10/10 venue that gives a different atmosphere than most venues around. This charming museum right on the water provided the perfect space to hold our wedding. We could not get enough compliments about the space and how unique it was. Cocktail hour in the museum have our guests something to talk about for the rest of the evening. Our ceremony was in the deck, while reception was inside. It was small, intimate and the most perfect evening that we could have asked for.
Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park had just opened a new wedding venue, the Merrill Family Pavilion on June 1st, 2023. My husband and I have a little bit of a crazy story. On March 23rd, 2023, with months of back and forth about how we were going to celebrate our marriage in addition to financial decisions, we ultimately decided that we wanted to get married very soon, and plan our whole wedding in 10 weeks! It's a little bit of a crazy decision, but from there we started to look for a wedding ceremony and reception venue. We know of the maritime museum being a popular venue spot in Annapolis, we called to see if they somehow had short notice availability for June this year. The museum did not have availability, but they informed us of the new pavilion that was under construction and will be ready by our requested date! That same day, we were able to go see the construction site and make a decision. There was work to be done, but it was magnificent. The pavilion has waterfront views with sailboats, truly giving an Annapolis charm. That same day we decided to take the chance and have our wedding be at the Maritime Park, and hope construction would finish by our wedding day! It did and our wedding day was more than we could have ever asked for, and was so breathtaking. The Maritime Museum and Park offers the option to add on a Day of Coordinator and we HIGHLY recommend it. Amber was incredible to work with! She was very communicative, detail oriented, decorated the venue, facilitated all vendors throughout the day, and was a huge help throughout the entire day. She was very easy to work with and our wedding day was amazing, and this venue financially is VERY affordable! The fact that we happened to be the pavilion's first ever wedding in our hometown is truly special to my husband and I, and we look back on the day thinking life truly has a funny way with things sometimes. Highly recommend Annapolis Maritime Museum and Park for your wedding venue!!
Our dream venue! It is so naturally beautiful it doesn't need a lot of decoration to make it perfect. Getting vendors that had worked there before really helped. the only downside is that it can be difficult to work around the museum hours.
We've been going to the Annapolis Maritime Museum for local events for years and knew it was the perfect venue for our big day! It has the best view of the Chesapeake in all of Annapolis and we loved how intimate and warm the space feels. Paige was so helpful and responsive throughout the entire process, and facilitated our perfect wedding day as our day-of-coordinator. Our guests loved how special the venue felt and we loved that we didn't need a lot of decor; the setting spoke for itself. Cocktail hour on the deck at sunset was a highlight. We'd strongly recommend AMM and Paige!
Paige was amazing to work with and the museum provided it's own decoration and experience for our guests to enjoy. Unfortunately, the weather was NOT in our favor leading up to the event due to a hurricane coming up the coast from the South. Paige was able to give us lots of great advice for last minute changes to have all activity inside the museum and under the tented deck (we had planned on pictures outside before and after the ceremony). She was available last minute the morning of our wedding to assure us everything would be beautiful regardless of the weather. She talked through our options of completely closing the tent on the deck or leaving one side open for a view of the Bay. Even with the tent a bit open, if we moved the chairs back, Paige was confident we could still have the ceremony on the deck with a gorgeous view of the Bay. And boy was it gorgeous, even with the wind and rain! Highly recommend this venue!
AMM was the perfect venue for our August wedding. The location in Eastport is so cute, and the venue really has it all - waterfront views, outdoor space for cocktail hour and a beautiful, modern reception hall. The space really lends itself to whatever color palette/vibe you envision. Our guests raved about how unique and beautiful the museum was for a wedding.
Paige, the events manager, was extremely helpful and responsive from the start. She was also our day-of coordinator, which was so helpful because she knew all of the ins and outs of the museum.
If you want a fun, different venue for your wedding, look no further. Couldn't recommend AMM more!
