I hired ArtWork Photography for our wedding, and this is my honest experience working with them.
I first spoke with Louis Anthony the summer before our April wedding. Our initial c...onversations went well, and because they were recommended by our reception venue, I had high expectations.
Unfortunately, communication became a consistent issue after we signed the contract. In January, I emailed asking for guidance on a photography timeline so I could coordinate transportation, hair and makeup, and other vendors. I never received a response. After speaking with Louis again at The Merion's open house in February, I followed up with another email, but again received no response.
I didn't hear back until just 18 days before our wedding, when he finally suggested a timeline. By that point, I had to extend our shuttle bus reservation by an hour, increasing our costs, and rearrange our florist's delivery schedule. What was most frustrating was that just two days before the wedding, he suggested adding yet another hour of photography coverage—at an additional cost. With 40 out-of-town guests already here and the wedding only days away, I didn't feel like I was in a position to argue with the vendor I'd be spending the entire day with. It left me feeling pressured into paying more because there was no practical alternative at that stage.
The wedding day itself went smoothly, and the photos turned out exactly as you would expect from a professional wedding photographer. I have no complaints about the quality of the images.
Unfortunately, the communication issues continued after the wedding. A few weeks later, I reached out to ask when we could expect our photos and was told about three weeks. After six weeks passed without any update, I had to follow up again. Although the contract stated online viewing would be available within 4–6 weeks, we didn't receive our gallery until around eight weeks after the wedding. Eventually, my husband drove to the office to pick up our USB drive because we were tired of waiting for updates.
Looking back, ArtWork Photography was by far the most frustrating vendor we worked with throughout our wedding. It's disappointing because every other aspect of our wedding planning and wedding day went smoothly. While I'm satisfied with the final photos, the lack of communication, missed expectations, delayed delivery, and last-minute attempt to increase the cost left a negative impression.
If you're considering hiring them, I would recommend asking very specific questions about communication, timelines, turnaround times, and any circumstances that could result in additional charges.
