Hiring Anya to photograph our wedding was one of the best decisions we could have made. The photos capture the essence of our day so perfectly. I can't say enough about how great Anya is. Before hiring her, I knew I loved her work, but I did not expect her to blow my expectations out of the water. If you're looking for a wedding photographer, look no further. My husband and I are relatively shy when it comes to taking pictures. We can be pretty awkward if we're not given any instructions on how to pose. This is why we felt it would be super important to do an engagement shoot before the big day. At the engagement shoot, Anya taught us how to pose without looked posed. If you are like me and prefer the more whimsical and candid look to pictures, you'll love Anya. All the tips she gave us during the engagement session helped us prepare for our wedding day. On our wedding day, Anya came on time and very prepared. She took pictures of myself and the bridesmaid while her second photographer took pictures of the groom and groomsmen. I was a little worried about how the groomsmen pictures would turn out since it was another photographer. But Anya has a distinct style and chose a very complimentary second photographer. The groomsmen pictures came out amazing also. The same night as my wedding, she sent us a few teasers. I literally died when I saw them! They were so beautiful. She went home really late and still managed to send us a few pictures so we can relive our wedding day the next day. A few weeks later, she sent us the rest of the pictures. I was late to work that day because I couldn't put down my phone. I felt all kinds of emotions looking through every picture. It felt like every picture belonged in a magazine. I did a lot of laughing and crying that morning. All I know is, if I ever need a professional photographer again, Anya will be my girl!

Ayna was so AMAZING! All of our photos look so beautiful! She was EXACTLY what I wanted in a photographer! I wanted my photos to be candid when it came to all of our Armenian traditions and nothing to be too posed. All of the photos looked better than I could ever imagine. Anya is literally THE BEST! We had initially hired another photographer for our wedding, but after a bad engagement shoot had to let them go. We were in a bind because we had lost out on our deposit, so our coordinator said he would talk to a photographer he thought we would love that might be willing to give us a small discount. That photographer was Anya! Since the first time we met her at our engagement shoot we knew she was perfect. She made us feel super comfortable throughout and never too posed. She helped us to look more photogenic, especially me and my sometimes double chin. Her style is absolutely gorgeous and you just feel ethereal. On the day of the wedding she was early, so she had extra time to shoot the details and we never felt rushed. She was extremely patient with our semi-immature wedding party. Her vision was spot on and she knew all of the great places to take us throughout our venue to get the best shots and the best lighting. I can't say enough good things about Anya. HIRE HER!!!

She has prices for a small event like ours, she is warm and friendly, she is very talented and we could see right from the start that she is a professional. Anya did an amazing job on our wedding photos! we REALLY wanted authentic natural photos and she absolutely nailed it. She is truly an artist and did a beautiful job capturing our day. she was also a joy to work with and very thorough. i was adamant about not waisting my cocktail hours for photos but at the same time wanted a list of photos and she was VERY efficient in getting them done as quick as possible but still making sure it was perfect quality. i highly recommend Anya!!!

As a photographer, myself, I was very particular when it came to choosing a photographer for my special day. With Anya shooting the wedding I felt I could really relax because I knew the day would be captured beautifully. I was not disappointed. My groom and I disagreed in the beginning about the priority we would put on the photography. After the wedding was over, he agreed that I was right and was happy that we had someone that was talented, professional, easy going, and able to communicate with everyone. Our pictures are beautiful and can serve so many purposes. One thing to also note is that I am African-American, my husband is Caucasian and my friends and family span the rainbow of ethnicities and ages and she made everyone look good. We found Anya Kernes through our wedding planner. We are so happy that our planner recommended Anya because she is amazing! During the first meeting with Anya, I viewed photos from the most recent wedding she photographed. She is super sweet and very friendly. Her aesthetic is romantic and dreamy, perfect for our wedding. At the time, my husband and I were in a long distance relationship. Planning our wedding nearly 3000 miles apart was challenging to say the least. Because of this, it made it difficult to find a day that everyone was available for the engagement shoot. I was worried that we weren’t going to have one before our wedding day. Anya is always very prompt with responding to emails, which I appreciate. This made scheduling our engagement shoot less stressful. We finally found a day that worked for all 3 of us, but it was less than 7 weeks till our wedding! A few weeks before our engagement shoot, she gave me some suggestions about locations and great tips about what to wear, hair and makeup, nails, etc. On the day of our engagement shoot, Anya made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera. She gave us a few cues and tips about what to do. I appreciated that Anya chose more natural poses instead of going for the cheesy high school prom poses. Our engagement shoot photos were so beautiful. This made me even more excited for Anya to shoot our wedding. Our wedding day finally came. Anya and her assistant arrived at our venue early to scout out the location and to look for places with the best lighting. Again, Anya made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. We requested to have more formal portraits with each of our extended families. That was a very overwhelming part of our wedding day because both of my extended families are very large. Imagine gathering and coordinating 20-30 people for a portrait! But Anya kept her cool and we got all the shots. Anya exceeded our expectations for both our engagement shoot and wedding day. She really pays attention to the details and lighting, which makes a huge difference in the photos. I love that we have these gorgeous photos to look back on for years to come. There were so many great moments, from the special details of my glittery shoes to the dancing and bouquet toss. If Anya can make 2 people with no modeling experience look this good in front of the camera, then look no further, you need to hire Anya to capture your special moments! I have already recommended her to a friend. She shot their proposal and they were very happy with her work.

