LaToya Adams is a contralto from Columbia, South Carolina, whose artistry is distinguished by expressive clarity, musical intelligence, and a deep commitment to collaborative performance. A graduate of Columbia College, she studied with Torn and Mary Brunson and the late Evelyn Potter Williamson, whose mentorship played a formative role in her artistic development. Ms. Adams has earned recognition for her achievements in classical vocal performance, receiving the Gene Ferguson Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2014. She has also received top honors in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competitions at both the state and regional levels and has appeared multiple times at the national level. An active performer in sacred, concert, and recital settings, Ms. Adams brings nuance, discipline, and emotional depth to a diverse repertoire. She is a valued collaborator known for her musicianship, professionalism, and ability to shape performances with both sensitivity and strength.
