Kelly Coughlin
Owner & Sommelier
My story with wine began before I was old enough to drink. I participated in an exchange program in high school and lived with a family in Lyon, France. I have deep memories of the vineyards, the unmarked bottles from friends adorning dinner tables, and the way that wine and the vine wound its way into every aspect of French life.
Fast forward, and my first internship in college was assisting the Wine Director at 2 Michelin-starred, RIA, in Chicago. It was eye opening and intoxicating (pun intended) to say the least. Since then I have pursued wine certifications through the Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as being integrated in the service and wine programs at several Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Chicago and San Francisco.
I sought a slower pace and more nature in moving to Nashville, and landed here as the General Manager and Wine Director at Rolf and Daughters. From there I managed my favorite little wine shop, Woodland Wine Merchant, and opened Frankies as the Beverage Director.
While restaurants will always have my heart, after becoming a mother, it was important to me to invest my time more intentionally. To be present for my daughter and to be able to create truly exceptional wine experiences for others became essential for me.
