I used Alterations Inc. after my sister recommended them from her wedding
a few years ago. The women were knowledgeable about taking in the bodice of my dress and I was happy with the suggestions they made of taking specific
areas of my dress... in. However, when it came to hemming and my bustle I was
not pleased. On the first date I went to pick my dress up we looked at my
hem and it was cut unevenly (with a 2in difference from the right versus
left side of my dress). They were reluctant to take a second look and
re-hem my dress (telling me it was not uneven despite the fact that my mom
& I could both see the difference after analyzing the hem more closely),
but after my insistence I was happy with the second round of hemming and
they admitted there was a difference in the hem length. My bustle however
was my most disappointing alteration- it was a 3 point bustle and looked
nice. However on my wedding day, the first time I sat in my dress to take
photos (no scooting or anything just simply sat down) my entire bustle
button popped right off my dress! Thankfully we had a needle and thread on hand and were able to sew the button back on. I'm definitely disappointed
in the quality of the materials and work on my bustle and was not happy to
have to use our own sewing skills to fix the problem!
