About this vendor
Arcade Underground is a historic and intimate wedding venue located in Sacramento, California. Located on the original ground floor of the Arcade Building in historic Old Sacramento, our venue provides a classic and elegant setting with an industrial twist!
Arcade Underground offers both indoor & outdoor venue options for a one-of-a-kind ceremony and reception. Inside, the historic building features beautiful, full-length brick walls, high polished concrete floors, and an industrial girder-style ceiling. Outside, their intimate courtyard is surrounded with ivy covered brick walls and one wall of iconic vintage white arched doors. They also have two flexible break-out rooms which could be used as get-ready rooms.
Arcade Underground offers many wedding-related services for a seamless experience. Their talented staff will assist in planning your event and bringing your vision to life for your special day. This venue has ample parking available for you and your guests, and is also wheelchair accessible.
When these gold rush era buildings were built, the front door and first floor were street level. Due to the Sacramento River flooding, entire blocks of the town were raised, so the first floor became the basement level and the second floor became the new business level. Therefore, this unique venue is actually underground, reached by stairs or a convenient elevator.
Arcade Underground is located in the heart of historical Old Sacramento, California. It is centrally located minutes from the Sacramento River.

I used the underground arcade in 2017 for my wedding, and it was the best day of my life. The manager at the time went out of his way to make me feel like I was getting good value...
out of using the location and it was perfect.
Flash forward to 2019, I wanted to throw my mom a 50th surprise birthday and we all loved the venue so much I thought it would be perfect. It is under new management- terrible new management. The lady running the place is self centered, complains, and is highly disorganized. If this had been my wedding, it would have been a catastrophic. The gorgeous Ivy that drapped the brick walls is dead and was still hanging dead during the party. The bathroom plumbing was broken and my husband had to fix it. They have this really ugly white drape that looks dirty and wrinkled and had to stay up. The elevator is broken (she attempted to lie to me to say it never worked, it worked at my wedding 2 yrs ago!) which makes the venue not handicapped accessible.
The price- I paid more for the 5 hour birthday than I did for my wedding where I had the venue for the weekend. The value was gone- instead of making my event feel special, Juanita made me feel nickled and dimed and I got 0 help to set up break down- the help for cleaning up for the party was asleep in the office. I will say the bartender that was required was helpful and nice.
I am so sad to see this gorgeous venue go so down hill and mismanaged so quickly. The venue is still a neat place to have a wedding, and they are flexible with catering. I just don't think it would be worth the hassle of dealing with the new management.
Adorable space. Great price but ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to deal with management. If we would have known how difficult they would be to deal with we would have paid more for somewhere el...
se.
This was the only part of our wedding that we look back on with negative thoughts.
They allow WAY MORE people than they are allowed to by city fire ordinance... police came at the end of our event and asked how many were in attendance. They said they are only allowed 40 guests when they okay’d us for 120.
We experienced horrendous plumbing issues that resulted in literal sewage spilling out into the patio and has a plumbing hose spanning across the back courtyard for the first hour or two of our wedding reception (huge eye sore and very smelly). They never cleaned up the bathroom overflow and ladies had to hold their dresses up in order to use the toilets and jot drag them in dirty, sewage water.
While they did address the issue they had no care for making it as quick and unobtrusive as possible.
When I spoke with the owner about how upset we were at the situation and how every time we tried to deal with them, he literally spoke AT me for 6 minutes (no exaggeration) before I got a word in, about himself. He bribed us with Kings tickets and a DISCOUNTED PRICE to have another event there, and portrayed no empathy or concern for what happened at his property on the most important day of our lives.
On top of that, we had to deal with the change of 3 managers! Two times in which they lost our contract and had no record of our full payment. The only reason it was caught is because I called to request a walk through. They even booked another event on our date. Plus, they nickel and dime you for everything. They tried to get us to pay $75 for them to clean out their own storage room to store our bar and chairs until the Monday after. They also tried to tack on a security deposit AFTER our contract was signed.
It ended up working out and we had a great wedding but it was NO thanks to the management of this place. I would never ever recommend this space to anyone ever. Which is unfortunate because it’s adorable.
* note: I typically do not complain and know that these businesses are peoples’ livelihood and that should not be taken lightly. This owner does not deserve to own this space and operate this business the way he does. He is not an upstanding business person and lacks integrity in the way he handles it.
I fell in love with the vibe here. So pretty, and different. i met w Karl and he was amazing!! He gave me a great price and I was so happy I found the perfect place for my wedding!...
but then he disappeared. turns out they fired him for embezzlement, or so they said. i met with another lady who seemed nice and helpful, and finalized my contract. a month later, Juanita took over. so I had to deal with 3 different people. Juanita changed the wsy they did business, upped the prices on everything, and will charge u extra for EVERY THING. extra $ to use their uplighting. extra $ to use the arches they have sitting around. extra $ to cover up their ugly walls with curtains they have on hand.
on the day of the wedding, the WORST CASE SCENARIO happened.
they knew they were having issues with the plumbing, and told me they would be having a plumber come out to fix the mens room before the event started. but what ended up happening is less than a couple hours before my ceremony, SEWAGE started coming up onto the ground where we would be having the ceremony!!!!!!!
when I walked into the venue all dressed and everything to take pictures, the whole place (including where ee would be having dinner) smelled like S H I T!!!!
omg of course I freaked out. I DEMANDED that they do whatever they need to do to FIX IT RIGHT NOW!!! they ended up pumping the sewer (gross!) and turning off the water during the ceremony. my guests had to go across the street to use the bathroom. During dinner and reception they put up a curtain and kept pumping. my family trally stepped up with insense and we burned lots of candles. ultimately my wedding was still beautiful, and I told one of the staff members (the only really good one, he was young and had dreads) that no matter what he HAD to keep on top of the smell. if I smelled one hint of poop at all the whole night I would freak out.
and I didn't. and luckily most of my guests didnt realize it was a problem. bit I should have NEVER had to deal with that kind of stress on my wedding day. apparently the management knew there was a plumbing issue, and had they been on top of it, this wouldn't have happened. Juanita apologized and offered me a $300 credit, but i have yet to see that. so, in short, the venue is cute and quirky, but the staff isn't great, and the risk u take with the building issues is far too great.
So we totally chose this venue for its visual aesthetic. But everything else was a train wreck.
First event coordinator stole our deposit and ended up in prison. His replacement n...
ever showed up to our schedule appointments. Then one the THIRD event coordinator within a few months she was either late to our meeting or didn't show up. When she did meet with me she was forgetful with every detail. Honestly, calling her an event coordinator is generous. When it came time to setting up our wedding the day before the venue was an absolute mess. My husband had to sweep the patio, clean windows, move furniture, and so much more. The mens restroom smelled horrendous.
This venue COULD be amazing if it were under proper management. But the staff made wedding planning significantly more stressful than it already was.
This venue could not be more perfect. Karl is amazingly easy to work with and was accommodating throughout the entire process. The price is reasonable and I got SO many compliments...
about how perfect the venue was. If you are interested in Old Sac, absolutely check this one out!
Karl, the manager, was amazing from day one. After our initial visit we probably came back 2-3 times and he was always so accommodating. The venue itself is super affordable. Our g...
