Building a Strong Foundation for Marriage
As you prepare for marriage, premarital counseling offers a space to slow down, have meaningful conversations, and build a relationship that can support you through life’s transitions. Amy Jones, LCSW, is a Philadelphia-based couples therapist who helps partners deepen connection, strengthen communication, and approach marriage with clarity and intention.
More About Amy
Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Couples and Family Therapist with advanced training through the Council for Relationships, the University of Pennsylvania, and Eastern University. She is also a certified facilitator of Prepare/Enrich, a gold-standard relationship assessment tool.
For couples considering parenthood, Amy holds a certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. She is also EMDRIA-certified in EMDR (an evidence-based trauma therapy), which can be especially helpful for couples navigating the impact of past or shared experiences.
She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach, helping each partner feel understood while strengthening the relationship as a whole. Amy works with couples to explore their unique story, identify strengths, and build the skills needed to navigate challenges with greater clarity and connection.
What to Expect
Premarital counseling with Amy is a focused, supportive process designed to help you feel more confident and aligned as you enter marriage. Sessions are available virtually across Pennsylvania or in person in Philadelphia.
The process begins with an initial joint session, followed by an online assessment completed by each partner. The next three sessions focus on reviewing your results, offering personalized feedback, and building practical relationship skills.
Through the Prepare/Enrich model, you will:
Explore strengths and areas for growth
Strengthen communication skills
Identify and manage stressors
Navigate conflict more effectively
Develop a more balanced partnership
Better understand personality differences and enhance teamwork
Couples often leave with a deeper understanding of one another, stronger communication tools, and a solid foundation they can continue to build on throughout their marriage.
