We absolutely loved Appleford for our wedding venue. We toured many venues before choosing Appleford, and immediately fell in love with the charming stone house, boxwood gardens, and willow tree. Lisa helped us bring our wedding visions to life and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. It's the perfect place for an outdoor wedding and has so many unique places to take pictures. We loved going to their vendor events to sample different caterers and meet different photographers, bakeries, etc. It rained all during our ceremony and reception, and even though we planned a completely outdoor wedding, the rain plan still made our day perfect. We highly recommend this beautiful venue for your wedding!

Appleford hosted multiple open houses with their catering partners as well, which was the perfect way to meet various vendors, see the venue at different times of year, and get a taste of how things would be laid out. On the day, everything ran so smoothly, and our guests made sure to let us know how helpful the staff was. Every single member of the Appleford staff was extremely kind, helpful, and made us feel as though they were excited to celebrate with us. From beginning to end, working with Lisa and the Appleford team was exceptional and made the planning process easy. If you are seeking a Romantic garden setting with a beautiful estate home, you've arrived at the perfect place!
There are three components to the rental of Appleford: the use of the inside of the house, the use of the tented terrace, and access to the 24 acres of property. Your wedding can take place both inside and outside of the house. The use of the house consists of the Music Room, the Pine Room, the dining room, the kitchen, a groom's lounge, and the bride's bedroom suite for changing located upstairs. There is an additional space adjacent to the house called the Puppy Room for you to store your items before the wedding. Seating for your reception, for the most part, is located outside on the terrace, which is tented from April to November.
The terrace is directly in front of and around the side of the house, with beautiful views of the gardens. There are paddle fans, fans over the built-in dance floor, perimeter fans in the tent, a sound system, and bistro lighting. The price of the tent is included in the site fee for the season. In the cooler months, the tent can be heated (at an additional charge) for the comfort of your guests.
Exquisite gardens on both sides of the house are ideal for cocktails before the reception. An ale of trees and boxwood gardens make for perfect wedding pictures. A pond, a small waterfall, and a gorgeous landscaped entrance in front of the home are the ideal settings for an on-site ceremony.
Appleford clients may select a caterer from an exclusive list of Eight Exclusive Caterers: Catering By Design, Feastivities Events, Feast Your Eyes, John Serock Catering, Perfect Setting Catering, Sage Catering, Seedling & Sage, and 12th Street Catering. These caterers provide the set-up and breakdown for weddings and receptions. If alcohol is served, clients provide their libations, and the caterers provide the bartenders.
Clients are welcome to select a florist, photographer, videographer, or other vendor.
Event pricing varies according to the time of year, day of the week, and nature of the event. Please call or email for a custom quote.

The venue speaks for itself. One look at the boxwood gardens and we were in love. The venue is stunning inside and outside, and the newly completed rose garden is a wonderful addition to the grounds. Over and over we had heard from guests how beautiful the venue is, it felt like a fairy tale.
The venue is classy, classic, nature oriented, and stunning, it will leave your guests with lasting memories. Don't hesitate, you're in great hands!

years out, Lisa was extremely communicative and responsive to any questions or concerns we had throughout the entire process. She took an immense weight off our shoulders considering we also planned the wedding from out of state. In the weeks leading up to our wedding, we had some changes and Appleford was happy to accommodate where they could to make the day run smoothly. Lisa was also so kind to help cue our processional for the ceremony. We had a smaller size wedding (~65 people), and I was initially nervous the tent would be too big and feel empty. However, because the tent wraps around the house, we were able to be flexible in our setup and the space turned out perfectly for our guest count!
Appleford does require you to choose from one of their preferred vendors for catering, but there were plenty of options and this actually made things much easier for us during planning. Our caterer knew the entire space very well and what accommodations they could make, etc. since they work so closely with the venue. We were able to choose whoever we wanted for every other vendor.
The weather happened to be perfect the day of and we received so many compliments from guests about how beautiful and unique the gardens were. They also loved how they were able to freely explore the tent, gardens, and portions of the house. We couldn't have imagined getting married at another venue and feel so lucky we happened to stumble upon Appleford. Thank you for making our special day so amazing!

beginning, Lisa was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was responsive, accommodating, and went above and beyond to help coordinate with our vendors. In the days leading up to the wedding, the forecast called for heavy rain, and we ultimately had to pivot to our rain plan. Lisa handled everything with calmness and professionalism, ensuring the transition was seamless.
Despite the weather, the day unfolded beautifully, and the venue remained as magical as ever. We could not have been more thrilled with our experience at Appleford Estate and would recommend it in a heartbeat!

