Amy Sims Photography

hout ever imposing. We had chosen a small dimly lit venue which could pose a challenge to photography but Amy was able to easily blend in to the party to capture the natural energy of the night. Amy really offered the best combination of professional guidance and results while also feeling like we chose a friend that understood that we also wanted to have fun on our wedding night! The photos we have from our families, ceremony and reception are all gorgeous and we were happy to have Amy as a guest as well.

osed moment. Looking through our photos feels like reliving the day all over again. We now have a true heirloom and memories that will last a lifetime. We couldn’t be more grateful for Amy's talent and care.

onal, energetic, and incredibly accommodating, ensuring we got all the shots we wanted without any stress. Her talent for capturing candid moments was spot-on—she nailed those genuine, heartfelt interactions between guests and us that we'll cherish forever. We also loved our engagement shoot around our neighborhood of NYC. If you're looking for a skilled, reliable photographer who thrives under pressure, Amy is fantastic.

en though everything went smoothly thanks to all of our vendors—it was just a crazy day!). She always seemed to know exactly where to be at the right moment and kept everything moving smoothly. Before the wedding, she also shot our engagement photos and made us feel much more comfortable in front of the camera. She was incredibly accommodating and perceptive, which made the whole experience feel natural and easy. On our wedding day, despite the downpour, she found the perfect opportunity when the rain stopped to whisk us outside for some gorgeous shots around our venue—something I really appreciated. She also did an amazing job wrangling family members for group shots and stayed patient throughout it all. And, to top it off, when my mom had trouble zipping up my dress, Amy was there to help—something I wasn’t expecting but was so grateful for! What stood out to me the most was how, throughout the wedding, I barely even noticed where she was—yet she was always in the perfect spot to capture the moment. The candid shots she took are some of my favorites, and a huge reason why we chose her in the first place. Looking back at the photos, I can’t help but smile every time. Amy truly cares about her craft, and it shows in every photo. She’s a true professional, and we couldn’t have asked for a better photographer!

our special day. Firstly, Amy was extremely communicative and transparent, setting and managing clear expectations for what we should anticipate for both our engagement photos and our wedding day. She is also incredibly prepared – through her intake forms and general questions to us and bride and groom, Amy collected a strong understanding of what we were looking for and how to prioritize our requests. In our pre-wedding interactions, we really felt as if Amy got to know us as a couple and appreciated what made us unique in order to reflect that in our photos. Day of, Amy was a true professional, providing clear advice on how to pose for group shots, especially to our friends and family who were not as comfortable in having their pictures taken, all without being overbearing or off-putting. Amy went above and beyond as a trusted companion by applying her experience and natural instincts to help us relax and enjoy each moment. Through a few stressors pre-ceremony, Amy was a calming presence and I am we were so grateful to have her support throughout the evening. We were so excited to receive our digital album in the months following our wedding as we instantly transported back to the big day. Thank you, Amy!

it to be. Amy is a master at camouflaging into the environment of the day and using that perspective to capture the most special moments that you might otherwise miss. When planning a wedding and coordinating with so many vendors, it is so valuable to have a partner who you not only don't have to stress about, but brings you calm and guidance. You will be so happy with not only your photos but the experience of partnering with Amy for your wedding!

ur wedding day, and the care and love she showed us throughout the entire process were outstanding. Our whole family was blown away by her work and were deeply grateful for her presence on the day. She has a brilliant artistic vision and is also deft in her sensitivity to ensure that you get exactly what you want out of the photographs. I couldn't recommend her enough.

lative to our wedding, and she really took the time to get to know us and our families prior to the wedding. Extremely professional, warm, and easy to work with. The final photos were ready for us faster than planned and were so perfectly beautiful - she even captured little unplanned moments in unexpected, wonderful ways. Very good timing, empathy, and artistry. She was also able to quickly pivot when our original plans were squashed due to rain and traffic! Thank you so much, Amy, for your care and thoughtfulness on our special day.

is great at finding a balance between the traditional (think portraits) and shooting with creativity to find beautiful, artistic moments. Amy was incredibly patient and accommodating with us when we had to postpone multiple times as a result of covid. The understanding and humanity she showed us was greater than any other vendor we worked with and her excitement when we were finally able to celebrate made the day even sweeter! Thank you Amy, you're simply the best!!

