Amanda Stearns, Dance Instructor

Amanda is a fantastic dance instructor. She made us feel so comfortable and worked with us to come up with a dance for our wedding that made sense for us and that we loved. She has a great sense of humor, too! Would recommend her to anyone interested in learning to dance for any reason.

We reached out to Amanda just over a month out from our wedding (so a little last minute). She was really responsive and very accommodating to create a schedule so we could create a first dance. We have no dance experience and she gave a lot of options to fit our comfort and personalities. She was never offended if we said we didn't like a move or idea. She genuinely spent 100% of our lesson time trying to make sure we were learning our dance and comfortable with everything that we were trying to do. At our last session, she reminded us that if we mess up our dance, no one is going to know but us.... which was reassuring when we got overwhelmed in the middle on the day of and missed our cue. :P Our videographer said that our dip at the end of the dance was the best he had captured on film. We definitely thank Amanda for going over it with us repeatedly until we really felt comfortable. If you're debating over booking with her, I would really recommend it!

Amanda is the BEST you’ll find when it comes to helping a couple with zero wedding dance experience. My wife and I went from not even knowing the basic first step to being able to do turns, pace of dance and an incredible finishing move that neither of us could imagine we would ever be able to do. Amanda is so patient with beginners and she really puts in the effort to make sure you are getting every single step perfect. She will show you how to do things as many times as you want, and even dance with you herself so you get the full feel of what it should feel like. The best part about Amanda is that she listens to the aspects of your dance that you want to work on, and then she will put all her focus towards that until you feel that it is perfect. She walks you through step by step every aspect of a wedding dance, never rushes you to move on to something else and I truly believe that she genuinely enjoys seeing her students with their final product. Amanda is kind, caring, listens and will go out of her way to make sure you are getting the best instruction possible. Please don’t make this mistake of using anyone else but Amanda, she’s the best you will find.

Amanda worked with my husband and I to come up with a fun and elegant first dance for our wedding. We both had some prior dance experience, so the focus was really on making the moves look crisp and smooth. We enjoyed both our lessons and will certainly use Amanda again should we ever need/want to learn a new dance!

My husband and I took dance lessons with Amanda this past summer for our first dance at our wedding on November 2. Both of us didn’t have much confidence in dancing, but Amanda helped us learn a dance that went perfectly with our song. She was extremely patient and a great teacher! My husband and I really wanted to take dance lessons to feel confident during our first dance. We reached out to Amanda a little less than two months out from our wedding and we immediately got started. Neither of us had any prior dancing experience and Amanda helped us learn simple moves that we began to build on over the 5 sessions we had. We felt so confident on the dance floor and had so much fun learning from her each week. The best part is, we now aren't afraid to hit the dance floor when a slow song comes on at other weddings. Amanda's dance lessons were worth every penny!

Amanda was a fantastic dance instructor! She choreographed a Viennese Waltz for the father-daughter dance tailored for our skill level. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and gauges your comfort level with such ease. She taught my Dad and me the basics, demonstrating when we needed to see something again and offering great suggestions to add more style to the dance. She was very flexible with the timing of the lessons and encouraging as she saw the progress we made in such a short time. All the wedding guests really enjoyed watching the father-daughter dance and were super impressed.

Amanda is a great dance instructor! My husband and I needed a few dance lessons for our First Dance, and neither of us had taken any before. Amanda was always very pleasant and patient, and her approach helped us to keep trying instead of getting frustrated when we messed up. We gained so much confidence and had a lot of fun on the dance floor during our reception! Hire Amanda and you will look like rockstars!!

Amanda is the best! My husband had tried lessons in the past and failed miserably. NOBODY had been able to teach him to feel comfortable dancing. Amanda was able to break dances down and explain them in a way that we both could master in a very short period of time! She is a genius teacher! Very kind and encoraginging, too. AMAZING! Amanda was the best combination of a dance instructor! She is super talented and quick with putting steps together. Yet is also laid back and truly wants the couples style to show in their performance. My fiance and I loved working with her. Our first dance amazed our guests! They were surprised to hear that we only had 6 lessons with Amanda. Highly recommend her for all levels of dance experience!

