I thought very long and hard about weather or not to leave this review, but I think people who are about to get married should know about my experience. I bought my wedding dress at barefoot bride downtown, this is not a review of them, they ar...e and have been amazing. I bought my dress more than a year in advance so at exactly one year out I made an appointment with one of the Taylors that they recommended to me. At my first appointment I made it clear that the breast pads needed to be removed because they were to large for me. She pinned up the shoulder straps, that at the time I didn’t think needed to be done, but I am not a taylor. When I made a comment about the breast area being very high where she pinned it, she said “well your breasts are very low” ok maybe my breasts aren’t where they used to be when I was 18, but I’m 30, I’m not dealing with a grandmother situation. Again, I am not a taylor so I assumed she knew better than I do. I had multiple appointments during the time that she had my dress, one to make sure the under garments I chose would work, I had to purchase a slip so that the bottom of the dress wasn’t so shear. One because I changed my shoe choice. At each appointment I made a point to say how much I wanted the pads out of this dress. One month before my wedding she texts me and tells me that my dress is ready and I am ecstatic. When I got to my appointment 10 minutes early I rang the bell, it’s 108 degrees outside. No answer. I rang the bell 3 more times. No answer. At this point I have sweat dripping down my legs, as I’m about to put on my wedding dress… I finally texted her 7 minutes after my appointment time that I was there, and she came to let me in and said she didn’t hear the bell. When we get up to the room I unzip the bag that my dress is in and the first thing I see are the pads… still there. I pull the slip out of the bag and immediately know that it is incredibly too short, but I put it on and when I get the dress on, the breasts were so high this dress wasn’t even human shaped anymore. It looked like they should be coming from my collar bones. She came in the room and I pointed out the problems. While she was in the room with me I heard her bell ring at least twice. She said the fixes were easy fixes. One week later I got a text that my dress was ready. When I got there and up to the room, I started to get undressed to put the dress on she was already knocking on the door to see if I was ready. When I got it on I pointed out that now it looked saggy because the straps had been taken up too high but she again told me to tape my breasts higher. She has no idea if I was self conscious about my body, and in my understanding a taylor is supposed to alter a dress to fit your body not to alter your body to fit your dress… so I paid, almost $400 took my dress home because I didn’t trust her to do anything else to it, and when I put it on I realized that the arm holes are so small that they are so uncomfortable that there was no way I would be able to wear that dress all day, so I had to take my dress to another Taylor 3 weeks before my wedding to undo what she did in shortening the straps. When I called the barefoot bride to tell them about my experience to warn them about recommending her, they informed me that they actually don’t recommend her anymore because of similar calls that they have gotten.
