I hired him 2 years ago for an engagement shoot. His photos are OK in quality but his packages are way overpriced. Other photographers in the area charge only a fraction of the cost and deliver all digital prints and better quality. If I remember correctly, I spent around 1000 dollars and received maybe 10 prints and a wedding book. I didn't find him to be particularly enjoyable to communicate with, like many of the others here. I was not called for a free session.
Amin was a pleasure to work with. He captured my engagement pictures and wedding video just as I wanted. He has awesome communication and took a lot of stress off. Great experience!
Very professional! He was very detail oriented and I love how much you can see he truly loves what he does! I was nervous that our warf wasn’t the best place for photos but he had the time of his life filming on it and even had ideas we didn’t think of! He made sure to get everything we wanted filmed at the reception as well! Very very nice too! I’d definitely recommend him to anyone! Cannot wait to see our video! :)
I am so impressed by Amin Russell’s work!! I am so pleased and happy with everything! His work is impeccable and I recommend him to everyone!!
Very professional and awesome to work with
I WISH I had seen these reviews BEFORE I agreed to anything with Amin Russell and his Photography company!!!
If you can help it, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO BUSINESS WITH AMIN RUSSEL PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!!!! I don't want to say that he's a scammer, because no money was exchanged between us, BUT HE DOES NOT TELL THE TRUTH and acts as if you misunderstood him. He lies like a carpet!!!! I would NEVER suggest his business to anyone. It just isn't wort the hassle!! Stay away from him. If they call you and tell you that you have won a free engagement session, tell them you'd rather pay to have that done with someone else because I have learned that everything that's free is not good.
I am sure that I have to give one star, but honestly my experience is not worth the time it takes to click one star!!!
Finally getting around to writing all of my wedding reviews. Like a couple other people have said: he's a SCAM artist.
First he calls and says you've won a free shoot (I've seen other businesses do this as a way of sharing their work/spreading their name) and that you'll just have to pay for the prints. I was fine with this, so we used him as opposed to our wedding photographer for our engagement shoot.
The shoot went well and he was nice and professional throughout that. He then set up a zoom meeting for us to go over the images and choose what to purchase. Zoom meeting was set for 6 PM and we pushed it back a bit because he was running late, perfectly fine.
At around 6:30 we started the process of reviewing 200+ images, giving simple 'yes' or 'no's. After an hour of that, he asks us to choose from his packages. I stated that I only wanted to purchase the digital images as I don't hang up portraits in my house and don't have use for the books/prints/etc. He informs me the digital prints ONLY come with his most expensive package ($1200) that also includes giant canvas and acrylic portraits, a book, and an app. I didn't want any of that and asked if I could add the digital images to a smaller package (to be clear I expected to pay at least a couple hundred dollars for the digitals) and he tells me it's not possible. Essentially, the only way to have anything more than physical prints of a handful of your engagement pictures is to spent $1200.
I told him I'd need time to think about what pictures I wanted and where I could put such large prints before I picked the pictures and he told me I had 1 hour to decide because he "goes to bed early" and the deal would be expiring that night. NEVER mentioned this before.
I had to choose between completely re-taking pictures in the Louisiana summer or coughing up $1200 for pictures that I didn't even love. It took a lot of moving schedules around to even do the first shoot, so we decided just to pay for the biggest package and we could give all of the stuff away to parents, grandparents etc. I was nice via communication for fear that if I wasn't he wouldn't give me the pictures at all.
After MONTHS when he was finally ready to deliver the products, he told me I'd have to drive to the northshore to get them or pay $100 to have them shipped to me because all of the random stuff no one wants weighed so much.
All of the dumb extras (huge, thick acrylic print, huge canvas print, book, app, "Amin Russell Photography" flash drive) sit unused in my storage room. DO NOT book with this man.
Unprofessional is the nicest way to put this. A complete scam artist. He has poor communication skills. He doesn’t answer phone calls or emails. He doesn’t like for you to answer questions. He will take your photos and have you pay for them and the quit. He thinks he can talk to you any kind of way and not show you an oz of respect. When you confront him is little ego gets hurt like a child.
At the end of the day I am a strong believer in you never know what someone is going through, but to be a business owner with such nasty ways and be so unprofessional is top tier crap. After winning a contest photoshoot with him, I would tell no one to enter his contest or hire him. After taking the photos, he then sends you the photos packages and tells you, you have one hour to view your photos and till midnight to order any or the price goes up. He tries to intimidate and force clients into buying from him and making quick decisions. But God is good and things happen for a reason! Brides, Grooms, and couples don’t get scammed and disrespected by this photographer take my advice and find someone else. Before getting scammed and disrespected.