The Annapolis Maritime Museum was an incredible and absolutely perfect place for our wedding! Paige was so helpful throughout the whole process. We lived out of state and she was kind enough to give us a Facetime tour (this was early pandemic days) and talk to us about the venue and all it had to offer so that we could made an informed decision on a venue. Over the course of many months planning our wedding, Paige answered any and all of our questions and always answered promptly and with helpful guidance. Our wedding day was AMAZING -- we lucked out with beautiful end of May weather and the ceremony on the deck was just lovely. The deck is tented so we didn't even need to worry about a rain plan. We had about 115 people at our wedding which was less than intended but actually worked out wonderfully in the space. There was plenty of space for guests to have a plated dinner, for a good-sized dance floor, and for people to wander around the room or the deck. Guests loved being able to be outside on the deck space and take photos on the dock, while others were inside dancing. People were able to spread out and really enjoy themselves as well as the great views. The sunset pics are incredible - highly recommend getting out to the deck or docks for some of those! :) The museum is such a unique venue and our guests raved about it during our wedding and afterwards. You can't beat the uniqueness and the beauty of the views all around. Thank you, Paige and AMM!
The Annapolis Maritime Museum was the perfect location for our wedding celebration. We could not have been happier with our choice. Paige and the team were incredibly easy to work with and had wonderful recommendations throughout our entire process. The water views from the museums deck are the best in Annapolis and perfect for a cocktail hour. We had around 130 guest and the inside was perfect for dinner and dancing. Our guests were wowed by the venue and felt they had a true Annapolis experience at our party. We can't reccomend this venue enough.
The AMM was an awesome venue for our family's recent wedding. Fortunately we had spectacular 4th of July weather and were able to really enjoy the huge waterfront tented deck with incredible views of the bay for the cocktail hour, with 130 guests.
Even though it was planned under uncertain COVID conditions, Paige was very accomodating and helpful. She met with us several times and was very helpful in coordinating our needs. Pricing was very fair. The venue very much has an authentic Eastport/Annapolis feel to it.
My only suggestion would be to allow setup to begin earlier, perhaps at 2:00, rather than 3:00, which I think can be done without impacting the museum guests. The 2 hour setup window is very challenging.
This was the perfect location for our wedding! Our contact was Paige and she was wonderful! The indoor/outdoor setting truly set the tone for our nautical themed wedding! The space is wonderful and big enough so our guests were not on top of one another. There is also a separate building that the wedding party and families could go too. My husband and I were so pleased with this location and it was a perfect August wedding!
My favorite part about our wedding was the venue. The AMM was perfect for us. We wanted a unique venue that was also waterfront but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg. We did the ceremony on the deck and then dinner and dancing inside. Our guests were free to enjoy both indoor and outdoor spaces the whole night. Paige and her team were very helpful throughout the whole process. We didn't even know we were going to have a helper on wedding day but Kate was super helpful getting us all down the aisle and coordinating the vendors. We loved that the rental came with exactly what we needed (the space and chairs) and gave us the freedom to choose our other vendors without much restriction. Definitely a little bit more DIY than some "wedding factory" venues that provide all the services but we were able to make our wedding unique and exactly what we wanted!
After looking at different venues in Annapolis, we went to the Annapolis Maritime Museum to meet with Paige, and our choice for a venue was clear. Paige was great to work with and even answered our questions while she was on leave which shows how much she cares about her clients. Our caterer had done many weddings at the museum which helped a great deal with planning/set up. We picked the venue also because of the ability to do an indoor/outdoor wedding and reception just in case it rained, the water views, and the uniqueness of the venue. We found that it took very little to decorate because of the museum's exhibits which was great for us. We fit 120 people comfortably in the Bay Room and still had a decent sized dance floor (we had a hard time envisioning that when we were planning). Our weather turned out to be great, and we were able to get great pictures on the docks. Our friends and family could not stop raving about our venue because it was so different than any wedding they had attended. If we had to do it over again - we would choose the Annapolis Maritime Museum without a doubt!
