Amphora Catering

From beginning to end, working with Amphora Catering (especially Xochitl) was amazing! Our venue recommended Amphora as their preferred caterer, and we had tried Amphora's delicious food on several occasions via other events we had attended at the venue, so we were already somewhat familiar with their product. The food, attention to detail from Xochitl and her team, service, professionalism, and bartending were all well worth the price we paid. We received many compliments from our guests on the food. Xochitl was an absolute pleasure to work with, and she answered every question we had and made us comfortable with all our decisions. We also appreciated her attention to detail and thoughtfulness throughout the whole process.

At our venue, we were given a list of preferred caterers, and I spoke with two others before deciding Amphora - I simply didn't have a good feeling with the other vendors. When I spoke with Xoxhitl, it was a no-brainer. She and the Amphora team were on top of everything - start to finish, and so pleasant to work with! Between the phone calls, meetings, and emails, I always felt like a priority and she was part of the magic that made our wedding day perfect. Our wedding was in the morning, so our reception food was a brunch theme. I highly encourage any couple that's debating times of day/what kinds of food to have....go this route! You can't go wrong with an early afternoon party with bacon, eggs, shrimp and grits, and all the other "brunch" fixins. Ampohora absolutely nailed it!

Amphora Bakery was wonderful to work with and provided a beautiful cake for our wedding. We purchased a tasting platter and enjoyed sampling the different offerings. Then we worked closely with Elicia to discuss the options and figure out exactly what we wanted. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to recreate a wedding cake that a family member (also a baker) designed. We really appreciated the professionalism and quality. We also found the price to be reasonable. Delivery to our venue was flawless. They are pros and did an outstanding job all around!

Amphora made the wedding reception cake for my son and his partner. It was absolutely lovely. The cake was moist and delicious.

We hired Amphora Bakery to make a small cutting cake for our wedding day. We were able to purchase a tasting platter before choosing a flavor, which was great. The flavor we chose was absolutely delicious and much better than a normal cake from a grocery store. The decoration on the cake turned out beautifully and it looked elegant on our wedding day!

We've been working with Amphora Catering (and Amphora Bakery) since 2019 as we selected them for our 2020 wedding. I've truly enjoyed working with Xochitl over these past years. She and her team have extremely patient with us after each reschedule due to the pandemic. She walked my husband and I through the process in 2019 when we selected the different appetizers, entrees, linens, tableware, etc. They are transparent and give you a very detailed contract so you understand what is included in the costs. She made the process easy for us and always had info ready for us whenever we asked questions. Since then, she was always responsive even when she was not in office. I was pleased with her and her staff on the day of our wedding day (finally!) on Friday, May 13th. They really did such a good job taking care of us. She even checked in with us a couple of times during the wedding to make sure we were okay. The food was amazing! We very much appreciate Xochitl as we built a great working relationship with her. I highly recommend Amphora Catering to any couple. If you are looking for a wedding cake too, they also have a bakery!

Amphora catering handle the food at my wedding on 11/07 at bull run winery. Xcohitl & her team did an AMAZING job all my guest were raving about the food especially the braised short rib & chicken waffle app! I would absolutely recommend her & her awesome for any event!!!!

Amphora Catering handled my daughter's wedding (and cocktail hour) on November 6th, at The Winery at Bull Run. It was fabulous! The food was so delicious and the service was impeccable. The sit down dinner was beautifully displayed, enjoyable and very elegant . Xochitl Guiterrez was a top notch event coordinator--professional, experienced, helpful and kind! She even helped out with putting the flowers that my daughter wanted on her cake! The cake was also fabulous and delicious, from Amphora Bakery. Ms. Guiterrez went above and beyond with professionalism and kindness. All our guests and family raved about the delicious food and fun time they had! I had worried, as the mother of the Bride, for so many months, and everything was wonderful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Xochitl and the Amphora crew!!! You 'had our backs' all the way, and we so appreciated your attentiveness. We will definitely engage your services for our next event!

