Nestled in the charming seaside town of Harwich Port, MA, American Stems is a boutique floral design studio where blooms get the royal treatment—and every petal has a purpose. We specialize in bespoke wedding design and floral artistry, but really, we’re just out here living our best flower-filled lives.
Our founder and head designer, Kelsey Harris, launched AS in 2018 after spending time on a specialty cut flower farm in central Massachusetts. With her hands in the dirt and her heart in full bloom, Kelsey discovered her superpower: transforming nature’s finest into floral magic.
Our design style? Think warm, wild, and wonderfully unexpected. Our designs are all about sparking conversations, creating soulful moments, and reminding you to stop and smell the roses—or at least admire the ranunculus!
We’re proud to source from local farmers, embrace nature’s bounty, and design with an intentional, "why-not-throw-in-one-more" variety. From Cape Cod to The Islands and beyond, Kelsey and her talented team are ready to bring your floral dreams to life, one lovingly placed petal at a time.

I was so happy to see how everything came together on our special day. If I had any questions, I knew I did not have to worry about anything because of how responsive Kelsey was. Not only does Kelsey have an amazing eye for floral design but as my own wedding planner, I really appreciated how thoughtful and detail oriented she was when discussing my vision with her. Even on the first call which was about 2 years before our wedding date, Kelsey was actively listening to me and asking questions to get a strong sense of what I liked and disliked to make sure I was comfortable with all elements of the design. I ended up changing my color theme multiple times (and definitely too close to my wedding date) and Kelsey was able to pivot so graciously. She was also responsive in helping us decide what plates and linens would go best with the florals which was such a big help since we didn’t have a planner. At the wedding, guests kept commenting on how amazing the flowers were and my photographer also said how much she loved them. I can’t thank Kelsey and her team enough and wish I could have another wedding just to book them again!

I didn't have a specific idea for my flowers or décor other than wanting a few colors and an organic/ beachy aesthetic, and she exceeded all expectations. The ceremony flowers were breathtaking and seeing them for the first time as I walked down the aisle was one of the highlights of my day. My bouquet could not have been more beautiful, and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were stunning and so unique. Our reception was in the ballroom at Ocean Edge, and I totally relied on Kelsey’s expertise to help soften the space. In addition to our flowers, Kelsey also designed the tablescapes. The garden inspired floral arrangements combined with candles, driftwood and shells transformed the room from a corporate ballroom to a cozy, beachside dinner party setting. She also came up with the idea to use oyster shell candles – which I loved and surprised us with a beautiful arrangement in front of the band stand! Truly went above and beyond. I received so many compliments on the florals and tables. Kelsey is super responsive, easy to chat with and run ideas by, cognizant of budget and SO talented. We are so grateful for American Stems - highly recommend!!!

I really know nothing about flowers and didn't have a specific preference, but Kelsey asked a lot of questions about my vision and color scheme and was able to take creative control over the florals. Second to the venue, this is where we spent the most money and it was WORTH it. She put together a proposal packet with visuals which was really helpful when planning. The day of the wedding, I was absolutely stunned by the beauty of it all. We infused lots of greenery and muted pinks and yellows to contrast the blue/green floor. We also opted for smaller bud vases for a cozy & more casual feel. She provided flowers for my naked cake as well. In speaking with her, she told me a bit about her sustainable practices and I really love that nothing goes to waste! Kelsey is truly talented and incredible, I would highly recommend her!

She personally hand crafted center pieces for our guest tables & accent pieces for the welcome & desert tables, along with bouquets, boutonnieres & personals for our VERY large wedding party & special guests. Every piece was unique, while maintaining consistent with the overall vision. Kelsey beautifully wrapped our birch arbor with flowing linen & a sprawling collection of my favorite flowers & lined our aisle with low, wild arrangements that literally looked like they were growing right out of the ground! My bouquet was so beautiful, free & special - she even took care of my moms secret request & attached 3 small lockets to my bouquet containing photos of my mom & grandmothers on their wedding days. It was such a sweet surprise - I have my bouquet dried & hanging in my office - I smile every time I see it!