My husband and I never wanted to have our wedding in a hotel, banquet hall or anything along those lines. When my wedding planner suggested we look into the Annapolis Maritime Museum, we were very intrigued. We ended up booking the venue site unseen because my husband and I were both on deployment with no way to travel to see the venue in person. We could not have been luckier to book this amazing venue. The gorgeous deck, beautiful indoor space and unique museum area made our wedding reception one of a kind. The ambience of the maritime museum is so unique, and all our guests loved dancing in the dinner area, hanging out on the deck, and enjoying the great exhibits in the museum portion. Not only was the space wonderful, but all the staff and arrangements were incredibly easy. The list of caterers were incredibly varied, and the four that I tried were delicious. The maritime museum has a wonderful bridal suite for getting ready, a beach area with room for outdoor games, a deck area for gorgeous photo backdrop, and a wonderful dinner dancing area to party! The price is so incredible especially for Annapolis, and my husband and I could not have been happier with the maritime museum as our venue. If I had to go and do it all over again, I’d book the maritime museum even earlier! This venue made all our wedding reception dreams come true, for an affordable price and easy planning! If you’re considering the Annapolis maritime museum for a unique Annapolis venue that won’t cost an arm and a let... stop looking and book! You won’t regret it I promise.
We absolutely LOVED our experience at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. The staff was responsive, knowledgeable, flexible, and wonderful to work with. The venue it's self was perfect for our needs. We ended up with 125 people along with a dance floor and an 8 piece band and there was plenty of room for the reception. The ceremony was a little tight, but we also had our ceremony perpendicular to the Bay Room door which looks like cuts down on seat numbers. If you're looking for a unique waterfront venue that is affordable and close to other amenities, this is it!
We couldn't have been happier with our summer wedding at the Annapolis Maritime Museum! It's the perfect option for those who want an outdoor/waterfront wedding but are concerned about the possibility of rain, as you have access to the water while still having complete coverage for a ceremony under a tent on the dock and the reception inside. Our guests had a ton of fun exploring the museum and taking pictures by the sailboats and on the docks at the reception. Highly recommend!
Absolutely fabulous venue. Paige was a pleasure to work with, and the venue was beautiful. Our guests loved and raved over the fun interior. From its small aquarium to its oyster shells, and its sailboat inside to the breathtaking views on the boat and from the dock, this venue was perfect and fit with historic Annapolis so well. We had oysters served from the same area in the exhibit, and the guests loved the view on the deck with the breeze blowing in. We could not have asked for more and were very happy with this venue and a special thank you again to Paige for going the extra mile for us to make our wedding day turn out so well.
Beautiful venue! We had a little over 100 guests total, and it was the perfect size for everyone. My guests loved taking pictures with the water in the background. I would definitely recommend for any event!
My husband and I really wanted a wedding venue that mimicked our personalities and the environment that we wanted to create for our wedding guests. The minute we walked into the Annapolis Maritime Museum, we knew it was the place for us! The ambiance is classy, yet welcoming with the character of the actual museum, the incredible view of the bay from the deck where the ceremony was held and the beach area where our guests were able to watch the sunset during cocktail hour. The people are the museum were incredible to work with and very accommodating. Our event coordinator specifically, really got to know us as a couple and spent time helping us to get the venue to be exactly what we envisioned on our best-day-ever! The venue was truly perfect for us as our friends and closest family got to watch us join our lives together forever and then celebrate the night afterwards. We could not have chosen a better place!!
My husband and I had a courthouse wedding earlier this year but still wanted to celebrate with our family and friends at some point. We went to a rehearsal dinner at the Museum a couple of years ago and I fell in love with it. So, when we decided we wanted to have the celebration in Annapolis (my husband's hometown) I only looked at one venue. The Museum is just so unique, low-key, and genuinely Annapolis. I also loved giving our venue money to a Museum and good cause. Once we met Paige to tour the venue and knew our date was available, we were set. Paige was very responsive to our request to set up a meeting and flexible with our limited availability to meet (we do not live in the area).
