- Brent CramptonCompany FounderHi, I’m the company founder and former House of Loom club owner. I used to live a pretty wild DJ life. I’ve played in clubs from NYC to London and Mexico. Red Bull got me into some crazy situations. The Omaha Entertainment Awards gave me the “Best DJ” award 3 times, and The Reader named me a top Omaha artist. I’m now a full-time disco daddy that takes occasional wedding gigs to fund the diaper mill. When I started this thing, I didn’t know how many “alternative wedding” couples there’d be. Turns out a lot. And if you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them. I get more requests than my family-man schedule allows. So to meet demand, I carefully recruited DJs that fit the vibe. I respect & adore these people. Read on for why I think you’ll like them as much as I do (and what I’m secretly envious of in each of them).
- Elliott "Ness" HarrisWisconsin FounderI’m Elliott — founding DJ of Alternative Wedding DJs in the Milwaukee–Madison corridor. I started DJing radio shows right out of high school, studied at Arizona’s Conservatory of Recording Arts, and worked at LA’s legendary Can Am Studios (where Dr. Dre recorded). Back in the Midwest, I produced stages, booked DJs, and built a rep throwing rooftop parties and hotel lounge events in Omaha — plus, I got really good at weddings. Now I’m Director of Entertainment for Harmonic Hospitality Group in Madison, booking talent at Roxxy and The Stuffed Olive. Launching AWDJ here was a natural next step. Out of the dozens of DJs I work with, I’ve handpicked the ones you’ll meet here — balancing club skills with wedding finesse.

- Chalis BristolDeejayaka DJ Crabrangucci Besides having the best DJ name (checks notes …) ever, Chalis is also one of Omaha’s most sought-after DJs. Her first gig was at my club. But these days, now that I don’t DJ full-time, I noticed she gets all the cool gigs I used to get. (No, I don’t have FOMO — you do!). She’s a staple at Omaha Fashion Week, The Sydney, and the LGBTQIA-friendly Revel pop-up series. I think of her like the go-to for parties with eclectic, indie crowds. That’s why she’s also won Best DJ from the Omaha Entertainment Awards. Even before she was a DJ, I noticed she had a gift for picking really good music. I’m envious of how well she does it.
- Jackie ChavezDeejayaka DJ Jak_E. As a Latina, she’s our go-to bilingual DJ. She’s pioneering coffee shop pop-up parties in Omaha and loves playing music for couples “in-between cultures.” She’s a gentle soul with fierce dancefloor rhythms.
- Jasko VlajcicDeejayaka DJ Yascoe. We have Yascoe booked about every other weekend. He’s one of our hardest working DJs. And based on my convo’s with him, I know he’s genuinely driven by making a crowd happy with his music selections. He’s also a Bushwacker resident DJ, so he knows his way around country music.
- Kyree BrooksDeejayaka DJ Ree Maniac. Based in Madison, he has an infectious energy and a big smile that people just love to be around. Musically, he’s probably one of our most versatile DJs, jumping into everything from Hip Hop & RNB over to country and Latin. He wins over the crowd and ensures all the event logistics are running smoothly.
- Erin & Spence MunsonDeejaysaka Spencelove & Riche Niche Yes, they are a married couple that DJs together. Two for the price of one 😂! Spencer is also an Omaha Entertainment Awards Best DJ winner. He was the guy behind the legendary GUNK parties, got Diplo to play a rooftop gig that I regrettably missed, and still produces festivals like Lincoln Calling & Jazz In June. Every city has one of those culture taste-maker DJs, and for Lincoln, Spence is it. Erin is a former Director of Education & Community Engagement at Lied Center for Performing Arts. She learned to have a nice finesse on the mic from that role. But she’s also a wonderful DJ, as per her residency at NE’s oldest Queer bar. I envy the infectiously fun chemistry they have together.
- Julian GrossDeejayRecording artist and open-format DJ who’s played at standout venues like Saint Kate Arts Hotel, Il Cervo Rooftop, and events across the U.S. He brings the soul of a storyteller to every set — blending real emotion, impeccable taste, and dance-floor energy. He’s a true artist who knows how to make a wedding feel unforgettable. Based in Madison, WI.
- KeatonDeejayaka DJ Fly Cuts. Keaton is a super nice guy that is our most technically skilled DJ. He’s a true turntablist and open-format DJ who can juggle and scratch with the best of them. He also knows when to restrain and let the music ride. You can often find him doing gigs on O Street in downtown Lincoln.
- Nick FitchDeejayaka DJ Nick the Quick. Our other go-to DJ for country-leaning weddings. Nick is also one of our most-booked DJs. You can often find him at top 40 clubs in Lincoln when he’s not gigging for us.

We met with Brent early on to discuss details and what not. We let him know what we wanted and didn't want, songs/genres we like and didn't like, etc. He did his due diligence before, rather than just showing up and following a standard script. He really tailored it to us.
We were able to make a shared playlist on Spotify of the music and songs we wanted to hear and to give him an idea of where to take the night.
This was not your "hit play for the cha cha slide and sit back" type of DJ or night. DJ Brent was having FUN while actually DJ'ing and mixing songs for us based off the playlist and the crowd.
Beyond the main part of getting everyone up and dancing and feeling good, he also delivered on song queues for the ceremony, and really helped regulate the night by guiding the guests and providing clear instructions for everyone when it came to dinner, toasts, dances, etc.