as a wonderful backdrop for all the photos and memories that our family and friends will remember forever. On top of that, Lisa the coordinator made booking with Appleford incredibly easy, she was kind, thoughtful, and explained everything to us in a way that is digestible. I actually think it is a benefit that you have to go with one of their preferred vendors for the catering staff, because all of our guests couldn't speak more highly of how everything was set up, food, and drinks. Transparently, Appleford was our one and only venue that we toured in person because we just knew it had exactly what we were looking for, and on our wedding day all of our dreams were exceeded! ble. Their recommended vendors and partnered caters were great, and the open houses they held made selection smooth and gave us peace of mind knowing we were making informed decisions.
One reason we loved Appleford was knowing they had a good rain plan - unfortunately, we did have to use this rain plan for some of our day so we were so incredibly grateful that the inside of the estate was stunning and ready for indoor use when the time came. The onsite coordinator was helpful in every respect and helped with everything including wardrobe malfunctions for the mother of the bride (helping to sew her dress when it was needed)!
Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was which was obvious from the moment you step on the property. We cannot recommend Appleford enough and are so incredibly grateful that we chose them for our wedding day!

Additionally, Lisa is absolutely amazing to work with. She would routinely respond within 20 minutes or sooner of sending an email. I knew I could trust her when making vendor decisions as well. She always helped with vendor recommendations. She went through additional walkthroughs with us and was incredibly flexible throughout the process. She truly went above and beyond to make our wedding day unforgettable.

for us. It had everything we wanted: luscious gardens, a historic estate with a stone patio, and beautifully crafted interior rooms. Appleford was the ideal venue for us, and all of our guests immediately fell in love with it as well. The ceremony took place in front of the stunning willow tree, and our reception was everything we had imagined. Appleford's well-manicured gardens and pristine home created a breathtaking backdrop for our wedding.
We adored working with Lisa and the entire Appleford staff. I found the Appleford Estate on Instagram and from the moment I saw it, I knew it was the place I wanted to get married-with the stone cottage and boxwood gardens. Throughout the entire planning process, Lisa McBride, the director of marketing and events for Appleford, was responsive to our questions, generous with her time and provided us with excellent guidance on vendors and logistics, which was particularly important for our families because we live out of state. Our wedding day was everything we hoped and dreamed of. The ceremony was surrounded by nature and beautiful music; during the cocktail hour, our guests mingled and were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds and we danced through the reception. Throughout the day, we were glad to have Mary, our wedding coordinator from Appleford, to help keep us calm, hydrated, on schedule and ensure that everything went smoothly. ut developing a rain plan or spending more money on one. And then from a dream wedding standpoint, this venue is unreal. The grounds are so beautifully maintained, the patio and reception setting against the stone house give this venue SO much character and charm, and the staff is incredible. Getting to work with Lisa on our wedding was truly a blessing. She answered my millions of questions with kindness and professionalism (and an incredibly quick turnaround), making a very stressful time significantly less stressful. There is truly no need to tour other venues if Appleford is on your list - it's perfect!

We also appreciated the flexibility in choosing our vendors, which allowed us to personalize our experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a memorable celebration for us and our guests.

and there are so many places for your guests to explore. Lisa is incredible and is extremely responsive. She was able to help us with everything that we needed. Some things that I was initially worried about were concern for a noise complaints and the size of the dance floor. We had an 11 piece band and had no issues at all! The day worked out so perfectly and we were so happy that we picked Appleford as our venue!

We had many questions that were answered with ease during the planning process up to the day. The estate and grounds are well taken care of with beautiful blooms all around. Inside the estate there were many places for our guests to explore in addition to a gorgeous bridal suite and separate room on the other side of the building for the groomsmen to spend time in. Appleford works closely with other experienced and skilled vendors making it very easy to chose trusted vendors who new the grounds and worked with each other before. I can't explain how beautiful every aspect of this venue is and how easy it was to work with them for our wedding. We continue to dream of our wedding day here and highly recommended this venue for anyone who loves a romantic garden estate style wedding!

so beautiful, the venue coordinator Lisa is quite the added bonus. She was the only person we met that asked about us as a couple and how we met. She is in the right industry and it shows. The day of, Lisa was there in the snap of a finger with anything you needed. Throughout the process, like many other couples, we had TONS of questions. Lisa was always super responsive and kind, she even gave great suggestions. The other best thing about Appleford is there are endless vendors that have worked there and each of them have such positive things to say. Even talking to vendors we didn't hire, spoke so highly of Appleford. We cannot recommend this place enough and can't wait to visit for our one year anniversary or just to walk around with our dog. Is it truly a magical place and worth the visit, could not recommend them more!