We used Amphora for our son's wedding - we were thrilled with our choice (as we knew we would be!). The cake was gorgeous and delicious - and so were the mini desserts! We ordered enough for folks to take some home as a favor and no one left empty-handed! The cake and desserts were a huge hit with everyone of every age. And Elicia is wonderful - she is attentive, a great listener, on top of everything and super sweet! They made the day even more special for all of us!

If one of the few things people remember about weddings is how good the food was, Amphora will make sure your guests remember your wedding for a long time! Xochitl was incredible at helping us plan our menu - she helped us easily make changes as COVID changed our plans and made sure all the related details were taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and Xochitl made it an easy process! Definitely recommend Amphora!

Amphora Catering was the perfect choice for our wedding! We met with several vendors to sample appetizers and entrees but nothing compared to Amphora. The presentation, quality and taste exceeded our expectations. We worked with Xochitl for our event and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was professional, extremely helpful, returned calls and emails within a timely manner, flexible with my schedule and truly helped make our day special! Her experience with weddings helped guide me with decor decisions and helped my vision come to life. She made sure our special day looked absolutely beautiful and went as smooth as possible. The staff was professional, polite and did an amazing job. Everyone raved about how delicious the food tasted and how elegant the presentation was. I would recommend Xochitl and the Amphora Catering team to everyone!

Xochitl was so helpful through the whole process. Her expertise in all things wedding, not just catering, really helped us get to the big day. She had great communication, was extremely responsive, and gave us confidence that the day would be amazing. On our wedding day, Xochitl did everything she could to make sure the day was delicious and beautiful. The majority of our guests were from out-of-town and had been to many weddings. They ALL raved about the delicious food. Amphora Catering and Xochitl were the absolute best choices for our wedding.

Loved Amphora! I am so glad we decided to go w/ them for our wedding. My husband and I did a cocktail reception with heavy-passed appetizers and stations (rather than a plated dinner), plus late-night snacks and the food was delicious! Got multiple compliments from our guests. Some of our favorites included lollipop lamb chops, fajitas, chicken satay, goat cheese tartlets and mini crab cakes. From helping us formulate a menu to the day of - the whole Amphora team were professionals throughout. I should note that we did multiple tastings with other caterers that were SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive than Amphora - for seemingly the same amount of food. Would highly recommend them - great food for a great value!

We used Amphora for our September wedding. Both the food and service were amazing. We decided to go a "non-traditional" route by making the atmosphere seem like a big party/celebration rather than a sit-down wedding. Amphora helped us pull it off. Our event designer, Xochitl, was phenomenal (definitely ask for her). She helped us design our Brazilian BBQ station and taco bars - which had something for everyone (veggie/GF/etc.). We also had the most gorgeous charcuterie display. The food tasted delicious (we are a family of foodies) and the presentation was outstanding. We would definitely use Xochitl and Amphora again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for A+++ food and top-notch professional service. Thank you again for making our day truly special, fun, and carefree!

Catering is one of the most important choices you'll make for your wedding. You want everything to run smoothly and taste great, right? You will not go wrong with Amphora. Xochitl was such a pleasure to work with and at times felt like the only vendor choice we made that worked out from the very beginning! The room was set up perfectly and our plated dinner went off without a hitch. The cocktail hour food and dinner were both delicious and the staff was as friendly and helpful as could be. As the bride I didn't need to worry one bit about the service that was provided, AND they saved me a plate of appetizers since we were taking photos during the cocktail hour. The other bonus for me is that I cannot eat gluten and they had no issues keeping our menu celiac friendly. Highly recommend them to everyone I know.

We worked with Amphora for our wedding on 25 August. Amphora had the best prices for food a bar package among the caterers we surveyed in the DC area. We were able to set up a tasting quickly due to the fast and detailed correspondence of the Amphora staff. The tasting room was our first clue that we had chosen the right caterer, with its beautiful decorations and displays of what Amphora was capable of. Throughout the planning of our wedding, Amphora staff went above and beyond to help us with our menu and were on site during our venue walk through at Oatlands - the two vendors have a great relationship with each other! During the wedding, Amphora staff made sure we were comfortable and even has staff dedicated to us to ensure we had time to eat during the busy day. Xochitl, our point of contact for the wedding day, was so nice and accommodating and I heard from numerous family members that she made a point to ensure everything was going smoothly. Amphora behaved with such integrity and professionalism, not to mention the food was awesome, that I would recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer - no matter the event type.

