This review is not directed toward the instructors at all, but rather the setup and those above the instructors. We loved our dance teacher. We only intended on doing 2 lessons and...
then stopping after that, but we ended up buying a package to keep going. After your first 2 free lessons, the owner will pull you into his office and pressure you into buying a package, after a long time of not taking no for an answer. When we expressed that we couldn't afford it, he came up with a million ideas of what we could do, including asking family members for money to be able to afford it. We ended up buying the package a few weeks later simply because we liked our teacher and wanted to keep working with her. Each time we would come in, the owner seemed to have met us for the very first time every single time (even after months of us going there and seeing him every time), asking us "when's the big day", "where are you getting married" every single time without fail. I understand not remembering things because you have a lot of clients, but we were going regularly for months and we had the exact same conversation every day. Our package included a few group dances, which we attended, which had free drinks but all that happened was you show up, the owner puts on music over the speakers, and he will switch up the music for a few times and then its over. That's it. When you are an experienced dancer, that is probably more fun since you know what to do, but for us, we are not experienced dancers, so we we felt very silly making up our own things, it felt very awkward. When our teacher was out sick for a private lesson, the owner stepped in and made us feel incredibly uncomfortable. Being overly handsy and moving my husband across the floor, talking overly condescending, this was different than just having someone else fill in for our teacher, we were uncomfortable and did not want to return to dance. When my dad came to visit from out of town 2 hours away to take lessons for our father daughter dance, we again got pulled into the owners office to discuss buying a package. He simply had a hard time taking a no for an answer. When our instructor left, we were heartbroken because she was the whole reason we ended up liking dancing and were willing to put up with the owner was to have lessons with her. We did not end up using our package fully and likely never will. Please beware if coming here for dance lessons.

, were plenty for Mia to choregraph for us a great dance. We loved working with Mia; she went with us on how difficult or easy we wanted the dance to be -- she can make it more or less formal, more or less challenging --, and she gave a lot of good guidance. She's done this before -- she's an expert!
I've taken ballroom dance lessons before, even once before at an Arthur Murray. Arthur Murray is a great institution, and you can always rely on getting some good dance instruction there. Because of the way it works as a company, there is some pressure coming down from on top to sell more lessons. If you're coming just for wedding dance lessons, I recommend using a groupon or one of their intro deals, and then just sticking to it -- there's a lot you can do in that time, though if you're enjoying dancing it can be easy to be tempted to spend more than you'd intended! But I have always found the instructors to be great and enjoyable. I would certainly recommend working with Mia.

We had so much fun and we only had a single 1-hour lesson and one 1.5-hour lesson before our big day (it took me so long to convince him- we only had 1 week by the time he said yes!). We looked awesome and the instructors make it so easy to learn. They are also so inviting with a judgement-free environment which makes you feel good about learning to dance instead of bad about having terrible rhythm! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!

ed in a choreographed dance, more in just learning the steps that we could build on even after the wedding. The owner, Jeremy, did our original consultation and picked out the "foxy" (modern foxtrot) to go with our song. Over six lessons we learned the steps of this dance and Donnie provided us with an entrance and exit. By the end, my fiance was able to lead me around the dance floor while we chatted. We had plenty of time to practice and fine tune for probably the last 2 or so lessons. Our guests were very impressed and both of us felt comfortable on the day of our wedding. When I watched my husband dance with his mother, I could see just how much he had learned and how confident he had become on the dance floor! We moved right after our wedding, so I was very sad to not be able to continue dancing at this Arthur Murray, but I will be looking for the one in our new city!

minutes each.)
While all were pretty fun, I felt we learned the same few steps at every group lesson. And after every private lesson, the instructor would talk about why you need to "practice with me" and "continue your lessons." That got old.
My finance and I were looking for some basic instruction and something fun to do together, which we did receive. I think it just depends on your instructor at this studio and would recommend Neil over Mia.