She took photos that made our 220-person wedding feel both alive and intimate. We printed photos of our guests and included them in each person’s thank you cards — Amy managed to get photos of so many people! So many of our family and friends told us how Amazing Amy’s photos are. We love that we can relive the day as it happened. Beyond the photos, Amy is an amazing professional and we could not recommend her more highly. Planning a wedding is stressful with lots of things that can go wrong — we were at ease knowing Amy was our photographer. She is extremely personable, organized, communicative, and just always on top of things. The day of the wedding, Amy checked in on us when things got hectic, made sure we got alone time to be together and take everything in, and managed to efficiently wrangle big, wandering crowds for group photos. Amy also checked in with us to make sure we got all the group photos that were on our list before leaving. She is extremely thorough and we are so grateful she was out photographer.

rganized, and most importantly brought a really positive energy. She was so easy to work with from the interview to the wedding day itself, which was really important to us because we were organizing the wedding from Canada. Amy is so experienced and really put us at ease. She was great at getting everyone together for photographs and getting the kids to smile by saying something silly. All of our guests loved her. She also anticipated our needs and just knew the perfect time for a snack or a break. Amy has a great eye for the most beautiful pictures. We knew this from her portfolio but it's really cool to see this in action. She would catch the smallest details, like a water bottle, or a brightly coloured jacket, or people in the background. She scouted the most beautiful locations for us and it was really cool watching her frame the perfect shots. And when we got the pictures back, they really were perfect! Amy's greatest talent is capturing amazing candid moments and people's unique personalities. And because she puts people so at ease, she gets the best photos out of them, even if you're a little camera shy. Amy made our day into something truly extraordinary, and we couldn't be happier with the memories she captured for us!

! She is a total professional and took such amazing photos, and she really understood us as a couple. From the initial video call through her final delivery of our wedding photos she was incredibly responsive, prompt and organized. We did not go into the day feeling like we would be comfortable in front of the camera and that immediately changed as soon as she arrived. We loved her style and are so happy with all of the final photos from our wedding. If we could do it all over again we’d hire her every time!

e hired her, and during that exploratory conversation she seemed to understand our wishes and concerns and gave us confidence we were all on the same page. We could tell she’s experienced—in addition to talented, so evident on her website and in social media posts—and we liked that her photos aren’t overly stylized, instead privileging the people and the moments in front of her. Amy helped us map and pace the photography for our wedding day, relieving us of potential stress. Her camera-side manner while she worked was excellent, both cheerful and assured, including suggesting movements or adjustments that improved the shots. She made us first-time models more comfortable. During the ceremony and dinner, she worked efficiently and without intruding on our, or our guests’, experiences. A number of weeks later, she sent us a polished package of images that we’ll treasure as reminders of our favorite weekend together. Thank you, Amy! -Hicks & Molly

exceptionally compassionate. When she could tell I was stressed when getting ready and running late, she promised me she had nowhere else to be and to not worry. When wrangling big groups of aunts and uncles, she was deftly able to have them shift in place, fix a tie, button a jacket, tuck their hair back, and more, without wasting time. And her communication is just as professional and prompt in the runup as it is on the day itself. We never had any doubts about what Amy would be providing, who would be coming with her, or when she'd be arriving, because she made it extremely clear from the get-go. We loved, loved, loved working with her, and we recommend her to everyone we know. Please, book her!

put us immediately at ease. Her photos are beautifully composed without looking staged or corny like so many other wedding photos I’ve seen. The photos she took of our wedding really captured the emotion and the magic of the day. Thanks to Amy, we have these precious moments with our family and friends documented forever. From start to finish she was such a pleasure to work with. Amy was very responsive and organized. She worked with us to create a timeline for our big day that made sure we got all of the group shots we wanted while still allowing for plenty of spontaneous photos throughout our event. We highly recommend Amy Sims as a wedding photographer for anyone who wants beautiful, personal and unique photos.

d our style beforehand. The photos turned out incredibly and were just what we were looking for, elegant and fun.

what could have been stressful moments very effortless and fun. Every single person who was in our portraits complimented the way she conducted the shoot (one of our friends who is a photographer said she was the most intentional photographer she’s ever seen!) Amy made us, and everyone at our wedding, feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and helped us feel at ease trying different poses and styles that would best reflect our personalities and vibes as a couple. We also received many candid photos that friends took that had Amy smiling in the background - we feel so lucky that we had a photographer who had as much fun on our wedding day as we did! Amy is truly one of a kind and we cannot recommend her enough.

