portion of my dress being see through and she easily added some fabric and it looked even more amazing! The process was easy and painless and I will be going back for all my future needs!

Toni knows modern bridal style and was extremely open and honest. I bought a dress in two sizes online and brought them both in for my "fitting." She strongly suggested I keep the smaller size and not have adjustments done to the bigger size. I really respected her opinion and honesty. She did sew in cups and a bustle.

I purchased my dress at a sample sale and it was about 4 sizes too big. The dress turned out perfect. I live in Chicago but ended up having my alterations done in Cincinnati and am so happy I did. Toni was flexible with scheduling the alterations so being an out of towner was not an issue. The prices were super reasonable and significantly less than what I would have spent in Chicago. Toni was so nice to work with and did an amazing job. I was nervous about the dress as it was so big, but Toni worked her magic and everything was perfect! I really enjoyed working with Toni. We ended up sending my dress to be cleaned and preserved through Toni and I am excited to see how it turns out!

This is my favorite place to go when I need alterations, so I was very happy they were able to alter my wedding dress! They worked very quickly and did a beautiful job on my dress. They were incredibly professional and flexible when it came time to schedule appointments.

Toni did an incredible job with helping alter my Hayley Paige gown. I was nervous because up until the week of wedding the straps to my dress were still not sitting right. Toni decided we should redo the straps entirely and wow did she do an incredible job. I’m not sure how she got this done for me so quickly, but the straps looked better than they had originally when I purchased the dress. I am so glad I trusted Toni with my grandmother's wedding dress. She did a fantastic job altering it to fit me perfectly while still keeping the original character of the dress. We had originally planned to meet 3 times for fittings but we ended up doing 5 because she was so committed to getting it perfect. I also wanted a few last minute changes like a new zipper and she was so accommodating. She also custom made me a veil that matched the vintage lace dress perfectly. I have to say too that the alterations were really reasonably priced. If you have a vintage dress, or really any dress this is the place to go.

Toni was so patient and wonderful to work with! I was nervous about the fit of my dress because after the first try on after getting it from the dress shop it was very low cut, but Toni suggested things to make me feel comfortable and make sure the dress still looked elegant. She was very kind to show my mom and bridesmaid how to bustle the dress and was very easy to work with! She also steamed my dress and veil so all looked good day of! After my first meeting with her, I especially knew I didn't need to stress about anything and she would do great things! On the day of my wedding, I felt so beautiful and confident in my dress! My wedding dress alterations went better than I could have ever imagined. I was nervous finding the right place because of all the horror stories I’ve heard. Toni is so delightful, sweet, and she really knows her stuff. She would place pins in the dress while I had it on so she knew where it needed to be sewn to. She always made sure I was happy with what it looked like and how it fit before she would sew that change. If something didn’t look right she would let me know and show me ways of how to fix it. After the 2nd fitting she told me to bring someone with me the next time to show them how to do the bustle. She let me mom video tape her doing it so she could bustle my train the night of the wedding. She made sure my dress was pressed when I picked it up the final time and even offered to press my veil. After trying it on the final time she looked at the hook and eye and said she wanted to change it out to something stronger. It didn’t break, but since I had a strapless dress and it was heavy she wanted to make sure there was no chance of it breaking that whole day. She even had me bring a bed sheet to wrap it around the dress when I left to keep it clean but so it wouldn’t get wrinkled. She thought of everything and there isn’t anything I would have changed about my dress. I was so happy with it all! Her prices are very reasonable which was nice being on a strict budget.