I don't even know where to begin... Our photos are incredible, fun, amazing, breathtaking- she captured so many special moments. She was super easy to work with, detail oriented during prep but not over bearing. She arrived early on the day of and handled all of the little details while we were running around like mad women still setting up! She was fun, light-hearted yet professional which helped put everyone at ease and feel comfortable. We are not very traditional nor conventional and she worked with our personalities instead of trying to box us into poses. My wife and I are two very quirky women and can't take much of anything too seriously and she let us be ourselves and we had the best time. My family is huge and she managed to wrangle us all in for the big group photo and got everyone smiling in it!! That is no small task! To be honest I wasn't sure about Anya's photo style and I was nervous because I never met her before our wedding day buttttt she was prompt at answering my questions, was pleasant via phone/email and so we ended up moving forward with her for our big day and I'm so glad that we did! Our photos turned out wonderful despite the rain, her style with our wedding fit so well. It was just so classy and I came out beautiful (most important lol), she was able to capture moments that we wouldn't even have thought of and am so glad she captured it because we didn't have a chance to see the little details on our wedding day. Most importantly Anya had our sneak peek out in a couple days and our photos out in about a week or so, where I gotta hand it to her... that was SO FAST. Wow! Anya’s photography is so beautiful, thoughtful and breathtaking. We are so lucky that she was available to photograph our wedding day. Things were incredibly hectic on my (the bride’s) side while we were getting ready but somehow Anya was able to get so many gorgeous shots of the process. Although Anya is an obviously talented photographer, what I appreciated most about her was her very calm and problem-solving presence on the day. My wedding coordinator bombed her job and Anya stepped in seamlessly to keep us on time and smiling! She gave fantastic direction, which ensured that our photos did not look stiff and staged. She was a very soothing presence. The only build would be that our family shots could have been a bit more precisely positioned. To be fair, we had quite a lot of shots and time was limited. Getting everyone in perfect position while also working within the time constraints would have been tough. This review is long overdue given that my wedding was in April this year. What can I say? After debating on wether or not to do the engagement session, my husband and I decided it was a "yes". We chose the Arlington Gardens are our location and boy did Anya make us feel so relaxed. My husband hates taking pictures and posing for them. Anya made it such a fun experience that she was able to catch my husband's genuine smile in the engagement photos. On the day of the wedding, Anya captured tons of detailed and candid photos through out the day. Three months later I am still obsessed with my wedding photos! She is so sweet, it was like having another friend present. I can't even begin to explain how excited I was the night when I got a text from Anya saying that she had a surprise and later got an email with the link to the gallery. When we started looking for a wedding photographer, we felt overwhelmed because no one seemed to stand out to us until we found Anya and saw her work. Her photography style is unbelievably romantic and beautiful and the way she plays with natural lighting is nothing short of magical. I was nervous about being photographed because I'm generally shy and feel awkward with a camera pointed at me, but none of this was an issue with Anya at all. She was encouraging and funny and constantly excited about the shots she was getting. She came early on the wedding day and even helped us with some of the setting up (which she didn't have to do at all). She captured beautiful candid shots of family and friends and the venue, and when we went outdoors for the picturesque shots she knew exactly what lighting and setting she wanted us in and led us around the grounds accordingly. At the same time, the photos don't look forced or posed because she talked to us and made us laugh and so my husband and I ended up looking very natural in our pictures. I can't recommend her more highly and I'm so grateful we found her.