thing, but your photographer is there at such intimate, happy, even sometimes stressful moments! Amy is so good at reading the room, adjusting to your taste, providing just the right amount of support, bringing in her professional advice / eye without being overbearing. You will not regret going with Amy - she is the best.

so at ease at the engagement shoot, telling us when to adjust so we wouldn't look awkward (which was one of our bigger concerns!) and the pictures from our wedding are just perfect! She captured the day so perfectly and ensured she had all the information she needed to get everything we wanted from her services. We are so grateful for everything Amy did to help make our day so special! Thank you!!

n engagement shoot (which by the way, is complimentary) with her in Greenpoint, which really broke the ice with Amy and showed us how she works. There's so much happening during a wedding that can potentially keep you from enjoying it, but Amy was able to capture all of the important moments and some spontaneous ones as well without feeling overbearing or intrusive. She's great at directing awkward family members and has such an eye for color and composition, which was perfect for our tropical-themed wedding. We just got the final images back and everyone in my family is raving about them. Not only did Amy and her wonderful assistant capture everything we asked for, they also managed to showcase the fun and the love at our event. She's fabulous and gets our highest recommendation. Hire her!!

ble with her and in front of the camera. She captured so many amazing moments during our wedding day. She seamlessly integrated the formal shots, like family photos, while also just letting us have fun with each other for the best candid moments. She gave the perfect amount of direction for everything to look put together yet natural. During our reception, she joined us on the dance floor and got some of my favorite moments of the night. She seemed to be everywhere getting every shot, I don’t know how she did it! Leading up to the wedding, she was so easy to work with and organized all our group shots so our wedding day was seamless. I woke up the morning after our wedding to a couple of incredible photos in my inbox and then the day we got back from our honeymoon, she sent us an album of sneak peaks. Cannot recommend Amy enough, you need her to photograph your wedding!

larly excellent at blending in with the events of the day and getting right in the middle of the action to capture candid moments without anyone ever realizing she was there. She can give direction with authority when needed (e.g. organizing family pics) but is never in the way of important moments. Her second photographer at our wedding, Justin, was also a complete delight. They both made us feel comfortable and contributed to the great vibe of our big day. We are incredibly happy with the pictures themselves and would hire Amy again without hesitation!

e Amy and her assistant able to put everyone at ease (no small feat when the parents of the bride are divorced), but they were able to handle last minute groupings/ requests without batting an eye. And the photographs are out of this world! We couldn't possibly be happier. No need to look further--hire Amy Sims as your photographer!!

look to the reception was captured. She has a great and funny personality. Very hard working. The duo was so much fun! I highly recommend.

e interested in having a lot of "in the moment" photos from our wedding. She did not disappoint! We have so many fun and amazing pictures of us and our guests having a great time. The staged photos are beautiful as well. It's going to be difficult to figure out which ones to frame since there are so many great options! Aside from the photos themselves, Amy was great to work with. The worksheet she sent us in advance helped us think through all the family shots and made that part of the event run very smoothly. She was also good at instructing us on how to stand and position ourselves. To top it off, she even sent us our thumb drive in wooden box with our names engraved on it. We could not have been more pleased!

ees your vision. She made it easy and fun and kept everything on track. The final product is beyond our expectations. Book her. You will be so happy you did ❤️

pat but she is also SO EASY to work with. Nothing phases her, she goes with the flow and brings a calm, positive energy to what can sometimes feel like a hectic nerve-wracking time. She was also extremely responsive and helpful throughout the wedding planning process which says a lot about her professionalism and overall commitment to providing her clients with a great experience. If you want to work with an amazing person and have the most outstanding, special photos, book immediately!!!

she got amazing candid shots at our wedding and absolutely beautiful portraits. For some of the photos we had no idea she had been in that location at that time--she thought of and captured everything! Truly an incredible experience with Amy and her team and I cannot stop gushing over our photos.