DJ Angie Spence played our wedding like a bell. She spun records throughout a life-threatening thunderstorm at our mostly-outdoor wedding venue. I don't know how she did it, but she played *with* the rain. She laid down what that crowd needed to give themselves permission to dance in the rain, transforming the weather from a disaster into an asset. We got wet and wild.
DJ Riche Niche (Erin Poor) played a private party for me and some friends. The music was so good that random hot strangers came in from the street to party with us. 5 years later people are still telling me how much they enjoyed themselves and danced their asses off.

And most importantly, what we didn't want it to look like. We are seriously still getting compliments from people of all ages about our dj almost a year later. Most, literally most, saying that it was the best wedding dj they have ever seen. I cannot thank Brent enough for providing such an incredible service and Neal (aka werdisbond) for working with us and absolutely nailing his set at the reception and the ceremony as well. Not only were they affordable, Brent showed up with time to test all the sound equipment before jumping on, mixed all his own music through the night, and brought fun light ups to dance with. We seriously could not have asked for a better DJ.

After a lot of searching, we came across Alternative Wedding DJs and loved their bios, especially DJ Ness’. We asked if he had any upcoming shows so that we could check out his style. DJ Ness responded back and let us know he had a show at the Green Room in downtown Omaha. We checked him out and about 2 songs in, knew that he was the one for us. DJ Ness mixed songs, took requests, and everyone had an absolute BLAST! He set the tone for the night, and we got so many compliments for his talent and his amazing MC voice. We had a couple that told us they were leaving, and DJ Ness started to play one of their favorite songs. That couple ended up staying the rest of the night because how much fun they were having! Even during the planning stages of our wedding, DJ Ness was so easy going and helpful. We had sent him a few last-minute song requests that he was able to work in on short notice. Overall, a fantastic experience and we could not imagine working with anyone else! I highly recommend DJ Ness and if I were to have any event coming up, I would hire DJ Ness again in a heartbeat!

we wanted, and also added some mixing effects which helped keep the dance floor rocking. He had an appropriate amount of interaction, making announcements as needed, and one thing that was awesome was he had a way to get all of our guests out on the dance floor at the same time to start the party! He even helped last minute to organize our guests to make a tunnel for us to run through during our introduction. He had excellent equipment and a disco ball which was a great addition. Overall we were very happy with our experience. His pricing is very fair and competitive compared with some other DJ companies. He let my husband “karaoke” and it really made our day. Thanks again Brent!!!

our people. The dance floor was full from the start of the reception to the finish, so many people came up afterwards talking to my now wife and I about how much fun they had breaking it down.
The team was really good about taking our song recommendations and putting together a set list with mixes that had everyone dancing, even if they knew the song or not. We also worked with them on our ceremony and reception speeches for sound and everything went so smooth! Definitely cannot recommend enough.

We were very appreciative of Alternative Wedding DJs helping out with introductions, announcements, sound during our ceremony/dinner, and other tasks since we didn’t have them playing music until after dinner.
Alternative Wedding DJs are experts in their field. They are exactly what you want when looking for a DJ because they listen, understand what you're looking for, and execute it better than you could have hoped for. Alternative Wedding DJs has great tricks to get everyone on the dance floor and was able to read the crowd to keep all generations dancing and having a fantastic time! Our family and friends had only positive compliments about our DJ and music (which was our DJ’s playlist). Our wedding couldn’t have been any better and the music choices made for a great atmosphere! We would hire Alternative Wedding DJs again and highly recommend them to anyone, anytime!

itory later on in the night. He accepted numerous song requests and was extremely accommodating. He also set up all his equipment even though it was storming outside our reception tent. Whatever your preferences are music wise for your wedding you can be assured that Brent can meet your requests. Would 100% recommend Brent to anyone considering hiring a DJ for their wedding or any other event.

We had a vintage 30's...
inspired wedding on New Year's Eve. We got the perfect blend electro-swing and modern classics to keep the party going. They even figured out our New Year's countdown for us. At the end, we even got to keep the final mix!
The whole process was simple. We met up and talked about our vision for the reception. We sent them a couple of Spotify playlists based on what we thought we might like to hear. They took care of the rest.
5/5 stars - Could not recommend more.

rnative bride, I wasn't interested in the standard wedding set up so finding them was a great fit. We chose to have a small wedding at a restaurant so our ceremony, dinner/speeches and dancing were all in different spaces. They accommodated each area really well, we could hear vows, speeches and music clear and crisp as all times. I loved working with them on the music list, if there is one thing about weddings I'm not a fan of, it's the standard music lists other DJ's push out. Alternative Wedding DJ's embraced us as a couple and really made it our own. We shared a huge list of music we love, I wanted a fresh unique list, and they created the playlist based on that direction. I had friends at the reception asking about songs they had not heard before and just loved! Our wedding day vibe was everything I had hoped it to be, thanks to Alternative Wedding DJ's!

The day of the wedding was where he really stood out, the music was exactly what we wished for, and he handled all the announcements, transitions, and information for the guests very expertly and professionally. Most importantly, he was flexible and easy to work with when we needed it most. There were some logistical issues that delayed the serving of the food, and he was able to help adjust our schedule and make sure the rest of the night went off without a hitch. Five stars, the best wedding dj I've seen in action, I emphatically recommend working with him!