Since we were already married we did not have a ceremony at the Museum, just a December reception for 126 guests starting at 6pm. When you tour the space, it seems like the capacity of 150 would be tight, but we ended up having plenty of room. It was also daylight when we toured the space, so were bummed that it would be dark by the time our guests arrived and they wouldn't really get the water views, but the venue looked GORGEOUS at night. We went with all white tables, chairs, tablecloths, plateware, etc and gold accents (framed pictures, table numbers, vases, votives, etc) and white and green bouquets and it looked amazing. We had two heaters outside on the tented deck and guests loved being out there for the raw bar, drinks, apps, dessert, etc. I loved that we didn't have to worry about weather - it was nice that it didn't rain/snow for outdoor pictures prior but it would not have put a damper on the main event at all!
I could go on and on about how perfect the venue was. So many guests asked us how we found it. The only downsides (which I'm not going to dock any points for since we knew all of this going in) were that the party has to end by 10pm and that buses can't get all the way down to the venue. Could not recommend AMM more!!!
The Annapolis Maritime Museum was my dream wedding venue after I went to a wedding here a few years ago. Right after I got engaged last spring, I contacted them immediately to see what openings they had for 2017! They are so accommodating, easy to communicate with, and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The venue is already decorated so well, you don't need to worry about much except for adding your own personal touches. I also love the venue is part indoor, part outdoor so that put me at ease we wouldn't need an emergency plan if the weather happened to be bad that day. Of course planning a wedding can be very stressful at times, but AMM made everything so easy for us! I 100% recommend to any Maryland couples :)
The Annapolis Maritime Museum was such a unique, affordable, MD-style venue. To find ANY venue on the water in Annapolis for such a great price, I felt like I hit the jackpot. The views are absolutely beautiful from the deck where we chose to host our ceremony, cocktail hour and partial reception space. The views and perfect September weather kept everyone coming outside so I highly recommend utilizing the outside space as much as possible. Our guests raved about the venue and the photos are breathtaking with the Chesapeake Bay backdrop with bright sunset colors in the sky.
AMM put up a permanent tent on the back deck which is of good quality and is high so that you don't feel intruded during your event. Plus, it saves you money and hassle of having to rent your own (you never know with MD weather!) And I was extremely happy to see that it doesn't cover the McNasby Oyster sign which is what makes this venue so special.
The staff was such a pleasure to work with while planning and have been through the process so were extremely helpful when trying to determine layout, logistics, etc. The only thing I was disappointed by was that I thought the on-site attendant from the venue on our wedding day was going to provide more hands on help. We were under the impression that she would help with closing the blinds before I walked out and directing guests to the appropriate area, etc. So we had to scramble in a few areas but we made it work!
But overall, the venue was beautiful and staff was extremely helpful with the planning of such a large event. I highly recommend the Annapolis Maritime Museum for your wedding or other special event! :)
I have to take a moment to thank the awesome team at the Annapolis Maritime Museum for being such all stars both during the wedding planning process on our big day. My husband and I fell in love with the museum at our first visit with Cindy. It's just a special, super neat space. We loved the more industrial feel and it was definitely the "Annapolis", non-hotel, waterfront location that we were looking for. It was the first venue we looked at the one we compared all other site visits to.
Even though the space is relatively compact space, it definitely works for a big event. We had 150 guests plus a band and sit down dinner and were able to make the number work comfortably by breaking down a few tables after dinner to give us some breather room for dancing. The newly tented deck is gorgeous. And despite the fact that it ended up snowing on our wedding day in April(!!!), we were able to bring in space heaters at the last minute and it made the space completely usable all night even with temperatures in the 30s (note: that took three industrial space heaters, rented through Absolute Party Rental who were also great!).
I will admit that I was a higher maintenance bride. I think I made at least 10 visits to the museum pre-wedding and that's being conservative. The patience, kindness and partnership extended to me by Cindy and Paige was absolutely amazing. They made me feel like our day was important in the midst of the hundreds of other events and activities going on at the museum. They were such a pleasure to work with and our trust in them was well deserved. When it was all said and done, our wedding day was perfect and flawless and I couldn't thank these ladies enough for that. I would highly recommend the Annapolis Maritime Museum as a fantastic wedding venue and look forward to going to many other events there in the years to come!