Amanda was super helpful since my very first contact with her; trying to set up surprise lessons for my fiance so we could wow our wedding guests during our first dance. She helped me pick the right number of sessions, was accommodating to meet at a location that was best for me and gave her advice for a good start date. My fiance and I were both nervous for our first session, however Amanda was very professional while also helping us to feel at ease. She listened to our first dance song and recommended two different styles of dance. We tried moves for both and eventually went with one that felt like the best fit. Amanda started with the basics and then helped us graduate to more intricate moves. Every session built upon the last and in the end we were so very pleased with our first dance! We couldn't have done it without Amanda's patience, guidance and expertise. Highly recommend.

Amanda was super patient teaching my Grandfather and I how to preform a beautiful dance for my wedding. We were both very new to dancing and nervous about dancing in front of a lot of people, but she broke every step down for us so it was easy to understand. She made the lessons fun and interesting. Amanda has been so helpful! We were complete non-dancers hoping not to look foolish on our wedding day. We had picked a fast song for our first dance, so the stand-and-sway was not going to cut it. Amanda worked with us and our comfort level to design a routine that we felt confident doing. She's very patient, very kind, and very helpful. I truly cannot recommend her highly enough! Five stars is not nearly enough! Amanda is absolutely wonderful and a joy to work with. My fiancé and I had always wanted to take dance lessons for fun, and began taking swing classes with her a few months before our wedding at a local studio. These were a blast, and we have continued attending to this day. However, as our wedding approached, we asked her if we could take some private ballroom classes, since we had never done so before and didn’t want to just stand on the dance floor, rocking back and forth. She went above and beyond to help us choreograph a routine to the song we chose for a first dance, and the final result was fantastic! We really appreciate all of Amanda's efforts to make our wedding dance something truly special and unique. She made it so enjoyable and fun, and didn't get upset with us when we kept messing up. In all, the wedding was a wonderful day, and we couldn’t be happier. People are still complementing us on how awesome our first dance was, and we have even been able to do some ballroom dancing at other weddings that we have attended since. Amanda definitely goes above and beyond, is incredibly professional, and an overall cool person. We were so lucky to have found out about her and would whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone looking for either private or group lessons. You won’t be disappointed!

Amanda is a great instructor to work with for both beginners and trained dancers alike. No matter your skill level and dance knowledge, she does a fantastic job of making sure her lessons align with your dance goals and does so by teaching steps in a way that is clear and understandable. She is a go-to instructor for any variety of needs: from an engaged couple who is interested in having a one-time wedding dance routine, to a married couple interested in learning more moves, or in my own case, a more advanced couple looking into more serious dance competition. Super approachable and professional, she is wonderful to work with - I highly recommend!

My fiancee and I started taking lessons with Amanda from a total beginners perspective - i.e., no experience and no sense of balance or grace. Amanda is a miracle worker!!! Our wedding dance will be spectacular! And the best part is we are both not only in love with each other - we are in love with dancing!

My fiance and I wanted to learn a few dance moves in order to look like we "knew something" and weren't just swaying out on the dance floor for our first dance. We also had picked a song that we LOVED but just weren't sure how to dance to. Amanda really, really helped us figure out what we were going to do and how to not look like a mess on our wedding day! We signed up for five lessons with her and spaced them out within the two months leading up to the wedding. This was definitely the way to go for us! Amanda introduced us to steps we didn't know before and really helped us figure out what we were doing on the dance floor. Also, it never seemed to fail that on a dance lesson night we had some major wedding stress happen... BUT Amanda helped us navigate through it and it wound up that our dance lessons were actually some of the most enjoyable things about planning a wedding! Amanda is so patient and really worked with us so that we were able to pull off a great dance. We got so many compliments on it and it was easy to remember in the stress of a wedding. Amanda is so positive and constructive and it was super fun to work with her! Dance lessons aren't something I foresaw in my future but we definitely want to work with her again!
