cky to have stumbled upon Arlene's photography, and that she was available at such short notice, would be an understatement. I was tremendously fortunate that Arlene was the photographer for my wedding. I didn't exactly have a plan for how I wanted my photos to go -- in fact I feel I owe Arlene an apology for my awkwardness during both bridal portrait sessions -- and so I am grateful for Arlene's ability to know a good moment when she sees one. Her candid photos, in particular, are exquisite. Whether getting the shot involved climbing a lighthouse, figuring out the tempo of a joke, or gauging the brightness of my husband's smile, Arlene was more than up to the challenge. Because of her talents, I am able to enjoy my wedding over and over again, and every time I get to savor moments I hadn't noticed while I was living them. In addition to her talented eye and adventurous spirit, I want to say that I am so grateful for Arlene's generosity as a photographer. She stayed late at both events (our elopement was on her birthday!), took extra photos, and even did a quick family session with my sister, brother-in-law, and their new baby. Thanks to her, we are able to treasure not only the photos we anticipated, but special family portraits. I did not know enough about photography to realize how great it is that Arlene shoots in both digital and film. However, I've since discovered and appreciated what seemed like a subtle distinction. The soft, rich film shots have a special quality, as if my husband and I were married in a vintage film, and make the photos feel, one year in, already like old favorites. We also enjoy the sharper digital images, which Arlene subtly and gorgeously edited. I'm so glad I didn't have to choose between one or the other. Since she shot my wedding, I've been happy to recommend Arlene to every bride I know. I know that I will always be happy to do so in the future.