We used Amphora Catering for our wedding reception at Brookside Gardens. They were amazing in every way! The food was delicious and the service was great. Xochitl was our main contact from start to finish and she exceeded our expectations in all ways. She's so knowledgeable and experienced that she could anticipate any complications and knew exactly how to put the right touches on everything. We had planned to do an outdoor reception, but the weather didn't cooperate. She helped to make the indoor space beautiful and offered to set up a bonus cocktail area in the atrium that was a great addition and use of the space. She and her staff were also great when it came to set up and take down- they even helped us to unload our cars and packed up all of our leftovers for us. And the most important part- the food was delicious!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience :) Highly recommend Amphora- they take care of you from start to finish and they will make sure your event is a success!

We loved our experience with Amphora, and wholeheartedly recommend them as a wedding caterer. After researching over 30 caterers and reaching out to a handful of them, we knew Amphora was perfect. Our wonderful experience with them started when we met Xochitl for our tasting. After telling her our venue, she hand-drew from memory a possible layout of all the food, chairs, tables, and bars. Immediately we could tell the level of attention and detail she would put into making sure everything was exactly as we wanted for the wedding. She was always prompt, professional, accommodating, and extremely friendly. Working with her was always delightful and made planning much less stressful. She attended the entire reception and looked after everything herself, which was reassuring. The day of everything was perfect, and ran exactly how we expected and hoped for. Now to the food – it was delicious. Over a dozen guests told us during the wedding and over the following days we had the best wedding food they’d ever eaten. Amphora’s tasting experience was great and sold us on choosing them. We tried a wide-range of the dishes and hors d'oeuvres we were considering. We chose the buffet option for dinner and couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and service. Everything was cooked to perfection. They accommodated our request to change the standard set of options, serving an additional main entrée of the butternut squash ravioli. Not only were we impressed with the tastiness of the hors d'oeuvres, but there were plenty served in constant circulation. Xochitl and the rest of the Staff at Amphora, thank you. Our special day was perfect in large part their catering. You will be in great hands with Amphora.

Easily one of the best choices we made in our whole wedding planning saga was to hire Amphora Catering. Xochitl was an absolute rock star. Not only did she cover with the traditional food, table, chair, and china choices, but she helped us figure out exactly how the evening should flow, the best way to flip the room from ceremony to reception, where the buffet should go, etc., even going as far as to send us pictures of other weddings she worked at our venue in the meantime so we could see different options in the space itself. On the food side of things, I can’t count the number of complements we got. Everyone loved the creativity and selection Amphora offered, and the cake balls disappeared in the blink of an eye! The staff working the day-of were equally amazing. They helped set up the space before the ceremony, made us plates so we didn’t forget to eat, guided guests through the buffet line, as a few examples of the many ways their hard work made our wedding perfect. We had the opportunity to work with Xochitl at Amphora and she truly made our wedding magical. She worked so hard to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted it. Many of our guests commented on how awesome the food was. Thanks for everything!

I cannot recommend Amphora enough! They were one of many caterers on our venue's preferred list. They were by far the easiest to work with! Very quick response times, and knowledgeable and professional staff! We had a super small wedding (19 total) and honestly had a hard time with several vendors giving us the time of day. Not the case with Amphora! We had such a fun time at our tasting, picking out our menu with Candace. Our wedding was this past Friday and everything was amazing!! We ran super behind schedule and I was worried about how they would keep our food fresh and tasting good, but they clearly know what they are doing! Their staff at our wedding were great, and everything was just perfect!