But in case you want to keep reading, we wrote this very long review because we feel so honored and truly lucky that she was part of our wedding: Amy approached our entire wedding process with a seemingly endless supply of care, sincerity, advice, patience, and humor, not to mention incredible talent and the utmost professionalism. Although we hired Amy to be our photographer, by the end of it all, she had also become our wedding planner (she had amazing suggestions for everything from day-of schedule to videography), our therapist (we had more than one panicked moment during planning and she was gentle, calm, and always available for a last-minute video call or email exchange), and our friend (she is such a blast to hang with, just an amazing human).   First, there are the photos themselves. They are incredible. Even better than we could have ever imagined. Authentic, beautiful, candid, warm, genuine, breathtaking, fun. My partner and I wanted to look our best, but also like ourselves. We can be goofy, but we also wanted beautiful photos that underscored the serious step we were taking. Amy brought all of this out in her gorgeous photos, capturing every moment and emotion. My partner and I were a little worried we wouldn't look or feel like ourselves in an atypical setting like wedding-day photos, but Amy made us so comfortable in front of the camera. She really has a knack for capturing real moments and getting people to feel like they can just be themselves around a camera. But she also has an amazing eye and the unique ability to capture small moments, ones that seem ordinary but are actually extraordinary, the photos that end up becoming your most cherished memories. Our wedding photos are such a gift because when we look at them, we're transported back to a really special day, one we'll get to relive again and again thanks to Amy. There's also the more logistical, managerial side of things, to which Amy also brought so much compassion and skill. She was wonderful at wrangling lots of people (and several canine guests), managing multiple schedules, and keeping everyone calm and in the moment and happy. Every single guest and vendor at some point has told us how impressed they were by both Amy's artistic style and professionalism. We're like, "We knowww, aren't we sooo smart for hiring her?!" (but really it's that Amy is incredible). We can't wait to work with her again someday. Lastly, we planned our entire wedding during COVID, and Amy could not have been more patient, understanding, or flexible with us—particularly when we threw some curveballs, including but not limited to: changing our date, doubling our number of guests with three weeks to go, and hiring videography at the last minute. Planning a wedding is hard and stressful enough, so you'll want Amy. Planning one during COVID is even harder and more stressful, so you'll really want Amy in your corner. Thank you so much, Amy! We can't imagine our day without you and feel incredibly grateful our paths crossed.

hurricane that stopped others from coming. We did not have a coordinator or planner and the day was hectic to say the least. She helped us take time to enjoy the intimate moments. She even helped us stay on our timeline and was super professional throughout. As awkward and uncomfortable as my husband and I are, she helped us feel at ease. Amy is different from other photographers in that her photos feel natural and raw. You can see and feel the emotion in her photos. Our family and and friends were blown away just from the little preview we saw of our photos. We can not wait to see the rest. and to have her capture out next special event!!

nly was she super organized, but she also was so responsive and helpful in giving us suggestions with regards to all things wedding. On our wedding day, she was prompt and kept us on schedule, but was also flexible and kind in managing any unanticipated delays! Then... of course there are her photos! We recommend visiting her site and viewing her gallery, because that's how we knew! And after seeing our own photos, we know for SURE! You can really feel the moments she captures - I don't know how else to put it. She's 100% PRESENT at your special day and makes sure you get to see and take home forever moments seen and unseen in such a unique but natural way. We'd be remiss to also just take a minute to say... what a gem of a human Amy is. AMY! Thanks for being more than our photographer, but really sharing all the smiles, tears, and shoulder shimmies with us!

nning my wedding, because I knew the photographs would be what I had to cherish once it was all over. I must have looked at a hundred different reviews and portfolios. I am very picky and wanted a photographer with a gift for catching candid moments while maintaining their eye for composition, but who would also know how to direct us to get great formal portraits. The candid aspect, especially, was important. I happen to know Amy's husband from a work project and when he told me to check her out I thought "sure, why not?" without any particular expectations. Then I actually looked at her portfolio and it absolutely blew me out of the water. A lot of photographers take good pictures, but none of them stand out and the photos blur together. Not so with Amy. She knows how to capture the individual spirit of each wedding, and how to visually tell the story of the day. I couldn't be happier with my pictures. Putting aside her technical skill, Amy is also just an absolute delight to work with. She was invested in all the details of my wedding (many of which were very unusual) and got super excited anytime I texted her a new picture or update on what I was planning. She offered excellent advice without being pushy and helped my photo-shy husband feel at ease in front of the camera. She also got us our engagement and wedding photos all within her promised timeframe, and all wonderfully organized and edited. She and her co-photographer were wonderful, grounded presences to have around on the big day and I truly felt there were invested in catching all the details that made my wedding magical. I would recommend her without reservation, and think it's a shame that not everyone gets to have Amy as their wedding photographer. Hire her!!!!