Because of people like him this is why black people don’t support black businesses. He is a prime example of a flaky scam artist.
Amin was fun and professional to work with. He has great ideas and still allows time for anything extra. Most importantly the photos came out beautiful!
We booked Amin through Classic Photographers and so happy he is partnered with their company! Our wedding was a destination and Amin made it so easy for us. He made us feel so comfortable from the moment we met him and immediately we knew we were in good hands. Our photos came out great! They really captured New Orleans. We can't thank him enough!!
We won our photography through Classic Photographers and Amin was our photographer. He arrived on time and got right to work. He has a fantastic eye and is professional and easy to work with. We got MOST of our photo's but the ones that were taken of us signing our marriage license AND those of the wedding party and parents we do not have. I attempted to contact him regarding this issue but have yet to receive any response. Those pictures are some of the most important to us and we would really love to get them. So for now, I am giving him a three star rating. Should we receive those pictures I will change my review to five stars.
Amin is a wonderful photographer! I can’t express enough how professional he is. He photographed our engagement and wedding pictures and he designed our invitations. Amin is very detailed oriented he takes pictures of EVERYTHING!!!! Lol Amin gave us an amazing experience and we love our pictures.
Amin was hired to take photos for my sister's wedding. He showed up and took photos, but he never delivered those photos. She attempted to contact him about the photos, but eventually he stopped responding. He took her money and never delivered on his promise. To this day, my sister doesn't have one single professional photo from her wedding day. This guy is a thief and a scam. If you want to avoid stress and heartache on your wedding day, avoid this scam-artist and hire a real professional.
In booking Amin Russell, I informed him of what I wanted during our initial phone call, which was nothing more but digital copies to place on our wedding website with "The Knot" and to create save-the-date cards. He initially agreed he would be able to fulfill the request. I asked for pricing up-front, and he only gave us pricing for the session fee of $171, and waited until the pictures were taken, for him to inform us of photo packages pricing, starting at $399, which the items in the photo package could not be altered (aka customized). The packages did not offer what we wanted, which we told him when we first contacted him. He told us while we were in CA to meet in New Orleans in the French Quarter at 6:40 p, only for him to call us on our appointment date at 6:30 p, to tell us we were 20 minutes late. We finally arrived, we started the session. I questioned him, and said "should I have brought my other stuff?" for the second look. He simply replied, "No, because we don't have time for all of your other stuff". I am only guessing he said that because we were late, which was due to the information he provided, while I and my fiance was on the phone with him 3 days before the photo shoot. Oh yes, his significant other was there, and she mentioned they had to pick up her daughter, which made us feel rushed during the process. He sent us an email a few days later to review our pictures through skype so that he could screen share, only to find out the skype platform did work not properly on our phones or computer. He told us we would review our pictures through skype at 2 pm CDT. He never called to check if we had any trouble setting up skype accounts. We called him for our 2 pm appointment, he did not answer, only for him to call my fiance back 3 hours later to say he scheduled someone else for our appointment time at 2p because he did not receive a confirmation from us. Of course we reviewed the email, and it did not mention the word "confirm", so the appointment was rescheduled for 3 days later. In wait for our photo viewing, I found one of the pictures he took of us on his Twitter account, and we had not yet seen the pics. He finally agreed to use a Google's "Hangouts" and use it from his yahoo account, which took a while to get up and running on his end, so he could screen share instead of having a link to review the photos online. We finally review the pictures and he took 40 shots, only for us to narrow it down to 12 good shots of us. Of course we wanted to create our own website with "The Knot", which we told him, and all he was trying to do is get us to purchase his service to build us a website, with him fully aware we found him on "The Knot". The quality of the website was about the same as the "The Knot". After the viewing the pictures by screen sharing, we informed him would call him back in 2 hours, and he made us aware the pricing for picture packages would increase after midnight. After discussing the pictures among ourselves, we call three times within 2 hours, and left a voicemail. We email him within that 2 hours, and asked him just for digital copies, and he did not respond until 8:30 am CDT, meaning the price of the pictures increased. In his email he informed us the digital copies (digital negatives) were are in his Black Label package priced at $1,199, which include a extra stuff we did not even want, such as a 20x30 acrylic. We informed him we would not purchase anything from him. A true waste of time
This is the Most Professional Company I have ever worked with & Very Organized. Would recommend to anyone in a instant.