I have no hesitation in recommending Amphora Catering. Their food and presentation were delicious and we continue to get so many compliments from our guests...I mean mini chicken&waffle hors d'oeuvres?? amazing. There was a change in the lead catering manager a few weeks prior to my wedding but Amphora promised a seamless transition and delivered, Ali was great to work with and really looked for ways to improve my experience and she accomplished that! While there was a slight hiccup with the wine not immediately being served with dinner, Amphora quickly recovered and got the wine served by the time the entrees came out. From the tasting to the planning meeting to the actual wedding, Amphora was a pleasure to work with and afforded myself and my guests a wonderful experience.

We got married on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Oxon Hill Manor. Amphora catering did a great job catering my wedding. I worked mostly with Marcelo and then Munira closer to the wedding. They consistently were very professional and I never doubted their capabilities. They executed our contract exactly as agreed upon. I received no complaints about their service from my wedding guests. Originally I was going to hire a smaller catering company but realized that I was better off paying more for a full service caterer. I do not regret this decision. Munira quickly adapted to an issue that occurred at the venue (that was of no fault of theirs) and handled the pressure very well. I have much respect for vendors in the wedding business who maintain their professionalism from the moment of first contact through to the end of the wedding. Working with Amphora was a breeze and I wish I chose them originally.

Munira and crew were AWESOME to work with. They were professional and fun. She gave me great suggestions and went above and beyond to make sure that everything went smoothly and my guests were happy. They raved about the food. Will def use them again!

We loved the presentation and the food itself at our wedding. There were no issues with the catering that I was aware of on the day. We did find that the communication when we had questions more than a week before the wedding was below par. I wanted to get a lot of details squared away early, and there were many emails that we never got a response to. I know we were only one of many events to the company, but when you're paying someone over $10,000 for food, I'd expect a little customer service on top of the food itself. Overall, it was fine, but they did cause us some stress leading up to the day.

Amphora catering was by far the most incredible tasting food I ever had at a wedding, and luckily it was mine! By far, I had guests going back for seconds on the Buffet, they couldn't get enough! Amphora work with you from day one, setting up your tasting session, and working with you regarding your numbers all the way up to presenting the food so beautifully and with great taste on your wedding day!~ even ordered box lunches for my bridal team, while doing hair and makeup - gourmet to a tee! We also used their Bakery for the wedding cake! Class act company - they know their job and do it very well! Highly recommend!

Amphora catered our wedding at the Winery at Bull Run in October 2013. The food was truly amazing! Our guests loved the meal and all of the appetizers! We could not have been happier with Amphora Catering. One of the biggest reasons for that was our coordinator, Patricia from Amphora, she is incredible!! She made our entire catering process so simple and she was on top of every detail. She provided guidance and advice to help us make our catering decisions, but always highlighted that our wedding was for us and she was willing to make anything happen. She was incredibly responsive and very engaged in our planning process. Thank you Patricia!

We used Amphora as our caterer for our wedding at the Winery at Bull Run in June. To say that Amphora went above and beyond our expectations would be a vast understatement. Angela and her team were professional, efficient, and easy to work with from the first tasting. They had wonderful suggestions and their primary goal was always to give Lou and I the wedding we wanted. They worked their tails off the day of the wedding in non-ideal conditions, but their staff were highly efficient, professional and also unobtrusive. The food was wonderful! We had a selection of passed and plated appetizers during the cocktail hour. We are still hearing rave reviews from our guests! Amphora also set up a really cute Sangria station in addition to the bar. They also handled making all of the place cards, and all I had to do was provide the names and table assignments. We had a selection of three plated dinners at the reception: beef, chicken, and pasta. All of them were excellent and we couldn't have been happier. Not only was the food wonderful, but they also provided a number of unique touches. For example, they set up citrus water and tea at the outdoor wedding site. This helped keep everyone cool and refreshed while waiting for the ceremony to start. Amphora catering is the primary reason my wedding day was so wonderful and stress-free. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Angela and her staff to anyone who is looking for a caterer.

We were on a tight budget, but Marcelo worked our "light hors d'oeuvre" reception so it was as cheap as we could get. The food, from the little I had (I danced all night lol), tasted amazing, and his tables and tablecloths completely transformed the room. Amphora Catering was just THE best I could have found.

Amphora is one of my favorite restaurants. They are always wonderful.