y and gave us many thoughtful recommendations in the planning phase. To top it off, she has a wicked sense of humor! Our guests loved her and we are so happy she was there to capture our big day!

y flexible in accomodating our constantly changing plans. She also took absolutely beautiful pictures! You would never believe we were in someone's backyard. Our wedding pictures captured us perfectly - outdoorsy and easygoing. We also ordered a wedding album from Amy, which also came out really nice. We highly recommend Amy!

our dates & split up our photography time. On the day of, she and her husband were kind and easy to work with, taking gorgeous photos and making my husband, myself, and our families feel at ease during photos. I'd definitely recommend Amy to anyone else!

oney is there a lot to think about! Amy kept me cool and collected. She helped me focus on what was most important and worked backward from there to ensure we captured all of our favorite moments. Amy took our engagement pictures as well, and she was able to help my extremely camera-shy husband get comfortable with having his picture taken before the big day. The extra time and effort she took to get to know us and make sure we were happy before the wedding made all the difference in the world. During the wedding, she had contingency plan after contingency plan and was quick to solve problems before I even noticed they existed. She must have donned a ninja suit at some point during the reception because Amy was able to catch some incredibly sweet and genuinely hilarious candid shots without making anyone feel like they were "on camera." I cannot recommend her enough. 10,000 stars!

reating my son and daughter-in-law's album, Amy was professional and so enjoyable with whom to work! She's a calming influence to those around her, and her work is beautiful. I'd highly recommend her!

ability to choose the 'right' photographer. Amy out shined them all with her portfolio. In particular, we loved her ability to capture the true emotions of the day through both the organized photos as well as, more importantly, through her candid shots. We searched quite a bit for someone who could realistically do that and I can tell you that it's very rare. We personally enjoyed her work and presence, but I think the true validation came from our guests who were impressed by how she actively got on the dance floor to get the best shots and angles. Once we received our photos, we heard, over and over again, just how impressed people were with how 'she truly captured the emotions of the day.' I can't tell you how many times I heard this from others! We firmly believe this as well and hope that others will have the chance for her to capture the emotions of their special day. Aside from being incredibly talented, Amy is an absolute pleasure to be around. Your photographer is the person you as a couple will undoubtedly spend the most time with throughout the day. Having a caring, fun, and personable photographer makes all the difference in feeling both comfortable and enjoying the day even more. We hope to work with Amy again for family photos. That's how much we love and appreciate her work and her as an individual!

ed. From the engagement shoot to putting together the photo album, she truly listens to any ideas you may have, and if you need suggestions, she always has answers! Amy is so creative and is also really fun to work with! Her style is so unique and we loved how beautiful and real our photos look. Aside from taking great photos, her professionalism shines through in everything she does-- her website (which speaks for itself) is incredible, and the process of ordering photos/albums is so organized and could not have been smoother. Thank you Amy for capturing our special day so beautifully and being such a pleasure to work with!

fun and nothing eve felt too forced. So far the family and friends we've shared photos with can't believe how wonderful they turned out.

artist. She takes the time to get to know her subjects and what they're looking for. She works hard and goes the extra mile to make sure she's getting everything the client asked for and everything the client didn't know they wanted. Amy clearly cares a great deal about her work and her subjects. She goes above and beyond expectations and does everything she can to make her services worth every penny and makes her clients feel special. We feel so blessed to have found Amy amongst the endless list of wedding photographers out there. Hire her! You won't regret it.

e around our schedule. She worked with us to schedule an engagement shoot so that we could get a feel for working with her, and come the big day we were super comfortable around her and were able to get all the shots we wanted. Amy was early on our wedding day, and was even able to get pics of me and my bridesmaids in our pjs which I had anticipated not having time for! It is now one of my favorite photos. From start to finish she captured so many romantic and fun moments at our wedding. My family also loved the ability to access photos from the online gallery she provides, so this was super helpful when sharing. I would highly recommend for any NYC bride!