The estate is as gorgeous as Lisa is helpful, and I truly believe that our wedding would not have been the beautiful fall-inspired day that it was had we gone with another venue. From our initial meeting, Lisa was in constant contact with us answering questions and helping us perfect our day all along the way. On the day of the wedding, rain threatened to put a damper on our plans, but Lisa, and her cheerful smile reminded me “it’s going to stop, don’t worry” every time she saw me. I’m happy to say Lisa was right and our wedding was perfect. All throughout our night, guests commented on how gorgeous the venue was and how they loved all the different places they could explore. Whether dancing under the tent, or relaxing by the fireplace in the library, our guests had an incredible experience. There are many locations on the property for the ceremony, and we opted to have our ceremony in front of the waterfall with the pond to the left. Our “first look” took place in the Allee of Trees, and it could not have been more perfect. The flowers all over the property were in full bloom, and the rose garden was absolutely stunning. The photo opportunities around Appleford Estate are endless!
Lisa McBride who oversees Appleford and the events, was extremely knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. On the day of our wedding, Lisa assisted our officiant, and helped with coordinating the ceremony. Lisa was an absolute gem!
If you are looking for a romantic outdoor wedding venue, Appleford Estate will not disappoint! We absolutely loved it, and we plan on returning again on our first anniversary, celebrating with a bottle of champagne in one of the many gardens!

ed onto the grounds for the first time, my husband and I fell in love and knew we had to have our reception there. Lisa is so warm and friendly and is super responsive and helpful! She was always on top of everything we had to know, even leading up to days before the wedding, that we barely had any questions since she was so thorough. But when we did have last minute questions, she got back to us instantly! As for the venue, it truly is something out of a movie or fairytale. The gardens and estate are beautiful and make for stunning photographs with so many beautiful backgrounds. I’m sure it is absolutely beautiful in every season, but it was gorgeous for a spring wedding with all of the flowers freshly bloomed. I loved the separate garden cocktail hour outside and the patio under the tent for dinner / dancing was perfect. It was beautifully strung with lights, and we had our florist string the tent poles with beautiful greenery. I also loved how inside of the house was an option too for people to have a little escape from the action if they wanted. My guests loved that as well, admiring all of the different areas you could be during the reception. It was about 60 degrees on our wedding day, and although warm and sunny during the day, it did get chilly at night, so we ended up renting heaters for the tent a couple days before the wedding. Lisa had given us the info for that, and it was super easy to set up. It was a comfortable temperature, and you still had the option to raise the tent flaps if too warm or keep them down. The bar was set up outside of the tent, so it was nice to be able to walk right outside the tent and get some fresh air in between dancing the night away! My family and friends have not stopped talking about how beautiful the venue was and how it truly made the reception so perfect. I can’t stop thinking about how perfectly it fit my vision as well. I have always wanted an outdoor wedding reception with romantic, whimsical garden vibes, and that is exactly what Appleford is ! Look no further for a stunning venue that truly stands out from all of the others. I may be biased, but it’s by far the greatest venue I have ever been to! (And my guests agreed 😊) The greatest decision we made for our wedding was picking Appleford, and I can’t thank Lisa enough for turning our beautiful vision into reality ❤️

I love how big the cocktail area, it allowed guests to roam the venue and not be squished into a tiny room.
The reception area was clean and the lights wrapped around the beams added a touch of romance. We had 132 guests and the space was perfect. We didn’t feel like we were on top of each other.

e in the middle of a literal bird sanctuary? It's the kind of place that gets made into a painting - that's how pretty it is. Their rental fee may be steep but it was undeniably worth it. Lisa McBride is the epitome of a wedding professional. She remembered us by name from the day we first visited/placed a deposit and at any catering open houses or wedding expos we attended at Appleford, she made sure to say hello and that we had a nice time. The week of our wedding we had last minute questions and ended up renting heaters and she was incredibly responsive and attentive and made our lives so much easier. Appleford provided such a romantic, cozy, and beautiful atmosphere for our event. We had wanted venue that felt like "us" and somehow Appleford, despite being an incredibly popular choice packed full of weddings every year, turned into a special, intimate, and personal space right before our eyes with its magic. Many of our guests have told us it was the best wedding they had ever attended.

absolutely perfect weather enabled our guests to enjoy the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception amid the spacious grounds bursting with blooms, and well appointed with adequate places to mingle, sit, and/or stay socially distant as Covid was unfortunately still a very real concern. Kudos to Lisa for her enthusiastic guidance during our year+ of planning, prompt replies to questions and overall support of our efforts to make the day uniquely ours. We could not have been happier with Appleford! The beautiful and spacious bride’s quarters overlooking the reception area was a real highlight! The vendors we chose have a long history of working together and had a good understanding of Appleford’s layout and charming features which enabled them to work seamlessly together to make the day one that was hugely successful and satisfying.

