I say the Mansion at Strathmore was worth it in the end because they pulled off an absolutely perfect event, but getting there was a bit of a struggle at times. The people we dealt...
with were always very nice, but hard to get a hold of at times, took many days to return emails, not clear about details, and not very flexible about a couple things. But I will say, the space was great for our size wedding (135) and absolutely loved having the terrance (we rented couches and armchairs and coffee tables for out there! Really lovely!!!). As soon as the ceremony was over, a waiter found my husband and me and basically followed us around with a platter of Hors d'oeuvres to make sure we tried some of everything, and as soon as we sat at our table, he came over and said we were not to bother ourselves with the buffet or going to the bar, that he would bring us everything, and he did! I know other people don't, but I ate well at my wedding! We also had somewhat different food requests (read: annoying) in that we wanted stations of food, each with cuisine from a different part of the world, including an African dish Bobotie they had never heard of. They totally worked with us and made exactly what we asked for, mini-pizza station included, and they really nailed the bobotie! In the end, totally worth the bumps along the way. Just be really clear about exactly what you want early on, do nothing last minute, and be ready to pay a pretty penny (they have an in house caterer that you have to use, and that's the really pricey part, BUT they are a great one and do places like the Kennedy Center too, so really high quality).
The music hall was the perfect venue for our wedding. Planning was the only area that had a hiccup. Restaurant Associates, the catering company associated with Strathmore was goi...
ng through a personnel transition and our wedding got a bit mixed up in this. The night of was perfect!
The Strathmore would have been ideal location for our wedding and we liked the interior. However, after finally calling and getting hold of Kristin, and then visiting the place, s...
he wouldn't return any phone calls or emails. I tried and NOTHING. Unlike her, Augie was very responsive, and he would return my calls in less than 24 hours. Given the unprofessionalism we experienced with Krisitin, we felt unwelcomed and decided on another venue.
We had our reception here and so glad we did (100 guests). It was such a great evening. We still get comments months later on the delicious food and the beautiful mansion.

of the reasons why we chose to hold our reception here was because we really liked how the mansion grounds and inside was up-kept (much more so than other venue sites we looked at). Also, Augie seemed great to work with.
I highly recommend this place for a wedding or any other event. It might be a little more pricey than others, but worth it.
The Mansion was exactly what we wanted, something with the feel of a house, but still elegant. It is an art gallery by day, and an old, well-appointed mansion, so it did not reall...
y need much decoration, other than flowers on the tables and some tealights sprinkled around. The house manager, Kristin, was always great to work with, she responded to questions quickly, and kept us updated on the construction going on around (but not on) their property. And, best of all, it was a great value for the type of venue and its location.
The space is wonderful and has all of the modern amenities (new bathrooms A/C and heat manipulable lighting).;The Strathmore makes you use their in-house caterer - Restaurant Ass...
ociates. And Restaurant Associates is very good but it is very expensive...be sure to try to negotiate some things because they will not give any deals and may even try to rip you off on the pricing for liquor.
The food how you did not have to decorate much because it was so beautiful with art hung up everywhere already for you
