Similar experience to review of 10/26/2020. We called a few times a month and left messages. Finally, we emailed and they reply back that the date is booked! Hmm. Was it the first ...
20 times we called? Why did WE not get a call back?
Really wanted to have our wedding here. We've left multiple messages and emails and no one has gotten back to us. I understand if you're not currently booking but at least send a r...
esponse or auto reply and say when you will have booking again.
I had my dream wedding at AOP last July. Tamera is a pleasure to work with and makes everything so easy. She was always helpful and really took her time explaining things to us. Sh...
e had so many amazing surprises the day of our wedding that I'll always treasure. I would book the aquarium in a heartbeat again.
The venue is stunning and all the guests really enjoyed the event. The staff really goes out of the way to make sure everything is perfect.
The best part is that you can have your event here for basically the same price as a hotel.
First the Bad/Ugly: the biggest issue and challenge we had was with the event manager. She seemed disorganized at times, to the point of expecting us to have a printed up seatin...
g chart right before the ceremony, even after we had emailed it to her days before and she said she'd take care of that. She had issues with communication, I often had to write a few times to get a response and she rarely seemed to fully read emails and only answering one question. I'm not a bridezilla by any means and I wasn't making anything hard or emailing too often. She was generally sweet in person but it was still sometimes unpleasant dealing with her. There were some hiccups at the start of the event but everything else went smoothly because:
The Good: the catering staff was amazing. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the venue was gorgeous (better than we expected). The sangria they served was amazing, though I'm not a heavy drinker. Everyone had a great time and I loved it.
The neutral: There are tons of extra charges and fees for everything, but as compared to other places I thought it was all fair. I've seen far worse for less interesting venues.
Most importantly, in the end, everything was beautiful and the even ran very smoothly! Though there were a couple of hiccups along the planning road, we were generally very pleased...
with everything.
A few things to be aware of… (and these are really only for purposes of your preparedness and not necessarily complaints)
First, since the catering & bar are through the venue, you will not have a lot of options. Their bar selection is varied, but be prepared for steep prices and not exactly top shelf liquor. For example, their “super premium” (highest level) whisky was Jack Daniels Red. So, if you care about the alcohol at your wedding, just be prepared for this. (If you want to have something they don’t supply, they will charge you their per shot cost for the whole bottle regardless of what people drink.) Ultimately, we were happy and our guests were happy with the selection
Second, be prepared to pay for everything. That may sound silly because, of course, you have to pay for things, but it felt a bit like they were nickeling and diming us. They even charge a 3% fee for using a credit card to pay (which ended up being almost $700!). We ended up working most things out, but it was not necessarily simple.
Third, although everyone we worked with was very kind and did what they could to help us out, there is a general attitude that they do “favors” and say things before checking whether they can actually do them according to their rules. Be aware of this. It made it very difficult to know what to expect from them. My preference would have been to have them just follow the rules and to know what to expect.
Again, like I said, the event went beautifully and we really liked working with the Aquarium staff generally. When planning a wedding, it is important to know what you are walking into, and that is the only reason I brought the above points up. Good luck in planning!
The Aquariaum of the Pacific is an incredible place to have any kind of event, but especially a wedding. The worst photographer can take the best pictures at the AOP. There is no...
thing more breath taking then being married in front of the big tank.
The AOP nickels and dimes you for EVERYTHING. The food was good, but they do not do well with set up for ceremony or party well. The extra hor'douvers that I ordered were still not enough, when I was promised they would be. My experience with the event person was that she was un-organized and that took its toll on me the whole night.
If you use this venue, you will always have to be checking to make sure things are done the way you want them to be done.

This venue was beautiful, although a bit on the expensive side (but worth it). I would have liked to get things done sooner (menu tasting, meeting with them, working out the logist...
ics, etc). I contacted them more than a year before my wedding date, but I did not feel as though most things were settled until the very last month.
On the actual event date, everything turned out great though. The chef and her staff made such a fantastic meal for us, and the service staff was super friendly and helpful.
This place is great! But not for a wedding, I just cannot vision it personally.
A bit dark
Beautiful place, great service!
loved it loved it!
It being very different than the traditional cookie-cutter hotel. Amazing backdrops and plenty of things for guests to see during the cocktail hour. Very unique venue!;Lots of rule...
s and regulations.
I loved absolutely everything about my reception venue. There were things for the guests to do while we took pictures there were amazing places to take pictures it was big enough...
to accomodate any size wedding the staff/event planners were wonderful to work with and you didn't need much decoration because the fish tanks themselves were plenty colorful.;cost adds up quickly but you can make it pretty cheap by not adding on the extras they offer.
THE AQUARIUM SETTING.;THE MANAGERS AND PLANNERS WERE VERY DISORGANIZED. WORK ONLY WITH VINCE!
Having the aquarium all to ourselves.;Food is not that great.