Many people compared it to a wedding on the set of “Bridgerton”. The photos are stunning with Appleford as the perfect background. Our ceremony was by the waterfall/pond, cocktail hour in the gardens and reception under the tent. Our wedding was in July and the heat wasn’t an issue due to the fans in the tent, shade of trees, and AC in the house when we needed to cool off. Our wedding was supposed to be in downtown Philly and the best decision we made was moving it to Appleford. Truly a hidden gem!

riginal venue (this was the beginning of 2020). While doing so, we reached out to some outdoor venues to see their availability and how many people they would be able to accommodate. Appleford was one of these venues and Lisa responded the same night with their availability and safety plan. The following day, we tentatively picked a new date for our wedding and scheduled a trip out to Appleford to visit.
From the moment we stepped onto the estate we knew we had made the right choice. It’s a beautiful oasis situated right in Lower Merion Township. The grounds are vast and include a garden, a greenhouse, and a beautiful little river where we held our ceremony. The house itself is beautiful and spacious and we were able to use the patio for our reception and the rooms inside to get ready/chill in. It is an exceptionally beautiful spot that we were incredibly happy to choose and lucky to secure the date.
And Lisa McBride, who was our contact for Appleford, was just incredible. She was responsive, often responding to emails at 6:00 am, and flexible. We felt comfortable and safe working with her which after the year we had had, was something we valued. She knew our caterers, was able to work with our baker, and worked seamlessly with our coordinator.
Honestly, we could not have had a more beautiful and seamless wedding and this was due in large part to Appleford Estate and Lisa. Highly recommend!

ctions in the city. To our absolute delight, Appleford had availability the day before our original date. We immediately made the move and started planning all over again. Lisa McBride is truly one of the kindest, sweetest, most professional planners in the industry. She met with Tyler and I on a rainy day at the very end of March, just about three months before our wedding, to walk through the grounds of our new venue. We were grumpy and discouraged, but even through in the pouring rain, she made us feel warm and excited all over again. Our day was perfection, and we have Lisa and the team at Appleford to thank for that. If you are contemplating hosting your big day at Appleford, do it. Do not look back. Run, don't walk to these people. You will not be disappointed. Four months later, our guests are still raving about their experience and how very beautiful of a backdrop these grounds were to such a special day.

t was Feb 2020 when we got engaged, and I didn't add it to my list because I thought I wanted a big ballroom wedding, then the global pandemic happened. I switched gears and started to research outdoor venues. I remembered Appleford, and decided "what the heck - I'll make an appointment" Low and behold, it was the best decision I ever made! When we arrived we had drove past the driveway at first, not expecting it to be tucked away in a residential neighborhood. Once we turned into the correct driveway, I immediately fell in love with the venue. I loved the long winding driveway that leads you to a very large parking lot. Once we parked and walked up to meet Lisa under the tent, I couldn't believe that this venue was here all along. I had never heard of it, or been to a wedding here (we have lived in the area all of our lives). It truly is a hidden gem. We had a fantastic meeting with Lisa and was impressed with her from the start. Not only was she extremely responsive to e-mails and answering all my questions ahead of time, meeting her in person sealed the deal. We immediately locked in a date less than 9 months from the time we had our first meeting! Start to finish Lisa was wonderful. We selected Sage Catering as our preferred catering vendor, and can't say enough good things about them. It rained on our wedding day, and we had to have our ceremony under the tent. I was very bummed about this because all I wanted was that outdoor Appledord ceremony by the waterfall with the greenery as the backdrop to really show the guests the main reason we fell in love with Appleford! The tented ceremony turned out to be lovely and more intimate. The backdrop was still the beautiful grounds of Appleford. The food, drinks, and entertainment were spectacular. I am so thankful we decided to book an appointment to visit Appleford, and I'm so sorry I ever thought to rule it out in the first place without taking the time to visit and learn about the historical site and all that Appleford has to offer! Thank you Lisa, you were wonderful to work with and made our wedding day one we will cherish forever - I wish we could do it again one more time!