The Annapolis Maritime Museum was truly the perfect place for a beautiful bayside wedding! If you want to be on the water, this is the spot. The massive dock and piers provide plenty of outdoor space and an amazing backdrop for your ceremony. Our wedding was 100 people and it was the perfect size! But you can certainly do 150. The setting is intimate, fun, and unique. The best spot in Annapolis for sure! Cindy and Paige we're extremely helpful from the early planning stages all the way to the big day!
Annapolis Maritime Museum was the perfect place to hold our ceremony and reception. We worked closely with both Paige and Cindy, and they were wonderful throughout the process. I was a long-distance bride, so I really appreciated that they responded promptly to emails and phone calls; I always felt like they were taking the time to communicate with me even though I couldn’t stop by.
The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. We did the ceremony on the back dock, cocktail hour in the museum area, and dinner/dancing in the banquet room. I had about 100 guests, and it felt extremely roomy. All of my guests commented on how beautiful it was – and I loved that it required zero décor because it was so gorgeous on its own merits. The view out the back during the ceremony was so quintessentially Annapolis without being overwhelmingly nautical – just gorgeous bay scenes, a sailboat going by every now and then. They now have a tent up over the back dock, which definitely saved me money. I don’t know that I would’ve rented one because the weather looked great, but I definitely should’ve – the shade it provided on a hot summer day was invaluable. I had older guests that really appreciated it, even during a short ceremony.
The cocktail hour (and later, stations for dinner) was in the museum area. This was definitely crucial to have as well – our younger guests were so entertained by playing in the boat, watching the crabs, etc, that it really freed up their parents to enjoy themselves. We kept the doors closed to the dock after the ceremony, so it was a nice place to which people could retreat if the music got too loud or they wanted to get some photos outside.
We used the barge house pre-ceremony for some freshening up and as a staging area. It was really great to have that area to leave our bags / supplies and we could go back there as needed throughout the night to have a separate restroom, space away from guests, etc.
I highly recommend the Maritime Museum for any event, but especially a wedding. The staff was so incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially for an out-of-town bride, and the venue was just ideal.
We were married at the Annapolis Maritime Museum on September 26th, 2015. We chose the Maritime Museum because living in Annapolis, my husband and I had fond memories there, and we wanted to show our guests a true Annapolis experience. Additionally, it was the perfect place for a DIY wedding. Cindy, the wedding coordinator, was so responsive, friendly, and accommodating. She made the planning experience easy. On a windy, choppy, and flooded day, the venue was incredibly cozy. All of the DIY aspects came together beautifully in the venue, and our guests were awed by the stunning views of the Chesapeake Bay that the Maritime Museum provided. Aside from the large deck and docks, other unique aspects of the Maritime Museum included the local art that surrounded the walls in the main room, and the vintage oyster museum room. There was even a large boat replica in the room. We put wedding gifts, a candy stand, old family pictures, and our cakes on the boat, and it looked great. While the main room seems small at first glance, we seated 190 people in the room comfortably. People were able to spread out through the main room, museum room, and large deck with ease throughout the reception. It truly was the perfect day and the most perfect venue. If you are looking for a unique venue that shows off the character of the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis, and/or Maryland, this is the spot.
Both of us being nerds, my husband and I wanted to find a historic site for our wedding reception. Since I work in museums, we aimed for something in the same category. When we found this little museum, tucked away in Eastport, we were thrilled!
This water-front location offered a unique space to host our reception. The large gallery offered enough seating inside for our guests, buffet tables, dessert table, gift table, dance floor, AND band. The smaller gallery was open for cocktail tables and for people to meander through the exhibit. We were able to put a tent out on the large deck for people to enjoy as well as host the bar and another buffet table. The view out onto the water and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is breathtaking. At the end of our reception, we were able to bid our guests farewell in a unique fashion and left by boat. It was the hit of the night!
The site has an ample sized catering kitchen and does not require that you use one of their caterers. There is a small beach area that could otherwise be used for ceremonies, but we opted for a an on-site grill station for fresh sliders.
The museum event coordinator is one of the nicest people in the world and is very thorough in answering your questions and working with you to be sure you have an enjoyable experience. The staff is flexible in timing in order to meet otherwise very busy schedules for the bride and groom. A perfect venue!
