For our engagement shoot, we were running really late due to traffic but Anna was extremely pleasant and flexible. na came up to Ocean City, NJ. She really got the couple to relax and take natural photos. During the planning, my daughter had a a lot of questions and Anna answered so quickly. We ended up having her shoot the Rehearsal Dinner at the last minute. It was great to have relaxed shots of everyone. We have only seen highlights-about 200 photos from the wedding so far-and they are gorgeous. The lighting is fantastic. Some of the shots look like they were taken someplace other than a hotel's grounds. We couldn't be more pleased with Anna Schmidt Photography!!!!!

Prior to the wedding, her turnaround time to my emails with questions, flexibility with respect to my requests, and organization with respect to the shots I wanted to take was an OCD/type A girl's dream. The experience working with her was so great that I actually wouldn't have regretted it if the pictures turned out just ok, but my obsession with Anna just got stronger and stronger. My husband and I are not naturals in front of the camera. He's impatient, and neither of us are naturals with respect to posing for pictures. That said, Anna made us feel at ease, told us what to do, and hit the shots we needed quickly and efficiently. She had the list of requested photos with her at all times, but also proactively recommended different shots with good lighting/background that we hadn't even considered. She got candids and shots of all the little details to really capture the experience. But it gets better! After the wedding and reception, she had edited and sent us ~100 wedding preview pics by the time we had made it home from the after party. This was not even remotely requested, but I cannot tell you how special it was to be able to go through the pictures the next day with my new husband, family, and friends. And they are so, so beautiful. I am so incredibly happy to have had the experience working with Anna. The pleasure was literally all mine!

We planned the entire wedding from California, and Anna was very good at working with us long distance. On the day of my wedding I showed up with my dress at the venue with just half an hour or so to spare before the ceremony. I was worried about logistics and details and things falling through the cracks, and I was not in a frame of mind to pose for photos, even though I'd been looking forward to it for months, which made me feel even worse. But Anna put me at ease and told me exactly what to do. This fixed everything in my mind, as I was able to simply concentrate on being in the moment. I was very impressed with the way Anna took charge but was not overwhelming or bossy. She has an excellent temperament for those crazy wedding days. She knew the location and which areas of the venue would serve best. She had creative ideas for posing and arranging things that really added to the memories of the day. She captured the little details that our family & friends had worked on for months - all the little things that made the day really special and personal. I'm also very impressed that she was able to capture not only the grandeur of the venue's landscape (my personal favorites are these) and excellent portraits that will be hanging on our walls forever, but she also captured those photojournalistic shots - intimate moments between family and guests that I didn't get to see because I was busy running around and greeting guests. Also very impressive was the speed with which the photo collection was completed for us. My husband and I will relive these moments for decades with these spectacular photos. More importantly than her flexibility and responsiveness is her art. Her photographs are breathtaking--she even was able to make my fiance look like he wanted to be there for the shoot (and he was sick and he's not a photo person!). She had a sneak peek of the pictures up for us that very same night, and the entire album back to us within a week. Many of my friends who were married in the past few years actually said they wished they could have had Anna for their events, the way our photos turned out. I was so nervous to hand over creative control to a photographer, as I'm usually the one behind the camera capturing the moments for myself and my friends. Our venue was 40 miles outside of the city and she still made time to go out and do light testing and scout out the best locations to take photos. Everyone would always tell me how fast my wedding day would pass and to enjoy every moment of it and it did. Just a quick browse through Anna's gallery and we noticed right away her photos weren't detached and stagey, but spontaneous and really allowing her subjects to be natural, sometimes facing away, or capturing a moment of couples mid-conversation. We were impressed. I met with Anna for an initial consultation and we talked for an hour and she brought along sample photo books she had put together. She asked great questions from "How did you and your fiance meet?" to logistical questions like "How many people are you expecting? Is there space to set up additional lights if needed?" Having worked in entertainment and event planning, I appreciated that she was considering these things so early on. Our next meeting was the venue a week before the wedding. On the day-of, Anna & Lauren were completely chill, very professional and friendly. We had family members help to corral together our extended family (like herding cats!) and Anna & Lauren remained completely calm in the midst of all this. About 20 minutes before they left, they checked in with us to see if there were any people we wanted to get special photos with. I was able to get some wonderful shots even in those last few moments. Our first batch of preview photos came through FAST! I was amazed; and beyond that, I was so enthralled with how she and Lauren really captured the spirit of the day. Nothing seemed static or uninteresting- and they captured all those moments that we missed. It's a great surprise to see all the moments you weren't a part of. Just beautiful & like a present of memories! I would book Anna and Lauren for another event without hesitation. Absolutely!

few very important things to note: - My fiance doesn't know how to keep his eyes open during photographs, seriously. This has been a problem for years. SOMEHOW Anna was able to capture him with his eyes open in our engagement photographs. That is some amazing work there. - Anna did amazing planning work for our engagement shoot. We did a sunrise photo shoot at the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial. She emailed me two weeks before to give me some ideas about what to expect, what to wear (and avoid wearing), where she wanted to focus the shoot and where to park. She made what could have been an annoying DC parking situation, very easy! I am so impressed with the planning she did. - Anna is really good about providing her opinion, but ultimately leaving it up to the client to decide things like what to wear, how to pose, and where to do photographs. I value her opinion as a photographer, but it is nice that she valued my opinions as well. Now that I have seen the engagement pictures, I am SO GLAD that she will be doing my wedding and have no doubt the pictures will be fantastic! Thanks Anna!!!
