April Whinery Photography

I highly recommend April’s work as a photographer. She was a wonderful asset during the hectic season of wedding planning. I am very busy, and ultimately, had very little time for planning related projects and April helped with everything, from the timeline perfected for sunset photos to suggestions for the shade of the groom’s tux to look best in photographs. She always responded promptly to my many questions. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable and made it so easy to “pose” considering neither of us are naturals. Photography aside, her kind and bubbly personality was just what we needed on the day of the wedding. April shot our engagement photos and wedding day; I love each photo from both.

I learned about April through a coworker who had just used her in her wedding. After looking through her photo gallery I just knew that April was the photographer I wanted for my wedding day! All of her pictures were flawless- so light, bright, elegant, timeless, and dreamy which is exactly what I wanted! My husband and I also had our engagement pictures done with April which was quite the experience to say the least! The weather was less than ideal (and so was my husbands attitude about posing for pictures- LOL) but regardless of the circumstances April was so understanding and kind, she kept our session so lighthearted and enjoyable! April has a very special way of connecting with people and making them feel at ease in an unfamiliar environment and she was able to get my husband out of his shell by the end of our session! Fast forward to my wedding day- April blew my expectations for a wedding day photographer out of the water! She showed up early and was such a calming spirit for me throughout the day. April made me feel so beautiful the entire day- if you are wanting a photographer that will be your constant hype woman, she's your girl!! April puts her heart and soul into her work and her passion definitely shows through her photos. She has a loving, servants heart and her desire to make her clients feel their best is unmatched. My husband and I have moved 4 hours from April but regardless of that she will always be who we reach out to for any photos that we want done, we LOVE April!!

I found out about April's talent from a friend who had a graduate school session on the University of Alabama's Campus. When she received the photos, both of our mouths dropped! The photos were light, airy, gorgeous, and timeless. Most of all, my friend said she had a blast during her session and that April made her feel beautiful! A couple of months later, I was in the middle of wedding planning and decided I would love to have bridal portraits made at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. My mind immediately went to April and I contacted her immediately to book a bridal session! April was so easy to communicate with and I felt like I knew her before I even met her! During my session, April made me feel beautiful, elegant, radiant, and so special! I look back on that day as one of the most joyful days of my life. After my bridal session, I looked at April and told her that she would take every single photo of my family for the rest of eternity! And she has done just that! April has been our go-to girl ever since and I wouldn't have it any other way! From a bridal session, Christmas photos, professional headshots for my husband's job, a baby announcement, maternity photos, to an in-home newborn session, April has truly done it all and I love the story her photos tell of my precious family! My husband and I love that April has become such a close friend that encourages, lifts up, and supports our marriage! April has been and will without a doubt continue to be there for every life event with the sweetest smile on her face ready to document every little detail! I absolutely recommend April to anyone that is looking for an extremely talented, encouraging, loving, and down-to-earth photographer that will without a doubt turn into a lifelong God-sent friend! April is simply put, the BEST photographer in Alabama!

I found April by a family member recommending her and I looked up her profile on Instagram and immediately fell in love with her light and bright photos!! I knew I wanted elegant and bright wedding photos. I contacted her and met her in person and knew she was the perfect person to photograph our wedding. She is kind, easy to communicate with, always there to calm my nerves, and excellent at prioritizing those special unique moments I wanted captured on our wedding day. She took our engagement and wedding day photos. I felt at peace in her presence rather than a ball of anxiety. On my wedding day, just her voice calmed me when directing us in photos. She built me up with her encouraging words throughout the day! My favorite photo she took was a full shot of the ceremony including us and all our guests taken from the entrance to the church. It is a perfect photo to remember our day by and I’m so thankful to have had April take our photos. Her business is much more than photos, it’s her kindness and life-giving spirit and prayers. I can’t recommend her enough!
